  1. I think I've sat through Clash once, literally...but one of the first two anime tapes I ever bought was a copy of the SDFM dub from a store in Seattle in 1990. And, yes--even after eighteen years, you just can't stop "You can still fight when you're drunk!"
  2. It would be wonderful if we got subs on this, but the odds are so incredibly against it... Having said that: I'm assuming that, in order to split up this 26-episode series, the first three episodes will end up on the first BD ("final" version of episode 1 notwithstanding). I'm actually tempted to order this...
  3. Apart from the one wonky line ("A round of applause, please"?) I thought the subtitles weren't that bad. Lyrics notwithstanding, anyway--but my virtually nonexistent Japanese skills mean I won't gig them on that too much. And the wait for episode 2 goes on...
  4. Yeah, same here. But I don't even have a cellphone.
  5. Okay, how about these? (EDIT: okay, have to fix these...stupid borders...fixed!)
  6. Considering the previous comments in-thread to a "DVD edit" (?)...perhaps the inevitable R2 DVD release will either include both versions or end up being some sort of mashup of both...
  7. Thank you, Shun. And that's why I need subtitles. That pretty much nails that it was a time thing...out went the Ghosts and in went more Alto and Sheryl...
  8. It was done as more of an overt escalation in the DE, certainly. First , then , and then , and finally . And ...which still works, but is obviously more abbreviated for the sake of time (again, if you've seen the DE). EDIT: hmm...maybe we should be using spoiler space for this, since there have to be some folks who haven't seen the DE and are coming in completely cold...
  9. It's safe to assume that . (And bears that out, if I remember correctly.) And since you also had , well...
  10. From what little I picked up with my lack of Japanese, this version of the first episode seemed to be aimed more deliberately at setting up the apparent core triangle than the DC version was (mostly through the added scenes with ). But, yes, the stuff that got left out was all one huge glaring omission if you've seen the DC version. Still not crazy about the official ED, by the way. Ah, well...can't win 'em all. And as I pack myself off to bed, here--have some avatars I threw together for kicks:
  11. Not exactly getting blazing speed over here, but that's okay...worst case, the thing goes to ludicrous speed once I go to bed and I simply seed it for the next ten hours. To revisit a previous question, though: a subbed version should (in theory) pop up, what, over the weekend at the extreme earliest?
  12. I may have to fire up Animation Shop once the RAW gets out there...there's definitely some avatar material in the OP (apart from the damn kanji)...
  13. That's the official ED? I mean, okay, it's not horrible...but it's not great either. I suppose they wanted to keep the Nakajima/Ranka version of Do You Remember Love? for a special scene or so on, but coming after that...this kind of sucks. (Though it's vaguely, and I do mean vaguely, reminiscient of Cinderella from DYRL...) Maybe it'll grow on me after a few episodes.
  14. Way to go, AniServ. </sarcasm> (Okay, okay, everybody but them...but why repost that now?) Watching the DC version again, though, something occurred to me: it's not constant, but has anybody else noticed some faint Independence Day orchestral riffs in the BGM?
  15. I honestly can't think of a better name for the stock VF-25 than the Valkyrie II. I'd save something like the Freya for a special/armored variant...
  16. Robotech got me curious, so technically it's what started it all, but the love didn't really kick in until the first time I saw DYRL. Of course, that was one of the first pieces of anime I ever saw, so I suppose it's more pivotal in that sense than strictly Macross...
  17. I'm just waiting patiently for tomorrow night (maybe afternoonish) to come around. That's it. Juuuust waiting... Patiently... Screw that. I want my OP sequence now, dammit!
