  1. Well, it could still be the Lizard for the Spidey reboot. After all, it's set in high school, and Connors can be the science professor...
  2. So, unless "assisted performance" technology is perfected to the point of real-time acting, I doubt we'll be seeing any nominations for them. Rest easy, Gollum, you will not be alone.
  3. Last I heard, it beat Spiderman's record at the box office. Too bad Vinnie Chase wasn't available for the sequel.
  4. I would be perfectly fine if movies continued to be 2D. While 3D movies are indeed spectactular if done right, and some movies (i.e. Avatar) are breathtaking when rendered in 3D, it's not something I would like to watch every day. If a special movie comes along that should be seen in 3D, I would. Just for the experience. But upon repeat viewing, I would go for 2D. Ultimately, a movie is a story. And the story does not suffer just because I will suddenly watch it in 2D. p.s. yeah, i also wear glasses, and wearing the 3D glasses on top of them is a pain. Actually, I might even change my opinion on 3D technology if it focused less on sci-fi action scenes, and more on the aesthetics of the actresses. For example, I certainly wouldn't mind Jessica Alba's and Carla Gugino's scenes in Sin City in glorious 3D. Even on 2nd viewing. And third.
  5. yeah, and it took them all of 3 films before succumbing to the pressure. I can understand why FOTR lost to A Beautiful Mind, but i still can't accept the idiocy. years down the line, few will remember the latter film. i think it's unfair that Oscar gets a pass for its crime of snobbing FOTR and TT just by letting ROTK win.
  6. I, for one, was very impressed with Zoe Zaldana's acting as Neytiri, and I feel that it deserves some award recognition. But I think Hollywood/award-giving bodies are still doubtful of how much of the actor's acting is authentically translated into the final scene. Were Neytiri's facial expressions 100% intepretations of Zaldana's? Or did the CGI directors add a little touch here and there every now and then? In that sense, if the Avatar producers are submitting Zaldana for consideration for an oscar nom, what do they submit to the academy; the finished product, or the raw footage of Zaldana acting in front of the green screen? if the voters rely on the finished product, they won't be able to reconcile giving a nomination to an animated character. If they rely on the raw footage, those old fuddy-duddys might not be able to take her acting seriousl, what with all the contraptions attached to her head, regardless of her acting chops. The point being, if Neytiri was a live-action character, chances are Zaldana would be nominated for acting awards. But until award voters are properly educated and indoctrinated into "assisted performance", they will still believe that "assisted" means just that -- the technology somehow "assisted" to make Zaldana's acting better.
  7. I've been watching Natsu no Arashi. I'm up to the 8th episode of the 2nd season. Funny and enjoyable. Fanservice and cliche comedy bits galore, but it's so intentional and tongue-in-cheek, that I find them hilarious.
  8. hehe. for me, no amount of nipples is gonna change the fact that she's too short to play MJ. Maybe it's just my bias, because i've never considered her physically attractive, so I just can't see her as MJ.
  9. That's from Elf, right? Hmmm, seeing that pic, i'm even more convinced zoeey as a blond doesn't work. for me, she's a million times hotter as she is right now. You may be kidding about the cast, but most of the web wasn't. The very first article i read about Webb directing included the caption, "could Gordon-Levitt be far behind?"
  10. http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/a-line/hayden-p...do-new-beau/352 I have this sick feeling that she's gonna make a push to be cast as MJ...
  11. LOL. nice pic! oh no, does this mean Webb will be doing the Clone Saga??
  12. You're being sarcastic, right? Are you forgetting George Clooney? That "Batman route" killed the superhero franchise and left it dead for years. if there's any route to avoid, it's that one.
  13. Yes, and the whole movie will have the female voice-over of Kristen Bell. "XOXO. Spider-man." My predicition: much like the spirit and feel of the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series. Their depiction of Gwen Stacy as a nerdy-type turned hottie, and MJ as the party girl would be lots of fun in a full-length movie. and a "face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot" line sneaked in somewhere wouldn't be so bad.
  14. I'm guessing the director will consider him, but i'm pretty sure the Studio will push for someone younger (and more accessible to the teen market).
  15. Ha! Eva trumps all that. it's got them all: Adultery - Gendo and Dr. Akagi, maybe while Yui was still alive Sex - Misato and Kaji, 3 weeks' worth, uninterrupted Graphic Murder - Dr. Akagi killing Rei I, massacre of NERV personnel, death of Asuka, Misato shooting the soldiers, etc... Children in psychopathic situations - Shinji finding out he almost killed Toji, Shinji watching Rei clones dissolve, Asuka's mind rape Loli - Gendo and Rei? Seduction of young ones - umm... Misato? Seduction of old ones - umm... Asuka? "Self-help" - Shinji Cannibalism - Eva 1 eating angel, eva series eating Eva2. Orgies -- well, instrumentality was kinda one big orgy, right?
  16. Hey wait, that's old news, isn't it? when they thought they were still doing Spidey4? Isn't it? Isn't it? Oh dear god, please let it be old (and inaccurate) news.
  17. It's fate. "Webb to direct Spidey" has a nice ring to it. Gordon-Levitt is too gangly to be Pete for me, and I can't imagine Zoeey as a blond. hehe. but Jessica Biel... yumm. Although, if spidey4 will be set in highschool, then they'd probably be too old already. let's face it, it'll probably be someone from the High School Musical generation (hmm... now let me take a look at those Glee kids again...) let the casting games begin!! while this'll be a reboot, is there any chance they would retain Simmons as J.Jonah Jameson?? Please?
  18. yeah, but you're assuming that Raimi's spidey 4 would have used cool villains like your suggested Lizard, or that the story would be something interesting. however, from the little tidbits that have been going around, Raimi's pitch was to use the Vulture. And if rumors were to be believed, they would even be using Felicia Hardy, not as the Cat, but as the Vulturess (??!). I have no idea what plot they could come up with to make that dastardly combination even work. Even with respect to the love story, they already painted themselves into a corner. After the fiasco that was the Gwen Stacy in Spidey3, they couldn't very well introduce a new love interest that would be believable. The love triangle was done (and very poorly) and resolved, so there would be no point in revisiting that conflict. So what will be the story with Peter and MJ - marriage? kids? you can only show Maguire and Dunst making out on a godawful giant web in NY before you get sick of them. And god forbid Peter and MJ have another fight -- I don't want to see Tobey Maguire cry like a friggin baby again. Sure, i want another Spidey movie. But if the concepts Raimi was pushing around were as bad as they say, then I'm all for scrapping the whole template and starting anew. I agree with AgentONE; you can only do so many sequels (whether it's a good premise, or a crippled one) before it gets stale and repetitive. If you want proof, you need look no further than Spidey 3, which had to revisit the murder of Uncle Ben as a major storyline in order for there to be a new conflict. What will we discover for Spidey 4, that it was actually the Vulture that caused Flint Marco to accidentally pull the trigger??
  19. Pete, it's exactly that. It's the official continuation of the "alternate world" shinji thought of in the last episode of Eva. and if you loved that part of the series (as did I), you will certainly like the manga. the gang's all here! marzan, yup, it's very light-hearted and funny. certainly a high school comedy. but i can't help but think that there's still going to be some underlying dark conspiracy by the end of the manga.
  20. ok... i'd give it a chance first. i don't know the whole story, and, unless what you've "read" is already the whole script, i'm guessing neither do you. me, i liked the trailer, and i'm definitely seeing it. it could be awesome. then again, it could be a total crapfest. i'm giving it a chance before i order my legion of angels down on it.
  21. Finished Darker than Black S2. liked the whole series! and a good ending. albeit a bit rushed and VERY open-ended. but it's a good set-up for a new (and hopefully longer) 3rd season.
  22. EXTREMELY cute Japanese girl who was a big Eva fan.. sorry was gonna comment more on your post, but everything else left my brain when i read that line... EXTREMELY cute Japanese girl who was a big Eva fan... DAMN. my ultimate dream girl. if i had the machine in Weird Science, yup, that's prettty much who would come out. AND on other news... anyone here who has been following the NGE: Shinji Ikari Raising Project manga? i went through volumes 1-3 over the weekend, and it was thoroughly enjoyable reading. to see my favorite characters in that light was certainly refreshing. can't wait for vol 4 to come out.
  23. It was stressful, those days of online discussions. and while i remember them a bit fondly as some kind of rite of passage, no way do i want to go through that again. you can only join discussions like that until you realize that you are not gonna change each other's views anymore. and with Eva... i have to admit that i'm as narrow-minded as they come, and not smart enough to look beyond it. I agree. while frustrasting, i would not exchange the experience for anything. whatever wait I endured, magnified my appreciation for the series tenfold.
  24. Holy crap, Summer Wars was awesome!! a wonderful movie. I was emotionally invested the whole time. 2 masterpieces in a row by Mamoru Hosoda. it had an old-school miyazaki feel to it. the way characters were so believable and relatable, and their interactions so natural. i LOVED this movie.
