  1. I (still) don't agree about the mode changes not being useful. The YF-29 vs VF-27 fight was pretty battroid heavy (short as it was). I'm still of the mind it's just a style choice in Delta.
  2. As for me, in Frontier I was a supporter of Alto and Ranka, but mostly because Sheryl was presented as a spoiled and entitled child who I just wanted to see lose. Then she got sick and was dying or whatever and I guess I was supposed to feel sympathetic, but the damage had already been done. Then the movies did away with that aspect of her character entirely, and then I just found her boring. Ranka on the other hand was always getting the short end of the stick, and I felt that was never really compensated for in anything that happened in the movies or TV series. She just got the short end of the stick all the way to the end. In Delta I actually like both Freyja and Mirage a lot, so it's a little more interesting to me. I also actually like that Hayate isn't girl crazy or easily worked up (because frankly I'm sick of that trope in anime). He's cool as a cucumber and I'm okay with that. In my opinion that's also why his feelings coming as such a surprise to him in this latest episode was so satisfying to see. To be fair, the characters in Delta are much more mature than the ones in Frontier, so some of the puppy-love aspect has been done away with (actually, it's been done away with entirely). There's something to be said about a modern mecha anime that doesn't take place shoehorned into a freaking high school.
  3. At least it's a heck of a lot more mecha action than we got in Frontier. Unless I'm mis-remembering. Help me out. I really liked the episode myself. Very sweet and heartwarming. It certainly looks good for Hayate and Freyja, but their relationship is a little too much like the one between Alto and Ranka for me to believe it has a romantic future. Just like with Alto and Ranka, Hayate and Freyja's relationship is characterized by both playfulness and mutual support. However, in the end, Ranka couldn't be anything more than a close friend to Alto, and he chose Sheryl instead. I do believe Hayate loves Freyja, but not in the romantic sense, just as I believe Alto loved Ranka in the same platonic way. I also like how Hayate's feelings blindsided him in this episode. It was like he ran right into a wall.
  4. I was thinking that cyborgs would be a pretty good match against Windermere people, what with their enhanced physical abilities and all. Though, Brera was pretty susceptible to fold waves, so who knows how they'd react to the Song of the Wind. K&R were too busy writing "The C Programming Language" Sorry, couldn't resist. If I remember correctly, Luca's RVF-25 was equipped with some kind of new fold transceiver in episode 7 of Frontier, which is presumably why the Vajra captured him (for the fold quartz). Perhaps the enhanced communication abilities enabled more reliable control over his Ghosts. True that, but you'd also think the NUNS wouldn't suck at literally everything.
  5. Really? I just checked my BluRay 720p fansub version and it was still the same. Thing is I could have sworn it was Judah System as well, but I was watching it a few days ago and noticed this. I wonder if there is a version like that. Maybe the original TV broadcast? Edit: Yes, the original TV version has the Judah System. It also says "AUTNOMY" instead of "AUTONOMY" which they fixed in the BluRay release. I can provide screenshots if you like. Edit2: Went ahead and made an image to compare. TV at top, BD on bottom
  6. The Ghosts at the start of Frontier were jammed by the Vajra and failed to operate correctly. As for the Juda System, I think it was actually "Judas" system. The VF-25 is called "Messiah", and Luca's three drones were named after three (Simon, John and Peter) of the disciples of Christ (the Messiah). Judas Iscariot was the disciple who betrayed Jesus, so I guess the Judas system is the Ghosts "betraying", or rather leaving, the Messiah (VF-25). I actually take exception to the symbolism (since I myself am a Christian), but I'm pretty sure that's what that's all about. I wonder why they aren't deploying Ghosts in droves against Windermere... it's not like a Ghost can be Var'd. Edit: Quick screenshot
  7. Apparently the blue fold portal the SV uses is better than the pink ones we are used to. Frontier established some fold drives are more advanced, with that LAI prototype being able to navigate some fold faults in real time (or something - I can't remember).
  8. To be fair, Grace wasn't exactly human anymore. Roid was never human but I get your meaning. I wonder if maybe Gramia dropped the bomb on Windermere. He was a pilot, and had his weird ideologies and motives. Though Roid seems to be at the top of the propaganda conspiracy. Wasn't Roid a pilot at some point, too?
  9. So, have we figured out how the Aerial Knights get around yet? It looks like they are projecting a fold from Windermere or something.
  10. What about proximity? How does that play into the whole SMS not being present in the Brisingr Cluster, at least presumably, thing? Isn't Frontier nearer to the center of the galaxy whereas Ragna is way out on the edge?
  11. I know the scale is different, but that's sort of my point. Sheryl hired SMS personnel, Valkyries and the Macross Quarter for an operation to rescue Macross Galaxy. That's only one operation, but Sheryl is only one person as well. Yes, she's a mega-diva that probably has all the money, but I'm guessing (and this is a guess) that a mining conglomerate has more money than one person, even the most popular singer in a galaxy obsessed with singers. So, if one rich person could hire SMS to do one operation, then its conceivable that a big corporation could hire a force large enough to pose a threat to Windermere's occupation force. And who's to say PMCs haven't gotten cheaper in the eight years since Frontier? Apparently, there's lots of competition, and competition drives down prices. Also, it's possible Chaos isn't the best of the best... but at least they aren't getting their pilots from high schools........... Hmm. Now I'm wondering if 'drifter' is a step up or step down from 'high school student'.
  12. Sheryl hired SMS to rescue the Galaxy fleet with her credit card. And like it's been stated, we don't know how big said mining companies are, or what stakes they have in the conflict, but the idea of hiring a PMC to do stuff like that should be nothing new here. After all, Chaos was guarding Ragna while using the planet as their base of operations to conduct military operations against Windermere. NUNS seems to be a fading entity on the edges of development (or colonization), which is a trend that I think was started in Frontier (though some of the more knowledgeable fans feel free to expand on this, as I'm sure there's a lot more to it). It's no surprise there are no shortage of PMCs stepping up to fill the void.
  13. From what, localized heating of the air? The arc will take the path of least resistance, which in this case is the opposite terminal(s). As long as they don't get between them, they should be safe.
  14. I apologize then. But you could see how I misconstrued that one. Heck, if you want you can nuke the post if that makes things right. Or leave it for comic relief, your call.
  15. Huh, interesting. It's really too bad we were all killed in 2009.
  16. If I have then I apologize, but I read it over and over before I made my reply. The thing is... But please, correct me if I am mistaken.
