  1. I've been on a retro gaming kick these days and I've finally come around to PC-98 emulation.  I was really excited to come across this recently.  I started to play it this weekend, and I honestly have really enjoyed playing it.  Mainly the strategy game part is what I enjoyed the most.  The visual novel and dating sim stuff is a little interesting in that it covers the DYRL story before the movie events, but it's not the highlight of the game.

A sincere thank you to all who worked on getting this translated into English and getting it working in general for emulation.  I can at least say this is one Macross fan that really appreciates all the work that went into it. :good:

Edit: Just wanted to share a little more.  After getting the emulation working on my desktop PC I wanted to see if I could get it working on my Raspberry Pi build.  Sure enough Retropie had the Neko Project II emulator built in. Just had to load the emulator and add the font file to get the English text to look better.  I think this is a slicker way to play it, and I have all my old retro games in a little gaming console.

I had to add some custom logos and images to my Retropie theme as PC-98 menu graphics didn't exist on the tronkyfran theme I like to use.IWDEMrm.jpg

  2. My Breetai is in m Pile of Loot now on BBTS.  He's in stock for purchase as well.

I was just thinking that what we really need are figures that can fit in the Regult and Gluag.  I wouldn't even care if they were articulated as long as they were in a pose that could look like it's piloting the vehicle.

I tried really hard to like the vf-4s scheme but looks like this is the first macross hi metal r that I’m not going to get .

preorder is still available on amazon.co.jp

The completest in me wanted to pick this one up, but I have other large purchases I want to make.  Since I already have the first release I'm passing on this as well.

  4. Looks like BBTS is carrying forward the price reduction on Breetai.  Pretty happy about that.  I wasn't sure if they would, but I was hoping.  Of course they do the old cheaper shipping but slightly higher price on the item ploy, but that's BBTS for you.  But, were only talking a few bucks.  No big deal.

  5. What's this about a mini Rick Hunter figure being printed?  Is that a new bonus item?

Edit: OK, after look at the BBTS listing, the Rick figure is listed in the description although none of the photos on BBTS show it.

Did I overlook this from the beginning or was it added on later?

This pic is from the Meptoys website.

  6. I don't mean to rain on all the excitement, but haven't we seen other stuff like this that is labeled "display only" a long time ago and we still haven't seen it released.  Still I like where this is headed.  It's definitely nice to see an actual physical item instead of just drawings.

This is true. Any Zentradi mecha release would be good.

Or even the Phallanx, the only Destroid on my list.

Honestly, I'll be happy to see anything as long as it's not a Valkyrie.

  8. Was focused on Star Wars Triple Force Friday this weekend, and I wasn't paying attention to the Roy VF-4 pre-orders.  I usually try to go with HLJ as their prices are reasonable for the products and shipping and have a good pre-order policy in that it's easy to cancel it if I change my mind.  I went with Amazon Japan on this one since HLJ is on Order Stop now for this.  Amazon was just a little more than HLJ, but Amazon's shipping is always reasonable.

Last time I got lucky with the original VF-4 and managed to snag one on HLJ when 1 popped into stock.

Also, an FYI on Amazon Japan.  Their pre-order policy on this particular item is that you can cancel a pre-order up to Jan 19, 2020

I also wanted their 1/12 figure stands since I got a few figures to peg on it! But I think it is not released yet?

Today i could spent more time on my sci-fi 03 sets and manage to create a few setups in the detolf. I love these things :)

Curious what you are using for ground crew and that forklift?  Looks to scale well with 1/60 stuff.

I guess most 1/64 scale diecast works?

I actually do wonder whether Bandai would bother with the VT-1, since judging by the HMR sales, I don't think it's exactly a hot seller.

But, it's pretty much sold out most places.  I mean it didn't sell out in minutes or days like some other items, but honestly that should be the exception and not the norm.

I think that jacket is a solid pass for me, lol!

They could have at least tried to do a "realistic" take on the jacket as though it would be something worn in real life if Valkyrie fighter jets existed.  Instead they put a giant ugly image on the back and other dumb things all around it.  Heck, someone is better off getting some patches and put them on  a real jacket maybe from a military surplus store.

  12. I had my 1/48 Yamato VF-1S Hikaru in my Detolf display cabinet in my dining room.  It wasn't exposed to direct sunlight, but there was light coming in from the bay window.  I would keep the blinds down almost all the time.  Over the course of many years the nose area started to yellow a bit.  Best to play it safe and minimize any UV light hitting it.  I never display my most prized valks in the Detolf anymore.  It's one reason why I like the Hi-Metal R line.  They're cheap enough that I don't mind displaying them.  Plus they are not bright white like the old Yamato valks, so they should be somewhat resistant to yellowing.

  13. I would think they would just go ahead and finish the Destroids and get them out fairly quick since they only really have to tool up the top half of the Tomahawk and the missile one.  Ditto for the Regult Scout.

Just rotate what you have. Keeps the display looking fresh and puts all your toys into use at some point.

That's what I do.  I couldn't possibly display everything.  I'd say about once a year or so I clear a shelf and put everything away.  Then I put something out that I got recently or simply want to see again.  My dream is to some day build little diorama scenes custom to the Detolf shelf size.  Just never seem to find the time.  For sure, that's what I'll be doing in retirement.  LOL!

I need to pull the trigger on that kit sooner rather than later.  I keep looking at it  and I keep saying to myself I'll get it later.  I know it will probably go OOP at some point, and then I will be filled with regret.

Could someone help out looking for the 1/100 Armoured hanger in oz as the shipping from Japan to Australia is about the same as the kit, cheers

  15. Always had a good experience with Mandarake.  Usually I am pleasantly surprised when I order something as having "box damage" and the box doesn't really have any damage other than some minor shelf wear and scuffing.

Another time I ordered a Medicom Tron set, and they sent the wrong version.  Order version A and got version B, for example.  I contacted them, and they asked for me to ship it back and they sent me the correct one and refunded my shipping cost to send it back.

This. It's the only 1/60 VF I'm going to shell out for.

Yup,  I picked up the VE-1 a while back when Arcadia re-released it.  Now, all I need is the VT-1.   I'm just grateful I'll have a shot at buying it if they do release it again as opposed to the impossible challenge of pre-ordering a Bandai DX valk.
