  1. Search didn't show any shot of the little darling hiding behind the VE-1. ......or did I miss it?attachicon.gifimage.jpg

    Awwwww! Yeahhhhh! :D

Also, my backpack on the VF-1J doesn't fall back, but it doesn't lock in either. I can tell that over time if I keep transforming it will eventually be loose.

  2. well there you go eh.. shows how much I know about Transformers..:D

Doesn't change the fact that the name does sound kind of lame though. :p

I've been checking out reviews on the Takasa Tony stuff. They're pretty good actually and way cheaper in price. I just can't get into another toy line as I'm spread too thin as it is. I'd break my toy budget even at these lower prices.

  3. I think this will sell much better than most will be expecting. Due to the sheer size it's going to appeal to MP transformer fans, and general 80's robot guys who like beefier robots.

No doubt. And we'll be lucky if it does sell well for those reasons. I don't know about any of you guys, but I'm going to be hard pressed to keep up next year with what's in the pipeline based on the Tamashii Nations preview. Not even considering what Arcadia has in store for us and the Evolution Toy VF-2SS with SAP. I'm already assuming the 1/35 VF-1J and the 1/1800 SDF-1 will be out of my reach if I want to collect DX Delta toys, HMR, SH Figurearts, and an Aracdia release or 2.

  4. I have been curious about the KO masterpiece transformers, so I picked up a couple. Aside from the paint application, the molds are 99% identical. What is going on here? Have they gotten their hands on the CAD files and milled their own molds? It is too exact for someone to have recreated the files from scratch. Are are these molds stolen/sold form Takara's factory? I have at least one of each of these figures molds from Takara/Hasbro. It is impressive how close they are.

My guess is that some funny business is going on at the manufacturer in China. They had to have gotten their hands on the CAD files, but they also probably have access to the paint specifications, tampo print artwork files, specs. on the masking fixtures for the paint, box art, etc.

  5. I've never noticed how truly cobbled together this spaceship looks until studying both the Hasegawa kit and now this one. The Promethius is just all kinds of wrong in shape to make it streamlined against the main spaceship. You've got the angled landing deck on one side, and the superstructure on the other. There's just no way to tuck the carrier in closer to the leg of the SDF-1.

Believe it or not, that's one of the things I love about it! It just looks like a real attempt at attaching something that wasn't really meant to go there in the first place.

I do find very large ships that are not symetrical to be kind of interesting personally. To me it seems more realistic. Such large ships would probably be built over a long period of time and perhaps even retro-fitted over the years for various reasons.

  6. I'm not sure why I preordered this... I think I have preorders' remorse now, so I will cancel my preorder now.

I blame the HLJ post that came up on my FB news feed. :p

EDIT: aahhhh! I was going to cancel the preorder and then saw it again on HLJ and saw how awesome it looks.... and preorder not cancelled... LOL!

I have until March to change my mind again.

LOL! For the price I think it's worth it. Once you put this baby in your display shelf/case you won't regret it. If anything you'll regret not picking it up after it eventually is discontinued.
  7. I'm wondering if this will be a 1 off toy kind of thing and they wouldn't milk the molds and do a VF-1S? Maybe done as some kind of limited exclusive. I just don't see them making something like this in mass quantities and multiple versions.

  8. Some images of the Glaug show it needs a stand to support the arm weight. I sure hope they use a lighter weight die cast for the gun hands so no stand is required. The technology is there now to do lighter die cast. We dont need another Macross Quarter.

I'm betting they are plastic, not diecast.

  9. I just can't bring myself to get enthused about the Hi-Metal R VF-1 toys at all.

Having collected and owned most of the Takatoku and Bandai 1/55 VF-1 toys, nearly all of the Yamato 1/48, 1/60 v1 and v2, I've just got no interest in collecting another line of VF-1 toys.

Especially when (a) I hated my first release Hi-Metal VF-1J from a few years ago and (b) I'm far more interested in the Macross Delta toys coming next year, so need to save for those.

    So have at 'em guys!

I am however extremely interested in the Hi-Metal R VF-2SS with SAP.

What, no Glaug, Regult, Nousjadeul-Ger, Queadluun-Rau, or Destriod Monsters for you? There's always something. :D

Edit: What about the launch arm stand?

Edit again: Oh, you did specifically say VF-1. If you already have a bunch of other releases I can see how you wouldn't want an HMR one. I'm really only interested in the VF-1 for the scale compatibility with the enemies and the launch arm if that ever gets released.

  10. so, is there any news on the VF-2SS? I'm kind of interested in that...

I'm wondering if it will simply be a toy version of their model kit. By that, I mean using the same transformation design, but beefing up the plastic and adding metal joints in key places.

  11. Whelp i gambled on this preorder, and now I can't back out. Their mazinger stuff doesn't look that bad, why does this look so off? And the tabs! They made them extra long on top of it. Jeez.

    Maybe it was a miscomunication.

"What? Tabs? Yes, we'll have tabs? Don't worry."

"Hey, the customers are asking about tabs. Better make 'em extra big."

  12. Seriously, would it have killed them to go to 1/5000 scale to at least match the Wave DYRL version. We're only talking around 4cm longer. It wouldn't have affected the price that much.

But, honestly, I remember having the Wave 1/5000 on display in my Detolf. It was decently sized. I was always happy with it, but I sold it when I got the Yamato.

It's not a holy grail sdf-1, but it seems nice and worth having in a Macross collection. It's not huge, but I dont feel it's too small either.

  13. The Wave SDF-1 is only a little larger at 24cm (1/5000) but it was around $120USD IIRC. The Megahouse version is looking to be around $50. And, it's the TV version. Not bad IMO.

Assuming the TV and DYRL versions are exactly the same size at the same scale then at 20cm this is looking to be a 1/6000 scale ship. Anybody want to check me and confirm?

  14. Arms?

    p9Myrr.png

The green and blue sections look like the legs to me and each foot makes up half of the single exhaust nozzle. I'm thinking one half of the nozzle swings left and the other swings right to become the feet.

I'm wondering if it's single engine than perhaps the main body/torso will be engine in the back and cockpit parts in front. The engine exhaust will point down for hovering and thrust in batroid mode.

This is looking like it will be a really cool looking batroid.
