But you have to admit that making three movies of that scale is an impressive accomplishment.

The beauty of television is the the channel can be changed so that you do not have to watch something if you don't like it. Personally, I'd love too see how this turns out, and so I suspect my TV will be set to the required channel.
Isn't it great that we can have it both ways?

With the Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies, Lucas has pushed technological advancements to the forefront. Lucas really pushed bluescreen work to the front. Now every movie uses bluescreen/green screen work to do those hard action shots. Like having a close-up on the actor as things are blowing up and the actor is on a moving vehicle. Or having a small number of extras then applying a green screen to make it seem like thousands of extras. He also pushed special effects into a wider range of work.
With the Young Indy, he made digital editing more common place. Now digital editing is what people use. With Episode 2, Lucas made use digital filming for the entire film. Now editing is cut down since you can take the footage and go straight to editing/post-production the day you shoot the material.
well then that another reason to dislike lucas, if the action shot is too hard, then dont do it, dont try to fake it, thats one of the reasons todays movies arent as good, used to be aside from some off camera stuff like pads and wires, all the stuff that happened really happened which is what made it cool, these days theyll CG half the shot, and paste the actors face in
You obviously have a different opinion that me, since I would rather watch this
than this
and I think these
are better than this
For me I don't really care how the effect was created, as long as it looks good. I don't get more enjoyment out of it if I think someone really performed the stunt. And CG is just a tool. If it is misuesed, that is the fault of the filmmakers, not the technology.

I think Laughingman is the only one still doing them. In fact, the original laughingman has been replaced by his brother I think. Currently they are up to episode 19 or 20, with next promised soon .
Yep. But the last one came out quite a while ago, unfortunately. Any confirmation they are still doing them?

Macross MMO
in Games
The problem for me with MMO is that you have to rely on other people to provide the immersion in the world. And IMO that just doesn't happen when those people are "l337 d00dz."

Little sight gags like that are quite common in animation. I guess it makes you pay attention.
But remember, some around here consider M7 a sight gag.

Hmmm, I wonder how I can stumble my way through the Amazon Japan website. It's hard to follow. Will they really accept orders in english?
That's what I'd like to know...

Some things to consider with some of the current thoughts being bandied about. Medichlorians are never stated to be the source of the force, are they? As I recall they are mentioned as being somehow linked to the Force, and a higher count of them does indicate a person with potentially high Force sensitivity. However, I do not recall it being stated that medichlorians are the source of the force, or give a person their Force strength.
That is correct. Midiclorians are merely the interface through which Force-sensitives interact with the Force.

I thought he was viewed favorably by the young children set...

I think one of the biggest discrepancies is from episode 5, when Shin jetisons all the weapons and FAST packs from his VF-0A, so that APHOS/Sara will no longer consider him as a Kadun of war. Then seconds later we see the FAST packs back on the legs of the VF-0A again.
Graham
Heh, I remember that. It was brought up in another thread too.
Its interesting how they tend to make mistakes no more than a few seconds later...
While I agree that those mistakes shouldn't happen, even though they only happen a few seconds apart in the show there is no telling when they were animated. It is possible that these shots were animated months apart, and perhaps by different animators...

The one tha still bothers me to this day is that i can't figure out why the Trade Fed wanted to invade Naboo. I know that it was all about Palpatine manipulating everyone to take over the government, but who gives a crap about some backwater garden? Did they want to build vacation homes on Naboo and Padme wouldn't give them a permit? WTF?
Umm...they invaded because Sidious told them to invade. And Sidious is Palpatine, dontcha know? Its as if you understand, and yet don't understand at the same time.
It is explained in detail on one of the novels. I believe it was Cloak of Deception.

Can you get Peti Cola on the BSG?
-
An invaluable resource for idiotic fanboys arguing which mech would win in a fight(me, sadly), as well as the more rational people that just want some of the details that aren't animated.
Indeed. This site could perhaps have settled more fanboy arguments than any other site in any genre...
OK, maybe not. But it still has settled a lot!

The overall SW universe is cool but why such a watered down plot in EVERY single movie.
How much plot are you expecting a matinee serial style movie to have?
-
Does anyone know what the sales have been like for this game? I haven't seen it hyped very much...
-
However, in BSG they are trying to find Earth, whereas in Macross Earth got nuked...
What has Peter Jackson done with his life?
in Anime or Science Fiction

But I don't think Hollywood has filmed three huge epics of that scale at the same time to my knowledge. And I don't really see how creating a entire CG volcano is taking the easy way out when you could simply stick and camera on a mountain. CG isn't overly easy, especially when you are trying to recreate real life objects and environments. As much CG as there is, much of the film was filmed on location and took advantage of the natural beauty of New Zealand.
In any event, my original point was that Peter Jackson should get some props for taking on such a huge undertaking and delivering what most would say are pretty good movies.
