  1. The statement in the first page regarding the original Macross intellectual property rights need to be corrected. Why ? Because intellectual property rights include copyrights, trademarks, author rights, etc. With the japanese court rullings we know that both harmony gold/tatsunoko and Studio Nue/Big West are the owners of Macross intellectual property rights. We know that harmony gold/tatsunoko own the copyright, trademark and the economic rights part of the author rights outside of Japan for SDF Macross. In short, harmony gold/tatsunoko own the economic rights of the original Macross outside of Japan. Studio Nue/Big West only own the moral rights part of the author rights. Moral rights are, in that case, Macross design elements like mecha and character designs. So saying that "the intellectual property rights for SDF Macross still resides with Big West" is an inaccurate statement that need to be corrected in order to reflect the reality.

P.S.: I know you know that people but I think the correction must be done in an effort to avoid confusing other people regarding the Macross-roboteh legal mess.

  2. I hope this is not Jack's final mission and the final season of 24.I too almost gave up on 24 during season 3 but Season 4 more than made up for it.

Anyone play 24 the game? It was a nice PS2 game for back in the day.

I wonder what will happen tomorro on 24.It does look like season 2 again from the scene I saw.

Kiefer said he would love to do a season 9. So no, it's no the end yet.

And welcome to Macross World. B))

  3. I can only think of the following:

    1. I pointed out that Sentinels is the worst piece of trash ever made.

    2. I kindly pointed out that RT fans can't spell or post legible sentences.

    3. I posted Urotsukidoji on an anime suggestion thread.

    4. Kevin McKeever still hates my guts.

    5. My user name was Ozma Lee.

Let me guess dude ... I'm sure reason 5 is the reason why you got banned.

  4. That's exactly why we have good reason to suspect that he came here spoiling for a fight (or was unwittingly sent here by someone who wanted to start a fight by proxy), rather than being motivated by a desire to talk technology.

To be fair, judgments of Robotech's value as a form of entertainment are entirely subjective. You can't really form a cogent argument that a show is "bad" or "good", because those judgments can vary from person to person based on the subjective viewing experience. If you look hard enough, you'll find someone who likes just about anything.

If you want to build a strong case against Robotech, you have to go beyond whether the show is "good" or "bad" to actual critique of the material and its production... there's certainly more than enough there to make an exhaustive case for Robotech being inferior to most modern anime titles. You could, for example, point out that Robotech is, in the final analysis, nothing more than a hastily-assembled amalgam of three unrelated shows with post-facto pretensions of epic storytelling and originality. A strong case could also be made that Robotech has little-to-no artistic integrity, as the show is entirely composed of preexisting animation and stories created by other authors, strung together with a few weak excuses for the sole purpose of making Super Dimension Fortress Macross long enough to syndicate. It's also no stretch to say that their first sequel attempt was more of same, and the ones that followed were little more than attempts to continue profiting from someone else's work (specifically, Macross) without even giving the original authors proper credit. It's also no exaggeration to say that the vast majority of modern anime enthusiasts consider Robotech, and rewrites in general, to be largely without any significant redeeming virtues that would justify the disrespect to the original author's work. We could also take the obvious route and point out that unlike Macross, which has thrived and acquired a sizable fan following despite Harmony Gold's attempts to keep it out of the hands of western audiences, Robotech is a largely forgotten, anachronistic piece of 80's esoterica that few recognize and fewer respect.

As you can see, it's quite possible (and frankly, easy) to verbally demolish Robotech without having to insult anyone or resort to subjective value judgments.

Speaking of robotech not getting respect from today anime fans (read the comments) : http://www.toplessrobot.com/2009/10/live-a..._nerd_boner.php

  5. Not really, other than a few at the beginning of TNG, the "modern" Treks were done by an entirely NEW staff.

True as far as it goes, but Shadow Chronicles IS a sequel to all of ROBOTECH that came before it. The complaint was that Shadow Chronicles was "unoriginal" and "pilfered" becasue it used previous elements of ROBOTECH (not Macross), a claim that is spurious on it's face. A Robotech continuation is logically going to build on elements of the prior Robotech installments, including Sentinels.

And if it looks like I'm working BACKWARDS in responding to posts, to a degree I am. I couldn't remember where I left off so I started with the "newest" page first.

Come on dude, everybody knows the shadow crapnicles was a ripoff of Star Trek not the sentinels.

  6. vinne, while I do agree that it's a waste of time to debate the merits of Robotech on MacrossWorld, this thread was specifically created for "HG and Robotech Debates," so Capt Christopher Donovan is in the right place. If he wanted to discuss Robotech on other portions of the site, well that would be another story.

And we have the right to bash robotech too. In fact, I'm happy that Chris is here with us debating about robotech cause more robotech discussions = more robotech bashing and more robotech bashing = easier for me to control my blood pressure. See guys, I found a purpose to robotech after all these years. B))

  7. Considering they've been out of print since the mid-90's, they're actually easy to find. Most any online bookseller or auction site will have at least one copy for sale. Amazon's got 2 new and 6 used starting from $15, which isn't bad. I got mine from Alibris. Hell, they're up on Macrosshare and probably the iMacross servers too if you want to go that route (filed under Misc.).

Found a copy of Macross II RPG book on Macrosshare. Thanks Seto and all of you guys for your help. :)

  8. "Macross Special Preview" has a break down of the interior sections of the ship, as well as a side view of one of the multi-layered city sections in one of the legs.

Never hear about that book before. I made some researches on the Internet and I found nothing worth mentioning regarding that publication.

  9. I'm not aware of any official publication that actually gives the deck plans and interior layouts for the SDF-1 Macross in its pre- or post-refit form. Macross: Perfect Memory and Macross Chronicle have given interior layouts for a few areas of the ship, but the only notable bits are a bridge layout and a largely unlabeled top-down view of part of the city. I think This is Animation #11: DYRL and/or the Gold Book have an image showing how part of the city is oriented inside one of the engine blocks, but that's about it.

Palladium Books and Dream Pod 9 concocted an interior layout for the Macross II-era SDF-1 Macross as part of one the supplementary materials books for Palladium's Macross II role-playing game. Naturally it's completely unofficial, but if you want to give it a look it's in Macross II: Deck Plans Volume 3.

As always, your are the Bible regarding all things Macross Seto. ^_^ Where I can get that Macross II ?

  10. - When you blame a Gundam fan just because it exists.

    - When you see relation between real life and Macross EVERYWHERE

    - When you call itself "The bigger seeder of Macross of the Latin America"

    - When:

Without count the DVD collection and the 3 diferent versions (original en_us sub, original pt_br sub and remastered en_us sub) of the Original Series SDF-Macross and the repeted torrents just to seed.

That's nothing sir. I have for 58,44 GB of Macross files on my hard drive ...

  11. They're waiting for the LAM to give them something new. By that time, the MF movies will probably be on DVD/Blu-ray, should a RT LAM even be green lighted for production. They can design new stuff and they tried, but it's just that they are pinning their hopes and dreams on a LAM-revival to move it all.

You want my opinion on this sir. I think WB found out about the legal mess and gave a well deserved middle finger to harmonazy gold.

  12. Robotech: Macross Saga is f-ing great. What is Robotech: MS really about? You think its a story about a fighter pilot in a love triangle with two girls? Its really a story about fighter pilot and his struggle with his own homosexuality. And the real ending of the series is when Rick and Breetai fight the Zentradi at the end of Episode 27. Because Rick has passed over into the gay way. They are this gay fighting f-ing force and they are beating the Zentradi. The gays are beating the Zentradi alright. Then its over and the f-ing land. And Breetai been trying to get Rick Hunter the whole time. Finally he has got him. And what are the last f-ing lines they have together? There all hugging and kissing and happy with each other. And Breetai comes up to Rick and says "Microian you can ride my tail anytime!" And what does Rick say?! "No, You can ride mine!"

A part of the script for the robotech LAM I tell you guys ...

  13. Guess what happened guys ? Maverick_LSC locked the Macross-robotech legal thread ( http://www.robotech.com/community/forum/re...mp;pagenumber=9 ) because he was loosing face against Seto. Seto "find pleasure in watching the suffering of others" he wrote. :D Seriously guys, we don't need proofs anymore to confirm that the mods at robotech.com are not only nuts but also sad people. May God help them (if God has patience in dealing with idiots of course ...).

  14. I kinda have to wonder if the mods at HG aren't intentionally misleading the forum members there. I wonder if Kevin and Tommy kinda gave 'em a pep talk and said "Listen, fans will probably ditch our brand if they hear we can't keep using the Macross designs so please try to keep people believing we can."

Considering their past of liars, it would not surprise me. But don't worry. I know MANY Macross fans (Seto over robotech.com and robotechx.com is ONE of them of course) who are spreading the truth regarding the legal mess on the Internet as we speak. Like that, most robotech fans are not going to be fooled by harmony gold dirty tactics.

  15. The saddest part about that forum is that according to them (the members and mods), anything done by Tommy Yune doesn't deserve to be part of the Robotech canon because Macek was not involved in the production. Heck, they consider all the comics published back in the 80s and 90s as the true story for Robotech.

They also claim that Macek is the only one who should be making Robotech sequels

Why I am not surprised ? These robotech fanboys are so in love with their god (aka brainless thief) called carl macek after all. I bet these fanboys are going to construct at harmony gold headquarter a giant gold statue of macek in order to worship him like "ghostless dolls" the moment he dies.
