Advantage of having a Japan PS2 is that you'll also be able to play older import PSX games like VFX-2 with smoother graphics. Disadavantage: about $300 less cash in your pocket.

October 23rd can't come soon enough!!
And yes, once I saw that video with DYRL, which I am sure will be in the game, I was hooked even more so than when I was with the Saturn's DYRL game.
-
I haven't been this excited for a long time!
-
the movie links ain't workin
Paste the link into your browser and it should be ok. It's about 25 megs.
And WDC, I did change the Ruliweb video's extension file name...for some reason, when it trys to unstuff, it says the file is damaged...I tried downloading it 3 times before.
But that globetown video was enough for me...The VF-0, SV-51, YF-19, and YF-21 never looked so good! I am guessing that you can unlock them as you fifnish the game and replay them with those. I also noticed in that video that the Macross had ARMD-1's instead of the Daedalus and Prometheus in some shots. I especially liked the Battroid being able to "roll" on the ground like in the opening of the TV show.
-
I can't get the ruliweb thing to play after I downloaded it.
But I checked out the other one...pretty cool!

Definitely one of the most fun games I've played in a longtime...2D gameplay action in a 3D world, excellent sound and cel shading that isn't painful to look at. Almost as fun as good ol' Gunstar Heroes!! Gamecube owners must own this!! B)
-
I loved my Lynx, Nomad, and yes even the Game Gear...for it's time it was cool.
The GBA SP is the current fave of course, but for all time I'd have to say...I really can't make up my mind.
-
Funny stuff.
-
October 23 is the supposed official date. But a lot of online retailers also say it is October 30, there was one that said it had been pushed to november, and of course, some website said December. I hope not, I was looking forward to some Macross action this month.
-
Won't download...unless you count a whopping 8 bytes a second downloading.
-
Very cool news indeed...hope Sega or Namco grabs the rights to make an updated video game. The old Capcom arcade/SNES UN Squadron version was one of my favorite shooters.
-
Anyone sure about when the actual release date is now?... I see dates ranging from Oct 23, Oct 30, November 25, and Dec 23rd!
I doubt the October launch will be made...the site still has coming soon sections.

Believe me Abombz!, you don't want to know.
-
I voted Genesis myself. It was the first console I bought with my own money, and the first console I made a game on. Here's the first boss character I ever created.
Hey, I remember that!!!
-
anyone else play Warsong for Genesis? that was one badass game, anyone know if there were more in Japan?
Warsong was Langrisser in Japan. There were a lot of games.
-
Yes, ADV has improved a lot. The Mospeada set is a great buy. I was pleased with it.
-
I gots me a question:
What's the difference and/or benefits over using the Slidecard and Swap Magic disk system vs. the Swap Magic disk and No Solder Mod Chip system?
Is one basically cheaper than the other?
Yes. One has a card you use to open the tray...the other has you installing a chip. The Slide card method is the only way I have heard of that allows you to play imports without opening the PS2 up.
There is also this way too:
I went with the slide card...$29 and nothing more than taking off the tray door which can be replaced as normal and no one would be the wiser.
Macross PS2, I'm ready for you!
-
Ahh yes...
Whining, the official sport of Macrossworld.
I thought MWers official sport was making their wallets cry.
That's the event after the whining... or is it before?
-
Looks sorta interesting.
-
The slide card works without having to install any chip. All you have to do is remove the tray door in order to have a little card that "slides" open the tray so you can swap discs. I haven't actually seen it in use but it seems like a good idea for those who don't want to solder. The tray door can be put back and you don't have to open up the casing of the unit, another plus for those that feel uncomfortable doing so.
-
Right back where we started...not knowing what's happening.
-
Most people that are in their late 20's early 30's are likely to pick the 16 bit era. Younger ones will tend to say the PS and PS2 since that's what they remember. B)
