  1. along with the destroid line that imode caught onto on the japanese BBS a couple months back tiying in with the VF0 also being 1/100, I feel thjat yamato is trying to make a cheap line to satisfy all of us NOT limited to macross 0! maybe this line is for the designs noone thought anyone would EVER make in this day and age, cheap to make and hey almsot all of us can afford plus keeping everything in one scale. I am guessing if one does well enough, it will make it into a bigger scale later on.

so what could this mean? more stuff in 1/100 scale lke VF-4, VF-3000, anything from m3., stampeed valk, stuff like that. I think this line is for the stuff that is relatively obscure compared to the VF-1

See , another example of how people get confused about scales.

Shin , 1/100 does not always mean CHEAP or SMALL ; actually the 1/100 Koenig would be BIGGER or just as tall as a 1/48 VF-1 , this also means it will be just as expensive or maybe more and maybe even more detailed.

If you had a 1/48 scale car and next to it you put a 1/100 scale Jumbo Jet which would be bigger ? it would seem by looking at the numbers that the 1/48 car would be bigger cause it´s 1/48 and the 1/48 VF-1 is big but it WON´T BE BIGGER .

why ? cause a real car is proportioanlly smaller than a real Jumbo jet and even at a bigger scale as 1/48 the car will be smaller cause their real life sizes are different.

Same applies to the Koenig and VF-1 , the Koenig is ENORMOUS and the VF-1 is smaller so even if it´s 1/100 it doesn´t mean it will be small.

If they decided to Go 1/48 scale with the Koenig it wouldn´t be the same size as the 1/48 VF-1 just cause they share the same scale , the Koenig will be much beigger hence they went with a smaller scale to make it reasonably tall.

  2. It´s possible too that given the fact that the Protoculture came to Earth they didn´t exactly just stay on Mayan as the only research place hence there could be a lot of other islands or places with protoculture technology on them.

So both Mayan and the protoculture city could be two different research stations from dozens of other places the Protoculture put their feet on and influenced.

There could be Protoculture cities on Jamaica , Japan , Africa or whatever other place they liked and DYRL´s Protoculture city and Mayan could be just another one of those, they don´t have to be the only places they went to specially considering the relevance of what the PC came to do here.

  3.  Well the VF-22 and the VF-17 where both in VF-X2 so could there be a chance they produce them without interfering into Bandai's license?

I´ve thought about this and at the end I really don´t see how Yamato could interfere in Bandai´s M7 license (which I hope is due to expire soon) since VF-X2 and M7 are two totally different licenses.

It´s like the DYRL and SDF Macross liecenses , although they share the same ¨basic¨ designs they have different colour schemes or paint jobs as well as many other tiny details that actually make a difference in this things.

So although the VF-17 , VF-22 and even the VF-500 do appear in M7 that doesn´t mean nothing cause they have different pilot names and things like that that difference them from M7´s valks.

If the fact that a valk appears on both produccions is a barrier or Yamato to make a toy of it then why could they make the VF-11 in the first place ? see ? it also appears in M7 and they had no problems releasing it under the M+ license , why couldn´t they release a VF-5000B or a VF-22 under the VF-X2 license , or even under the M3 license?

  4. When I first started getting back into Macross in mid-2001 I fiddled around with a VD (hah) or Variable Destroid concept. I staretd with a Variable Spartan idea. Now that I look back, I'm not very happy with the aesthetic design, but I still think the concept is neat. Variable Destroids would be like the A-10's or helicopters of our time. Cheaper, less advanced, but highly mobile platforms.

    That´s really great.

I never understood why only the Monster got renewed with the VB-6 Koenig monster and there was never a variable Spartan , your concept kicks ass.

  5. Pardon my possible ignorance but if the Koenig appearred in VF-X2 and hence Yamato can produce it. Can Yamato then produce any mech appearring in that game. I read long ago that the Macross 7 license was still being held by Bandai but we've already seen a game color VF-19 and now the Koenig Monster. Could this be a loop hole to produce others like the Nightmare or VF-22?

Having already two VF-X2 toys made by Yamato is certainly a sign that they´re willing to expand on that license and just skip (for the meantime) M7.

So it´s very possible we´ll see more VF-X2 toys in the next year or 2. Or so I hope

    I´m just praying for a VF-5000 or a FA VF-11

  6. It seems this episode has A LOT of things goin on story-wise.

I wonder what that explosion at the start is all about though.

    Now I really can´t imagine how big things will be by Episode 5 (I ain´t talking about Nora´s twin-pack guys <_<  :p )

The explosion...mebbe they nuked the island...or the actual blast when the SDF-1 crashed.

Thanks Graham for the info. By WMP was not that clear, is than Shin or Roy kissing Nora ?!? Is there a connection to past love ? Can't wait for the 4 th instalment !!!

That's Roy kissing Aries. The 2-timing bugger....he would've already had a relationship with Claudia by now eh?

1st.- The ASS-1 crash landing on earth was already shown in Ep1 , and it would´ve passed at least 9 years since that event by the time of M0 so I don´t know why should they show it once again. And it´s clear from the trailer that that explosion happens on Mayan , I actually think the epicentre is on the cross marked stone that´s shown on earlier Eps.

2nd.- Roy already met Claudia before M0 but they didn´t stablish any kind of relationship , it wasn´t until they met again on SW1 that they fell in love with each other. That´s already explained on the TV series.

  7. Aghhh.....I want Yamato to make the VF-17 and VA-3 from those pics into toys.

    Graham

    Ditto

and add to that the VF-5000 , the X-9 and the VF-14 AND the VF-11C full armored variant

With the Koenig in Yamato´s hands we can be almost sure they´ll continue the VF-X2 line and produce other valks.

now they´ve produced two so the rest won´t be that hard. It seems that all this time buying VF-1 repaints was worth it cause at least that allowed Yamato to justify the spending of making newer lesser known valks without having that much of a financial backlash ;)

  8. New pics!! Sort of! It's looking...well, exactly the same as last time. I'm still curious as to why Yamato went with the new (and smaller) 1/100 scale. I hope its so that there's a bigger gap between the "low end" toys like the VF-0 and the big "deluxe" toys like the 1/48 series.

That´s exactly the reason I think why Yamato went with 1/100 , so that the lower-end figures would get greater sales by not being so close in price to the higher end toys as the 1/60s to the 1/48s.

what I mean is , when comparing the price of a 1/60 to a super deluxe 1/48 the price difference is not very significant so people end up paying that difference and getting the better toy.

So now that the 1/100 are cheaper people will have a bigger gap between the deluxe figures and the standard ones and that means people will have more value for money.

  9. BIG FREAKING MOMA !!!

What I´m about to say comes from the deepest corner of my heart ... from the very first moment I saw the VF-0D on M0 with that awesome delta wings and that cool looking paint job I just fell in love with that work of art from the gods , after that day there was no other valkyrie for me (except maybe the VF-5000  ).

So what does a loyal fan of the 0D have to say about this custom ?

well , I´ll just say ths : it´s worth an orgasm  , it´s just too unbelievably beautiful. This guy just took my dreams and made them real. :)

Someone just oughts to make a wallpaper from those pics

  10. That thing is freaking huge!!

I hope they package it in a space efficient way!

    edited for spelling

Now that you got me all thinking, I wonder how they would package this?

Bomber mode in a 14" sq box seems most likely. It's the mode least likely to suffer any damage in transit and has the smoothest profile.

    Fort Max

Right, and in that same flimsy box. I wonder if toy will be heavy?

I didn't say anything about flimsy boxes :)

If it's heavy (which it more then likely will be), then they'll use thicker cardboard and reinforce it.

They've built this toy for crying out loud, I'm sure a box isn't going to stump them. ;)

Speaking of weight, can we assume here and now that there is almost zero chance of diecast. :p

    Fort Max

I know you didn't say anything about flimsy boxes, I did. I hope they DO use thicker cardboard and reinforce it. You're right about this having "no diecast". Probably it'll be in pvc/abs plastic to keep the weight down.

I hope Yamato doesn´t go the ¨resculpte- YF-19-way¨ with the Koenig  <_< , well atleast we´ve got pics already :)

They're going to,since it'll be the same sculptor who did this, who'll redo the -19.

I meant that I hope for it not to be delayed like the re-sculpted YF-19.

  11. OHHHH YEEESSSS!!!!

I think I just had an orgasm :huh::p:unsure::)

Holy mother of all valkyries , I can´t believe this is actually real , is so freaking beatiful , not only the toy itself which I find very proportional and very well detailed so far but what all this means.

Ok ,The thing we have to focus on is this : They´re doing VF-X2 toys.

So far Yamato has done another VF-X2 toy , the VF-19A. yeah , all this talking is just boring but what does this mean?

With the koenig being released and the YF-19 on the pipeline ( <_< ) I´m guessing the new resculpted VF-19 will be the VF-X2 variant to complement the current Koenig.

Better than that , this could mean that there´s a possibility of seeing the VF-5000 in the future as well as all the other VF-X2 valks , included the VF-17 !

Anyway , I´m so getting this toy , the koenig isn´t my favourite valk but I really like it nontheless

  12. I, too, knew it was his CG Q-Rau. But you must admit it's a pretty slick prank.

If someone ( :p ) hadn't given up the farm so quickly, I was expecting people to asking where the seam-lines are or where the screw holes go!

Heck, this is the toy forum... if somebody hadn't spilled the beans, I'd be expecting this poor CG model to get torn apart -

"The proportions aren't correct! Line Art! Screen cap!"

"Wrong shade of red! Get a color wheel!"

"What scale is it?" "I don't like that scale!" "Make it in the scale I want!"

"I bet it has crappy articulation! It needs 7004 points of articulation!"

    "Die-Cast!"

    "Die-Cast Sucks!"

"Where's the pilot figure? Is she articulated? Is she beautiful? Will she talk to me and tell me I'm not a loser like everyone says?"

    "I don't want a red one! I want a green one! Waaaah!"

    And then finally...

"When's the Yamato YF-19FP coming out?"

    :p

Great CG work... btw... I've been following that thread with mouth dropped wide open.

    Now , THAT¨s comedy.;)

Anyway , really awesome work , it almost got me fooled until I started paying attention to the small details (it was too perfect to be true really).

Anyway , if only Yamato had done something like this with the real Q-rau. I still think this is how the Toy was gonna look like (at least it looked similar to this in the promo photos)

  13. Why don´t we just delete the search feature from the boards and save up some memory from the site ? I mean , it´s clear to me people will just ignore the past 1000 M7 , or the other 30 M0 threads or the past 10 ¨possible macross project¨ threads.

It´s incredible to find people who still haven´t noticed the existence of the PS2 game or the confirmation that Kawamori´s new project has nothing to do with macross , oh well , I suppose not everyone notices a 15+ pages thread. Actually , I think people pretty much ignore all the other sections and go straight to the toys forum. I actually remeber quite a few people who got registered in the boardss but actually never took their time to check out the main site.

  14. I've been watching Macross7 for the first time and came across these awesome VF-1 color schemes. They would make awesome customs - don't you think? or not.

Actually that 1A with the red flames (minus the feathers and all) looks really good , with some improvements and a bit of detai it could actually look quite nice.

All the other look stupid though <_<

  15. OK I´ve recently downloaded Ragnarok the animation and Tenjho Tenge (raws) and as I started watching them I got this pixelated green screen in my media player , I´ve got Nimo Codec pack´s latest version but I still get this green ¨filter¨ on top of the video.

Is this a problem of the file themselves or do I new another codecs ? they´re AVI files BTW.

Some time ago someone posted a link to a site where you could diagnose step by step what specific codec you needed based on the problems you had ; alas , I could find that site anywhere but I remeber it was quite helpful.

Someone please help me on this , any tip is much appreciated.

    Cheers.

  16. i was thinking back to the good old days of gi-joes and such and remembered the sky-striker, atleast i think its called that? so wouldn't be like the bomb, if a certain company(yamato) released a perfect transformation valk in that very scale! :o i don't remember what scale was, but i'm sure someone here had one of these when they were a kid.

now before everyone busts out there flame-throwers on me about yamato sticking to a scale...i'm thinking they could do a very limited numbered release and sell them for GRIP! i have no idea what it would cost, or the details of toy production but would anyone be willing to buy it?

i know this is all just pipe dreams but i know i'd save my pennies to buy something like that. :)

Obviously you´ve been influenced by the idea that scale is equal to size when it´s actually not the case.

That GI-joe toy could´ve been 1/55 , 1/72 , 1/48 or whatever scale they chose independently of the size itself of the toy.

I think you mean you would want Yamato to make a toy of that size , not scale.

  17. Man , Shawn oughts to pin this thread.

The results are amazing , I mean s_i_t_h_l_o_r_d must be on ther drug trade or some crap like that , considering he´s spending that much just in toys imagine how much does he spend on cars , lager and women :blink:

Also , considering that only a mere 234 number of users voted in said thread and from just that number MW has collaborated already with 2693 toys sold to date , that crap about ¨Yamato has no obligation to care about MW members cause we don´t mean nothing to them cause we don´t contribute to their net sales ¨ is just utter BS IMO. Think of all those who didn´t get to vote and have 2 or more Yamatos at home. That has to count for something.

I´m still impressed by these numbers , some people need help with their shopping habits.

Though , if I had to choose between having a good life (nice family, great house , cool car , social life...) and a massive Macross toy collection , I would have to think really hard about it...like for...10 secs ;)

  18. Awesome , I really missed seeing the old 1/60 customs and what better than this particular one , really cool paint-schemme.

If I had the talent I would definitively do a Suabru Imprezza custo colour scheme looking valk , kinda like a macross version of the TF alternator toy.
