1. I just finished watching macross zero as my first macross.  I kinda want to watch the other macross series after watching that, but also kinda not.  I dunno, it was pretty good personally.

    315992

I recommend you watch de original series first then Macross Plus , but you can do it in the order you like really. Also try to avoid Macross 7 so you´ll spare the world another M7 hater or M7 lover B))

  2. My only prob with M0 is the same one I've had with lots of subbed shows lately--namely I can't follow what the heck is going on, because the subbing is so spotty and inconsistent.  I just watched an all-subbed copy of Last Exile and I have no idea what the hell I saw.

Mate , don´t waste your time with HK ripoffs , go get yourself a fansub or whatever and burn it to dvd/vcd for your own personal pleasure.

  3. Ok, just finished MZ. The battles where incredible but the story needed more episodes IMO. Feels really rushed at the end.

Kinda sad when you see the episode with the ocean floor in it. A few years later all that is vaporized by the Zentraedi.

What's the story behind the whole UN-AntiUN thing?

I never heard or saw anything about MZ until I found MW. This was not the case with M7. Did MZ do bad in Japan? Only now are we seeing images of a supposed toy in production.

    315589

Macross Zero was an OVA production , OVA series in japan get minimal promotion as far as I know , unless they get the Movie treatment like Macross Plus had.

IMO the background reason for M0 having such a low profile is the fact that Macross had long been absent of the anime scene since M7 which was , to say the least , controvential and of little effect in terms of reinforcing the fan base or creating a new one. Hence by the time M0 is released anime otakus had little to no interest in the franchise.

Also , Macross Zero caught only the initial steps of mass distributed fansubbing like we see it today and people didn´t notice much of its presence.

That and the most importan of all facts ; we still have no official release outside Japan thanks to we know who.

Also , the lack of a proper and opportune toyline is yet a nother factor for its low popularity , alas , most if not the big majority of the critique online and on magazines have been favourable and possitive for M0 , even from a large % of the fans ( except some people who can´t get over the fact protoculture/over-technology goes beyond mechanical and inertly objects ).

  4. FINALLY!!!

IT TOOK THEM 10 FREAKING EPISODES FOR AQUARION TO FINALLY HAVE A PLOT!!! WOOHOO!:blink:B))

Mate , I´m telling you , if there´s a show that´s good at wasting 10 episodes for the sake of fanservice and sexual inuendo then that´s Aquarion , FORTUNATELLY they´ve finally achieved to restore my hopes of this show with Ep.12 and 13.

For anyone who felt dissapointed with this show just like I did before watching Ep.12 and 13 please do yourself a favour and watch them NOW! cause for the first time in a long time AQUARION IS ENJOYABLE AGAIN!!!

Not only we get the much awaited and delayed background story of the shadow angels and Apollonious+Toma+Siren , we get high quality action ( and animation too).

The characters are free of the terrible cliche´s affecting them since episode 2 onward

and the drama unveiled whithin these episodes is really appealling.

I really hope they actually keep things at this level and finally get in motion with the plot.

I really was loosing hopes for aquarion , now I can say there´s a big chance of it not sucking :D

  5. OK, here you go...it distorted just a little on order to get both planes in the shot, but not noticeably.

    SV-51 Wallpaper

    *_*

thanx for the wallpaper, pretty wicked on my iMac screen

    314210

WOW , just WOW. That´s some sweet wallpaper.

I´m now sure I´ll get this book somehow , but before that, could anyone please post some other WP ? just for personal use ( although I don´t think I´ll take this WP of my pc  )

  6. Love the show, but I am not too impressed with this toy - too many lose pieces for transformation.

    313658

Is that the Chogokin toy or is that a lower quality toy ? cause if it is the Chogokin toy then that some cheap plastic there.

  7. IT´S NOT DEAD!!!!

Do you people actually realize what this means ? Yamato is still aware that Macross makes money for them.

I really had lost any hopes for new Macross toy , this is really nice to hear. Macross is not dead yet.

And for anyone who is disappointed of this not being in 1/48 cause you think 1/60 is too small , READ MI SIGN! ; screw 1/48.

Hopefully it´ll be followed by a whole line of new mecha toys.

  8. The problem with aquarion is not the characters at all , it does have character development , we know who everyone is and how they respond to different situations in their own way , the actual problem lies with its premise and its plot development. The actual Story hasn´t gone far at all , it´s been all about the characters , there is no plot setting for the characters to interact with.

The trainning is getting annoying at this rate , the only good outcome of their efforts has been those kids rescued from their dreams so far.

You cold say : yeah but they´ve advanced a lot by facing their fears along the episodes.

So ? they still don´t show any sort of unity between them and they still have no direct relationship with their enemies , there are no personal conflicts with them , they only worry about the enemy when they show up to abduce citizens and that´s all , it like going out for picnic at weekends.

The only character that has shown the opossite to this is Apolo who has lost his best friend to the Fallen Angels.

The Aquarion seems to be a mere tool for the characters and their past lives are of no significance to the characters or their current conflict ( I´m sure this will chance sometime , but it should´ve been developed earlier in the series ).

Aside from this points Aquarion is still imprissive and has a lot more potential to progress trough the episodes alas it will still be remembered as yet another series suffering of ¨slow and uninteresting first episodes- syndrome¨.

  9. after more than 10eps we still don´t know anything about Prana

    You just needed to ask.

    Look here.

A better question would be what are these Elements they talk about, and there is an answer even fort that, looking in Hindu lore :)

the Aquarion´s origin , the ancient society , the Solar Wing , nothing

I think I've heard they should show something around mid series. Unfortunately I got stuck at 6th because of troubles with my friends with broad band <_<

By the way, I found a Japanese blog with Aquarion screenshots. Just look at the quality! Never knew Japanese got such good TV.

Well, I'll try to watch even Eureka 7, just to be in-topic.

    FV

    313170

I know what Prana is , I actually looked for it and other terms when the series started ( Aquarion shares a lot of it language with Arjuna so its not difficult to understand) , I´m just saying it is not thoroughly explained within the show as it should be , not everyone is suppossed to know those terms beforehand.

  10. Are you sure you´re mistaking one show with the other right ?

I´m not saying you have the obligation to like Eureka 7 , but  you´ve clearly have not seen enough of this show nor of Aquarion ( i´m suprised you´re not bored or annoyed  by its pace yet   ) , do yourself a favour and watch Eureka at least till Ep. 10 , it´s this kind of show that sets the characters relatioships in the first 5 or so episodes and then the thick plot kicks in ( Just like Macross ) , it really has a nice pace , and unlike Aquarion the plot unveils itself neatly through time with no filling Eps in middle.

IMO Eureka is the contrary to Aquarion , while the first  advances continously and gains in content plot-wise Aquarion revolves around itself without showing any progress in its premise ( after more than 10eps we still don´t know anything about Prana , the Aquarion´s origin , the ancient society , the Solar Wing , nothing).

    312984

I wouldn't really say that. True Eureka 7 seems like it's taking its time to develop the characters but Aquarion in my opinion does that but at the same slowly deal swith plot as well. So far in AQuarion we do know who found Aquarion, what it can do and is learning to do. As far as Atlantis goes, we know that the Solar Wing betrayed his kind to help the wingless ones(humans). Before that he was with Toma it appears and was extremely powerful. I get that due to the comments those he fights against. We learn with each episode more about the personalities of the characters and some of their background.

Aquarion doesn't seem to be in your fact about it's development but it's still there with each episode when you take into account the character's actions, how they interact with each, and actually how they respond to the different test and lessons they are taking and learning. At first I didn't know the point of the lessons but I think that's the actual character development and the reason why the episodes are being done this way. You get to know the characters by their actual experiences and how they act during these events and they get to now themselves it seems.

True I'd like to see more about the Fallen(angels) and I hope they show more soon. In fact they might be doing that now, but without fansubs I don't think we'll know.

I guess I just like Aquarion's presentation more then Eureka's. SThey have abou the same amount of subbed episodes out. I'll check out 7-10 of Eureka tonight to give it an equal chance, the way I gave Aquarion though.

    312991

Please do so , I´m sure you´ll have a great time watching it :) ; I thought the same way before I actually spent some time with E7 , I wasn´t convinced till I watched Ep.9 but now I´m sure it´ll rock.

I´m personally still hoping Aquarion will catch up in content , my only grip with it so far is the lack of progression plot-wise , it´s is true there´s a lot of character develoment there but the way Kawamori has presented it is a tad monotonous with all the trainning , I´m not an action-junkie but a plot-junkie so the action scenes arejust a bonus to it all. Aquarion´s premise was great , hopefully it´ll deliver. ;)

  11. I don't know. I've watched up to episode 6 so far and it's not really that interesting. I mean the first two episodes were pretty cool. The characters are interesting but really it's not holding my interest. I was hoping I'd see more of Renton learning to pilot or piloting. Yet all I'm getting is him messing around with these kids or being taken advantage of by the adults in Gekko State. Really a let down, even if the mechs are nice to look at and are interesting. The emotion that was in the first two episodes is pretty much gone I feel.

The music in Eureka 7 is pretty good though. I love the opening.

Aquarion I feel is the better of the two. I really like the character interaction between the characters and the fighting is always interesting, even if a little predictable. I just wish more fansubs were coming out.

I guess my taste just go in the direction fo Aquarion this time. Wish it didn't since it seems Eureka 7 still has fansubs coming out.

  12. I've finally watched up to episode # 8 of both Eureaka 7 & Aquarion and out of the 2 shows, I'm enjoying Eureaka 7 far more.

The characters are just so much more likeable and cute and the interaction between the characters is great fun. The characters in Aquarion on the other hand I just find annoying.

I also prefer the mecha designs and action in Eureaka 7, it's got a definite old school 80s mecha anime charm to it.

Watching the mecha fights in Aquarion though makes me feel like I'm watching a PS2 mecha fighting game. Plus the Aquarion designs are too busy with far too much kibble.

Definitely looking forward to the Eureaka 7 toys.

For all of you who are reading this thread and haven´t whatched Eureka 7 yet , LISTEN TO THE MAN UP HERE !!!

Most posts in internet msg boards regarding anime are exaggerated quite a bit when favouritism is a factor in such reviews , but , this series is just SO MUCH MORE enjoyable than Aquarion.

Contrary to all expectations ( MYSELF INCLUDED ) Eureka 7 turned out to be the neat show of the year and Aquarion the mediocre one ( till this point in time). Believe me , if you like nice and witty mecha shows you´re gona be delited with this series.

IMO , just as Graham said , Eureka 7 simply exudes that ¨old school 80s Anime Mecha Show¨ kind of vibe ; yeah , it´s a BONES production , but despite this fact the unexpected ease with wich the story and characters relationships flow in this show is just enourmously GREAT.

I´m suprised this show hasn´t caught much attention from anime fans as much as Aquarion did in the beginning , that tells you a lot about advertinsing I supposse ; As sad as it sounds Kawamori is a great mecha designer , as seen in E7 , but as a director ( as of lately ) he really needs to cut down on the crack and end his Monthly suscription to ¨tree Lovers Fan Club¨

OH , for all of you go Watch Ep.09 , Dudes , the plot is just getting better and better. This is by all means not the kiddie anime it appears to be , great action and drama. ;)

  13. hahahaha , mate , this lad MGREXX makes me laugh  , did anyone notice he signed as a new member only to post a thread full of sh*t towards those very same people bashing him in this thread ? Dude , not even our local Troll can escape from cliche  that´s a shame I thought we had something special here

Aaaaanyway , that´s just going back into the blackhole again so nevermind that past paragraph.

Back to topic ; the only toy I´ve ever brought from Toynami was the VF-1S SD figurine released some years ago so I suppose I´m lucky of not having bought anything else afterwards from what I hear of the QC.

My bet is on some Invid Troopers actually , why ? they´ve and easy design to model and of course , there are existing molds for that design so in wouldn´t be hard for them.

The Tread or cyclones are too much of a hazzle right now for them so I doubt they´d venture into that kind of enterprise.

  14. Well you can put Latin-American countries in that edict as well.  Nations and cultures such as the ones we're talking about place their females of "proper breeding and courtship age" at about 15 or so...

:o We do?? really? Where did you heard or read that?

I don't know if it's true, but I've heard there were peoples where man had a life expectance of around 30 years, and at 13 kids were already adults, I mean they had even the body of an adult.

I think it is unlikely this would happen in the present world where general life expectance is around 70, though.

    FV

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA where´s that ? in the Amazon Jungle ? or you read that in an article from 40 years ago

mate , most latinamerican countries have a life expectancy superior to 65years for men and like 70-72 for women , and in the case of Argentina , Brasil , Chile , etc...most young people (like 20-30 years old ) avoid marrying in favour of their job. The stadistics show latinamerica is rapidly going the same route of an aging population like some european countries.

It´s the japanese people who have some sort of fetish around women coming-of-age at an earlier stage of life...that and tentacles of course.

  15. I typically jump at any chance to bash Trek, but in this case I can’t let the greater crime committed by this article go unchallenged.

The article uses one of the many errors often made when statisitics are used in the media. A correlation does not necessarily equal a cause. Only when one examines all factors involved in a comparison and can prove (burden of proof) that one factor alone is responsible, then one can firmly establish cause. However, investigative reporting often makes the mistake of relaying the words of talking heads, reporting theories that they present as facts.

The article also uses circular reasoning rather than presenting the underlining realities of the criminals. They are trying to make a link between Trek and criminal behaviour using the result of that criminal behaviour to establish the cause of the criminal behaviour. Anyone with a brain can simply ask themselves what would the criminal do if he/she were to prey upon children? The criminal would appeal to what children enjoy, as any criminal predator would.

And since Trek is very popular, what method do you think criminals will use more often? Aha! Now we’re beginning to think aren’t we.

Naturally, I don’t expect people will even bother thinking when they read this article, so I expect more of this trash to go on for years enjoying the success of continued print. According to the media, stabbings are caused by heavy metal music, video games are responsible for shootings, and the devil trains terrorists. <_<

There´s just one problem with your theory.

In order to attract young children pedophiles would actually have to collect other kinds of toys an merchandise like Pockemon and crap like that , not Star Trek , last time I checked pedophiles were actually condemned for lurking around young children , NOT for messing up with other Star Trek fans.

Star Trek merchandise like those found by investigators in the cases exposed could only lure Star Trek fans and from what I know children are not much into Star Trek or SW nowadays ( I know ROTS is selling like hotcakes today but that doesn´t guaranty children will be into it for too long).

Sorry for the Man faye thing , I thought of posting something nice afterwards to countermeasure it but everything I thought of posting could be taken the wrong way ( like puppies= bestiallity). :p

    post-26-1118253917.gif

  16. Pedophiles do not discriminate between fiction and reality , for them children are no more important than a bag of crisps. They have no remorse when looking at disturbing pics of child abuse and the like.

Pedophiles deserve the worst of this world for such disturbing acts, so , for all you perverts out there in the internet , I give you the worst of this world:

    closing%20arguments.jpg

    Man Faye !

HAHAHA how´s that for mental abuse !

Sorry i just had to do it , the thread had way too much bad vibe already.

  17. Finally , I finally got to see the supa-hyped new SW movie.

First of all , I AM NOT a SW fan ( far to young so I never experienced the original´s culture revolution, sorry ), nor am I fan of any other kind of occidental Sci-Fi series for that matter so you could say I have no bias against or in favour of the old or new movies.

so what I thought of it ?

well , to put it shortly , it´s a nice and adequate addition to the all-time famous saga , being very efficient in terms of completing the full circle.

    in a scale of 10 I´d give 7/10.

Why ? first , I´m not passionate about the whole ( 9 episodes) plot , nor the characters , again , I ain´t a fan so for me it´s simply part of films´s culture , meaning I´ll strictly critisize it by its value as a stand alone film not as a franchise , nor as a culture phenomenon ( which I consider ir to be its greatest asset BTW).

So from a independantly produced film POV ( just like any other 1 part film ) I would have to say it´s a pleasant movie experience BUT it´s certainly not outstanding movie in its own, IT DOES HAVE SOME DAAAAMN GOOD SCENES , but is just that , scenes , about 60% of the film it´s like going for walk in the park while the rest of it partially grabs your FULL attention.

Anakin´s progression towards becoming Vader , particularly his fight with Obi-wan , the little padawans masacre and his role in Windu´s death are about the only real sweet spots of the whole movie. I supposse I was expecting more drama in the events leading up to the Jedis´s fall , but it was as if Lucas wanted for those scenes to get out of the way much too quickly so he could finally show off Vader´s appearance into the movie , we get no action or drama when seeing the Jedi fall one after another , not even a sign of real shock or emotion from Yoda or the others ( Obi-wan´s reaction had more to do with Anakin than with seeing his mates being killed IMO ).

other bad points of the movie were that of Vader screaming ¨NOOOOOO¨ like some kind of cartoon character when confronted with Padme´s death which was waaaay too lame for a this kind of flick, specially after all the good scenes , it could really have been executted more dramatiaclly without resorting to that level of cliche.

And what was with the Wookies ? Chewi´s cameo was REALLY out of place/time and had no real value to the whole film , it was as if he was included for no reason at all except pleasing the fanboys , and it was a shame it was done that way , really. Same with R2 , it was as if he was a reincarnation of Rambo , he killed droids like nothing, the intent for making him look cute was so obvious it wasn´t funny anymore , same with Yoda´s innocent little green dude attitude

That being said , This movie was really good , not a revolution in film making I may say but certainlly a WHOLE better than the past 2, and really worth going to the cinema and watching it.

It wasn´t shockingly impressive as I expected it to be but it wasn´t in any way a let-down , something that could´ve happened given the first 2. I think Lucas redeemed himself as the original SW mastermind/creator but not nearly close to some kind of god among film Directors.

  18. yeah , the premised behind Samurai Champloo was good but it seemed like nothing great happened in the show really , I stopped watching it after the few episodes.

Tenjou Tenge is great , my only critique would be that the anime versions resembles little of the non-school trournament side of Ten Ten , thus , leaving the impression of being yet another school-tournament/who´s stronger kinda series when the manga actually makes a point about this and stands it apart from the crowd.

The other anime I watched recently was Samurai 7 , a retelling of the classic , somehow the characters never grew on me so i didn´t continue watching it anymore.
