    VF-25?

Thanks. I tried to emulate Kawamori's style and design ideas, forgetting the trademark ground shading/background marker indication.
  2. Thanks. I based them on the leg doodles, which show a heavy Aquarion influence. So, I figured he's contemplating on pulling a YF-21 and have the legs stored internally. It would allow for more flexible legs and better feet, while not having to bother with aerodynamic efficiency. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the Aquarion-ish direction the sketches are going. They look too busy with needless details that don't look efficient. I'm more of fan of the sleeker VF-0 approach to VF design. I figured it would be interesting to see a blended-wing-body design, since that's more apparently futuristic IMO. Doing something radical like making the landing gear part of the feet design, instead of the thrusters.. Based on the initial SV-51 sketches though, the design could evolve a lot. Even the VF-1 of old started out vastly different from the design we came to love.

    VF-25?

Per title. I felt like sketching when I saw Graham's kindly provided Newtype Magazine, featuring some rough doodles by Kawamori for the prospective new VF design for the 25th anniversary series. For dramatic effect I PSed it as a blueprint too, which I like better. Enjoy.
  4. You were saying? Being at home with a fever and having not much else to do besides laying in bed, I had a "Big Froating Head" moment. I'm no Kawamori though and I half assed this sketch, not bothering much with perspective and spacing: Anime magic FTW! I agree with Azreal's general assessment and based the drawing on that, besides on Kawasan's sketches. I imagine the final design having a regal and angelic feel to it. Slender legs, wings sprouting from the shoulders, engine exhausts on the back (think Classics Jetfire), etc.
  5. Thanks. Looks like he's been revisiting the YF-21 and YF-19 for inspiration. *Reads previous page* D'oh! The character art style looks the same as with the Kiss Dum characters, which isn't suprising.
  6. I'm too holding out for the rumoured Takara made leaderclass Starscream, for pretty much the same reason. The most impressive toy I've seen on the net is deluxe '08 Bumblebee. Looks like a far better representation than '74 Bumblebee deluxe does, while incorporating a neat gun and good poseability. He looks great, especially for a toy that size/price. If I'd get only one toy of the movie line it would've been that one.
  7. It has already been sold to a consortium of investors a couple of months ago. Dave Richards, former captain of the Lucky Strike F1 team and owner of ProDrive (IIRC), had a major imput in the deal and will have a seat in the board of directors. The good news though is that they'll still have ties to Ford (and Volvo) in the matters of engine and safety system development.
  8. Not THAT much unlike super-dimensional-fortress, is it? Seriously though, are such titles often used mixingly in Japan, in general, and for Macross in particular? Perhaps even the kanji symbols are similar..
  9. I reckon they want to pull a Suzumiya Haruhi, thusly building the music around the main VA/Idol. I prefer a more edgier sound though. M7/Hummingbird produced quite a few catchy songs that are still great to listen too. Too bad they centered on absolutely the worst of the bunch in the series.
  10. Well, the filming took place in New Mexico I believe and perhaps the F-22 simply had to loiter for a long long time.. Also, it could be a meassure to make Starscream more readily identifyable as being the slick F-22 with orange/yellow reheat cones. Starscream being truer to a normally operated F-22 than the USAF jets is kinda amusing.
  11. I don't think we've seen the last of Kamina quite yet. Or else it's either the priest's son or the brother of the 3 sisters piloting it.
  12. HAMMER TIME But this isn't the caption thread.. Wether the story is going to be alright/decent/bad really depends on the director. What's equally important is the premise, which is probably going to be Kawamori's main involvement, apart from mechadesigns. In SDF it was aliens that had similar origins as man and thus were quite alike, symbolizing the relatively small differences that had to be overcome to stop the war, with music being a great tool to emotionally unite them. M7 kinda went overboard with it, transforming it almost into a "Magical Girl" show. Still, both series were geared toward teens, and that's likely to majorly influence new Macross as well. I don't have any high hopes for the story being fully geared towards adults.
  13. Well, he says "Ore wa dame da," if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps they're premium sandwiches, costing more because they're autotransforming..
  14. Sara - "Don't tell me you're getting cold feet."
  15. "I'm no good." if I'm not mistaken. Then again, my exposure to Japanese has been limited to anime..
  16. Pretty funny. Especially how he 'launched' his drink. As said, seems to be aimed at grown-ups-who-were-fans-as-kids-of-the-original indeed.
  17. Sara: "A pilot who's blind. Figures..."

    The Ghost pic thread

The source is online streaming, so that's why the quality is poor.

    The Ghost pic thread

hmm. the stand-alone Ghost looks like an atractive proposition. "Let's do the Twist!" Ha! Just noticed the Ghost makes a cameo in Kiss Dum ep 2!
  20. I'm assuming this series will be an alternate universe reboot, like Gundam SEED, borrowing from what has come before, but not connected to it. As such, I believe this project will draw on the timeless mainstays of the past, but present it with a twist in a comtemporary fashion and doesn't have to fit in with the relatively cluttered canon Macross amassed over the past 25 years.
