1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Damn, I hope summer comes fast, I'm so excited for this. I hope we see a TV Max type VF-1A, Hikaru 1J, VF-1D, and we have already seen the Focker 1S. If the above 3 come out, I will buy them. -

No No doubt they would to collectors, but its all in the hands of retailers, would they think they would sell to kids? While the tf design team may think so, ultimately retail would make that decision, not the design team. Given the divided opinions on the issue, I doubt Hasbro will ever let Fun Publications create any figure that has both collector's appeal, and brand recognition, again. I personally, wanted a chance to get the rest of the seekers at retail, either mass market or as an exclusive, and not the exact ones in the box set. I was not too happy with Thundercracker's pale greenblue paint apps, could care less about Dreadwing, same for the decepticon Bumblebee, thought Dirge just getting repainted wasn't worth it, and thought Thrust's wings were too stubby. Hasbro could have told Fun Publications that they couldn't use those characters, and could have waited til a retailer jumped for the chance to release the seekers. Not to say this would have happened, but it could have. -
Kaiyodo Revoltech Figures
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I only had 1 revoltech before this weekend(Black getter robo ftw), but this weekend my LCS had a buy 1, get the other 1/2 off, and I bought the yellow movie EVA and Dix Neuf. Very impressed by both, blown away by the EVA. Are the TV EVAs as good as the recent movie EVA revoltechs? Right now, I am eyeing the upcoming labors, and Tetsujin 28/Black ox. Come on now Kaiyodo, this line has popular and obscure mecha, where the hell is our guymelef Escaflowne? -

No one knows whats up with the Macross 7/VFX2 license, so no VF19's yet, but there are 2 versions of the 1/60 YF-19 out. I hope the hobby mags next month have more pictures! -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The tailfins only look smaller to me due to the angle of the picture. If you want to talk about a dissapointing tail fin section, look at the toynami 1/100. The front may look stubbier but I doubt it will look like that with the gear up. The 1/48 had a longer nose, but even thats been disputed as being inaccurate to the lineart, and made for the sake of having a more realistic fighter mode. The only thing I see missing from the landing gear is the pin that lets the wheels spin, and honestly, not seeing that thing makes for a less toyetic appearance. The other small details are viewable but its such a small picture in the scan that you can barely see it. Why would it be? Sure at a smaller scale, parts are smaller, but there are more likely less parts on the new 1/60 than on the 1/48. Not to mention it does not make any sense at all for it to be more expensive. I'm not selling mine. Why should I? Surprised to see the 1/60 VF-1 finally become perfect transformable after 7 years of waiting for it to happen? The number one thing EVERYONE on this board wanted when the first 1/60 came out, was it to be perfect transformable. I'm glad I won't be paying close to $200 USD for a VF-1 with the detail we have come to expect from yamato. Its obvious how everyone wanted new versions of the Macross Plus valkyries. Yet no one complained once we got them. This is no different. Since the VF-1 is a popular mecha, I am not surprised to see it again. People complained about the Macross Plus valks, and eventually the YF-19 was made in 1/60, and in a few months, the 21. People are happy about that. People were upset at various things over the original 1/60 VF-1. Things that fans wished were addressed. The time for that has come with the new 1/60. The 1/60 line has the a lot of other different valks in it, so why not another new VF-1, for consistency? Not to mention cheaper, and with more variety. The 1/48 remains the premium VF-1, with unparalleled detail and moving parts, while the 1/60 will be cheaper, at the sacrifice of detail and moving control surfaces, and undoubtedly simpler armor, but in return will have more variety. With that the 1/48 should be able to maintain its value. Have you handled the original 1/60? I'm not sure if you have, but I have one, and a 1/48, and am very excited for the new 1/60. NO ONE WOULD. Thats like charging the price of a tree for a twig. Big difference between the supposed 10,000 yen pricetag, and 14,800 yen. Everyone does. I don't expect them to be, and I think its a blessing in disguise. It would be a nightmare trying to keep a track of all micromissles. I doubt that will change, so I still fail to see why everyone is worried about the new 1/60 being released. Everyone here knew the old 1/60 had room for improvement, and everyone wondered what it would be like, some still wondered, even after the 1/48 was released. I was one of them. Putting the new VFs at the same price or higher is just a kick in the nuts to me. It is, and its a stupid business decision. Honestly guys, when has a smaller Yamato valkyrie ever costed more than its bigger counterparts? The heavy 1/60 ELINTseeker was cheaper than a unarmored 1/48. The 1/72 Macross Plus toys never costed more than the upcoming nearly all plastic YF-21. They actually costed less than 1/2 the price. I think its ridiculous to even think the new VF-1 will cost as much as the 1/60 VF-0. Laughable even. -

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
To be honest, I like the canopy being bulbous. The original 1/60's canopy might have been lineart accurate, but its not realistic for a fighter that the UN would be using in the near future. All current modern fighters fielded by the US have bubble canopies and excellent all around vision(well the fighters that actually are fighters, not the F-117). The original 1/60 had a canopy that would provide horrid vision to the rear, much like the Russian fighters up until recently. It may be a misstep with regards to accuracy to the lineart, but its a step ahead in realism to me. Sure it isn't much visibility towards the rear on the bulbous canopy, but its more than the original. -

Actually someone has yet to accurately translate whatever the hell the magazine said aside giving us a babelfish translation. Its just assumption thus far due to seeing 10,000 yen in that article that everyone thinks it is close to $100. I hope its not the price, and we all know babelfish can give us a vague translation at times. -

I WANT AERIALBOTS!! Cool planes, but the old toys, man those guys deserved better! It would be awesome to see new aerialbots, each fully articulated, with different molds, and modern jet modes. Hell keep them vintage jet modes for all I care, they had good planes, either way works. Octane's paint job is what threw me off initially too. -
Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Your forgetting to say that people think its impossible to fit the bigger supposed anime accurate legs into a sleek fighter that remains perfect transformation and still retains retractable landing gear. Obviously with the D stance, it is impossible. You may think the D stance manages to have big legs with a sleek fighter mode, but it has a bunch of gaps all over the place, ugly outstandingly inaccurate landing gear(no wonder it was a garage kit, Kawamori would never approve that!), and exposed arms from the robot mode that clearly give away the fact that it transforms. That may work on a transformer, but its frowned upon on a valkyrie. -

On a parts swapping resin kit, not a toy. Obviously, you love the D stance kit, skip the Yamato 1/60 YF-21, and buy yourself the D stance. Then you'll have nothing to complain about. -

I heard the Toynami Beta was going to be $250, and none of us even know if they actually tooled up a sturdy connection for the Alpha and Beta. Wasn't the one shown at cons just a resin prototype? I haven't watched much of Mospeada but plan to. The inaccuracies of the CM sculpt do not bother me as much, so long as it is durable, I may pick it up some day. -

A LOT MORE. Even when the first CAD picture of the battroid mode came out, everyone was foaming at the mouth because it was finally perfect transformation. There was even a group here called the "friendly yamato defenders" or something else that sounded cornier. Trust me, the excitement for the new 1/60 does not even compare to the first announcements of the original 1/60, and original 1/48 combined. Not as much as the 1/48 Because we won't be paying close to, or more than $200 for it, I like the 1/60 size of the VF-1, and always wanted a PV 1/60 VF-1. This may finally destroy my desire to own a Bandai HCM. The second bulge aft of the cockpit may be necessary to house the internal heatshield. Honestly, I could care less. I just want something in the size of the 1/60 VF-1, cheaper than current Yamato releases, and most importantly, sturdy. We all know Yamato does a very good job with regards to detail and accuracy, but I want something durable and sturdy. The original 1/48 is a very sturdy toy(despite the many paranoid collectors who are afraid to touch it), and could be manhandled, as mine is still in one piece. I think there is a chance the new 1/60 may be more durable, due to the transformation possibly being simpler(since it is smaller, there is probably some shortcuts). -
The VF-171 pilots do not seem so cannon fodder like now that I think about it. The only reason Ozma was unharmed was because he hid behind an astroid. Not all the VF-171 guys bit the bullet, but most of them did, along with Ozma's wingman. While its obvious Ozma's got some experience and is in a command position, theres no doubt we will see some ass kicking VF-171 pilots with a lot of experience too. The only difference is that they are with NUNS and Ozma is SMS. I don't mind the look of the steroid armor on Ozma's valk. I'm happy that there is already more than 1 armor set available for the VF-25. Damn the valks were beautiful in this episode.

Hey whats the background info on the Black Selena? Is it an upgrade kit for the Aestavalis? Who uses it? Does it make important appearances, or is it one of the memorable mecha that only show up for a few seconds but manage to have a following(like the ELINTseeker)? -
Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The Dstance is a model, and if I'm not mistaken a garage kit at that, not meant to withstand handling, merely made for display and occasional posing. A toy and model are completely different animals. -
Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Actually no, Drifand was one of the first here that mentioned how the 1/48 could be improved. Since he presented it in a constructive manner, no one gave him flack. Yamato does deserve criticism with regards to quality control, but I don't think they should be deemed lazy with regards to the skinny legs on the YF-21. Also, they could have been working on that toy for years, and if thats the case, thats anything but lazy. Any transforming toy will have some sort of compromise. The toy vs model debate could go on for years, and it has gone on that long since some toy companies started to cater towards adults. For those who want a huge leg battroid, the best bet is either a Hasegawa, a scratch build, or a resin kit. None would survive the stresses associated with a transforming toy. A huge leg for now may not be possible with a sleeker underside on the fuselage, and a sleek fuselage/side profile is integral to the aesthetic of the YF-21. -
What order of Valkyries do we want to be released in
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 replied to ruskiiVFaussie's topic in Toys
A good first lineup, and accurate to series beginning would be Hikaru's VF-1J, VF-1D, and cannon fodder VF-1A. Next could be Focker VF-1S, Max type VF-1A TV, and low vis VF-1D. Then Max/Milia VF-1J, with Kakizaki VF-1A rounding that wave out. With that we have 3 waves with every valkyrie pilot main character accounted for. -

I'd love to see the Vermillion team in the first few releases. It consists of Hikaru's first valkyrie(well first one officially issued to him), and the valkyrie Max used in his most memorable battles. Also I think it would be great if Hikaru's 1J and Focker's 1S come in the grey that the original DYRL Max type VF-1A had, instead of white. -

Someone mentioned earlier that the arrows on the head are changed to black. Also the inclusion of Hikaru instead of Roy. Since I plan on getting a VF-1J Hikaru, it wouldn't matter to me, since I will probably get a Roy as well. -

I'm now realizing why Hasbro is going to use the light colored Starscream that was on ebay a few weeks back; it truly is more accurate to the animation. Starscream definitely stole the show. I just finished watching the special. I'm impressed. I hope Prowl and Bumblebee have figures with their battle masks on. I wonder if Prime will eventually use a gun, and if Ratchet gets a gun too. Starscream, Prime and Ratchet are my favorite characters so far. -

Hikaru 1J. Also I had no idea his 1S had different markings after Roy died. The Hikaru 1J would be a good first release, since it is popular, and if a GPs1 kit comes soon after, collectors have a "canon" valk for it to connect to.
