  1. AmiAmi is showing the GX-58 Andromeda as shipping in April instead of February. -Kyp
  2. Apparently, the fat lady was a little late making it to the stage. -Kyp
  3. Andromeda next month, can't wait!!! -Kyp
  4. Yes, the GX 57 lacks the folding wings, see my review and UN Spacy's review. The 1/350 is very big and very complex to put together. The 1/500 is much easier to built and can be built with minimal painting. I posted a picture of it and the 1/500 on page two of this thread. The only thing I did to the 1/500 is mix paint to cover up the sprue marks and panel line it with a GM02 Gundam marker. -Kyp
  5. Crap, I never knew it had light leaks till you mentioned it and I tried it in a dark room. Thank God it's not noticeable in a lit room. -Kyp
  6. I don't know man, I've been trying to figure out that one myself. It's almost as if they don't want this film to make as much money as possible... -Kyp
  7. I had two of these with the intention to panel line one with my Grey GM02 Gundam marker and keep the other one untouched, but because I wasn't going to be able to pay for my Andromeda pre-order, I had to sell my unopened one. As a result, I won't be panel lining the one I have on display since it's unlikely that I'll be panel lining the Andromeda. My reasons? Since the Yamato seems to have been produced in smaller numbers than the BPX-01 was, I have a feeling that the Yamato will go up in value. Also, I think the Andromeda will end up being worth even more since there's never been any produced other than the way over price Marmit version. I therefore don't dare try and panel line it either. Edit~ Here's a couple of pictures of it with my 1/500 version: -Kyp
  8. So, is this movie a re-telling of the T.V. series? Just making sure as that's how this seems to me after finally watching part one... -Kyp
  9. Yes...yes...buy it, buy 2 of them!! Buy them all so I can get my T.V. version, muhahaha!! -Kyp
  10. Nice, but I'm gonna wait and see if a T.V. version is made. -Kyp
  11. This. I'd rather watch MF's worst episodes over and over again than just one episode of Macross 7. -Kyp
  12. In Universe, I wonder if they're gonna say the design is a knee-jerk reaction to the basic superior performance of the VF-27... -Kyp
  13. Yuck, what a craptacular design, I think I'm gonna be sick... -Kyp
  14. I'm going to be getting mine as soon as AmiAmi get's theirs in. As for a color match, have you considered Tamiya IJN (Kure Arsenal) Grey? http://www.freetimetrains.com/tamts66.aspx -Kyp
  15. Indeed, the only reason I went with Black was because the BPX-01 was done in Black. -Kyp
  16. I bought another Yamato because I think that it would look better panel lined with a GM02 Grey marker rather than Black. Consequently, I don't need two Yamato's so I'm going to be selling mine for $200 shipped since it was panel lined and I feel that the "collector's value" is diminished as a result. At least I will get most of my money back, lol.
  17. I'd like to know this myself. From what I've been able to see, it appears that it doesn't have any opening doors on it...which to be honest, suits me just fine. -Kyp
  18. Just watched the subbed version of the anime...not as good as I hoped it would be and I hated the unresolved part of the movie where But I did find it kinda messed up that -Kyp
  19. Yes, you were indeed. I thought about that too, but the groves are too thin and deep for the marker to get to, unfortunately. -Kyp
  20. Thanks guys. I think it looks much better too. The way it was kinda bugged me because it has all those panel lines, but none of them were painted in and it was like all of Yamato's VF's...fantastic sculpt, but with nothing panel lined, it just looks kinda bland to me. I forgot about mentioning this yesterday. This is one of the two areas on the ship that gave me pause about marking them: Obviously, it's EXTREMELY difficult to get to those areas without marking outside the lines. Not to mention being able to get your finger in there quickly to wipe off the excess. But that's not the only thing you guys need to be aware of...when I got to the section circled in red, I obviously went outside the line and used a q-tip with Taymiya Acrylic Paint Thinner to take off the excess as I found it will remove Gundam marker ink a while back. No big deal right? That's just Grey plastic, right? WRONG!!!! WARNING, THE PLASTIC IS RED AND IS ACTUALLY PAINTED GREY!!! THE ACRYLIC THINNER WILL REMOVE THE GREY PAINT IF YOU RUB TOO HARD!!! If that part of the ships plastic is that way, it's safe to assume the rest of the ship is that way too. Do not use acrylic thinner to remove the excess marker! As you can see from the pics, I mixed Grey paint to match and repaint the area circled in red in the above photo. Whew!! That gave me a huge scare and made me glad I was able to use my fingers everywhere else on the ship to wipe off the excess. So needless to say, if you decide you want to detail that area, use extreme caution! Another area of caution is the bottom metal section of the hull that's painted red. If you go outside the lines, you won't be able to rub off the excess with your finger, you'll have to use a q-tip with acrylic thinner to to wipe off the excess. I had no trouble with this, the only area I went outside the lines was the bottom rear torpedo doors where the hull is painted red. I had to use the thinner there a couple of times till I got it right. So don't know if it will rub off the painted on weathering or not. The other area was the deck areas of the ship, but when I saw that BPX-01's were detailed, I knew I had to go the rest of the way, lol. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I did this and it turned out OK for me, but I don't think I'd do it again. I'm probably gonna pick up another one later to keep mint and unmodified. As for the Andromeda, I'm not sure if I'm going to panel line it or not, I'll see when I get it. I don't see any area's that would be too hard to get to, unlike Yamato but I have a feeling that Andromeda will sell out fast and be much harder to get later on so I may not do anything to it for that reason. *Edit* Got the wings done: -Kyp
  21. OK, I couldn't resist any longer...the one thing that I liked about BPX-01 was the fact that the panel lines were marked in so I took my trusty Black Gundam Marker and went to work: Now it's finally finished, and doesn't look too shabby if I do say so myself! -Kyp
  22. That 1/500 kit is based on the limited edition 1/700 kit that came with the DVD box set, I think I'll get this too, lol. -Kyp
  23. Someone posted comparison pics of the BPX-01 and the GX-57: No contest...in my opinion, the GX-57 has a far better sculpt than the BPX-01. -Kyp
  24. *Bows* Thank you, I'll do my best. @ Dobber: You're not the only one who finds the Andromeda's weapons design a little lacking in the AA gun department. I've often wondered just how much thought was really given to it's design combat wise. While it's true that it has 4 main guns to Yamato's 3, Yamato also has 2 secondary main guns which puts it even with Andromeda. There's no missile/torpedo doors on Andromeda either...I wish there was a blueprint of it somewhere were all it's weapons were labeled or listed. *Edit* Space Battleship (SBB) Class: Argo/Yamoto Race: Earth Launched: 2199 Length: 265.8 M Beam: 34.6 Height 77 M Mass: 62.000 tons Crew: 114 (Officers) 21 (Enlisted) 93 Special Armaments: 1 focused energizing beam wave motion cannons (type 18) 1 magnetic wave projector Main Battery: 3 x3 barreled heavy shock cannon turrets (dorsal),45 CM 2 x3 barreled light dual purpose shock cannon turrets, 15 CM Bridge: 28 x2 barreled ABC pulse laser turrets 6 x3 barreled ABC pulse laser turrets 6 x4 barreled ABC pulse laser turrets 8 light missle launchers: In stack 6 bow torpedo launchers 6 aft torpedo launchers 16 light missle launchers: 8 port, 8 starboard Power plant: 1 Wave motion engine type: A Battlecraft: 80 55 battlecraft, 25 support craft 3 Black Tiger fighter squadrons 54 or 2 fighter squadrons 36, 1 attack bomber squadrons 18 Astro Commando APCs 25 one Cosmo Zero fighter,Kingfisher JRBs, MedVac Hovers,Astro Commando APCs, Astro Rescuers, Seamless recon craft,Astro rover vehicles,Astro Asender Shuttles The Argo/Yamoto was the first Earth Space Battleship design to utilize the wave motion source of power. It incorporates tremendous wave motion powered shock cannons and is the first earth vessel to use the focused energizing beam wave motion cannon this class also carried a large number of missle launchers and anti-battlecraft rapid fire laser turrets. An innovative feature on the Argo/Yamoto was the incorporation of four hanger decks, which allowed for a large compliment of battlecraft and support craft. These craft have retractable components for more efficent storage. The ship was also adapted for underwater propulsion and has expandable side wings for atmospheric flight capibliity. The increased beam allows for a larger hangar deck which accommodates an increased battlecraft component that is dedicated to anti ship missions. The higher mass of this class reflects the addition of heavier armor protection, and an increased wave motion engine capability. The ANDROMEDA 1 was destroyed in action against the White Comet City State, Gatlantis, on October 6, 2201 It had only been in commission for one month.
