  1. I had seen different images of these posted over on Samurai Monkey. I emailed Platz about the status of their 1/72 Mave kit that has been discontinued and they said it would be re-released around December. Do any of the art books contain 3 view drawings of the Mave? Steve
  2. Does this version of the DVD have an English dub or just subtitles?
  3. There is only ~30 seconds of extra footage for completing the game on legendary. I would have thought that there would have been something more.
  4. I've been trying to get the artbook that comes with the DVD with no luck. I would get the one from Amazon Japan, but it ends up costing about double what I see on Yahoo Japan. I also have the 1/72 Hobbyfan recast of the Mave and Supersylph. I might buy the Platz version of the Mave when they re-release it in the next few months. Anyone still looking for the Boomerang cap here you go: http://www.hlj.com/product/CSP12626 There is a shirt as well with the Boomerang logo. It would be nice if Bandai would release a 1/72 plastic kit. There are a few things that Platz got wrong with their resin version that Bandai got right on their 1/100 plastic kit.
  5. What about the HD-DVD version? Hopefully it isn't another combo disc! Ugh. I will be getting the HD-DVD version.
  6. Not to mention the fact that you are essentially vacuuming your carpet with your xbox! All of those loose carpet fibers go straight into the xbox and lodge onto the cooling fins effectively blocking cooling air. If you have your 360 on the carpet then you are just asking for the RROD.
  7. I didn't know that Rettpu made a fighter only 1/72 VF-11. Was Valkyrie's recast the Club-M kit or the Rettpu? I'm also hoping that someone does another recast of the fighter only version.
  8. Glad I asked. I'm waiting for a fighter only VF-11. Any plans on the horizon in that direction I'll be first on the list. Steve
  9. Does "Full Action" mean fully transformable? Has anyone built up this kit? How does it look in fighter mode? http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b76852587 Thanks, Steve
  10. Vermillion, If you go to Samurai-monkey, they have a link to dozens of Yahoo.jp searches. Yukikaze is one of them. The link will bring up all the Yahoo.jp auctions for Yukikaze. Also you can cut and paste the link from an individual auction into the Google translator and get a rough idea of what the auction is saying. Steve
  11. What does the cover of the art book look like that comes with the DVD? I'm looking at this auction. http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k48620473 Steve
  12. Is it just going to fly straight up and then parachute back down? I'm just not seeing a pitch control anywhere.
  13. Got mine in the mail today! Hubba, hubba. Very nice. Valk009, Could you post a couple of the pics off of the instruction CD? Specifically the one holding a completed engine pod showing the rear. The pics on the PDF are a little small and aliased that makes the details hard to see. Whatever your next fighter project is I'm in as this is outstanding work on the VF-4.
  14. How difficult is it to buy stuff from Amazon Japan? I want to get the art book that comes with the dvd.
  15. Can we get these back or are they gone forever? Thanks, Steve
  16. I bow to your ultimate wisdom. I guess they YF-19 and YF-22 probably couldn't match the small nimble VF-1 either since they are unquestionably larger, and hence more ungainly.
  17. Fixed the book/dvd link in my above post. There is a Platz 1/72 FRX-00/Mave on YJ right now. http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d76412050 One other thing on the official FAF page it lists an HD version being released January 2008 on Blu-Ray.
  18. The art book that Valkyrie posted back on page 16 is up for auction on Yahoo Japan. http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f61411125 Bidding starts at an insane 25,000 yen! Ouch. No bidders yet though. I finally got around to watching the 5 episodes. Yeah there was some serious gay tention going on between Jack and Rei. Now that I think about it there was more of a love triangle between Jack to Rei and Rei to his plane. It would have been complete if the plane and Jack had a fling. Still if you can get past that the planes were about as close to digital pron as anything I've ever seen! That tail slide off the carrier in episode 5 was pretty cool. Is this the DVD that is supposed to include the other art book? Click here! Oops link fixed
  19. I've been playing Bioshock off and on for a while now, but mostly off for whatever reason. I'm to the point in the Farmers Market where you collect some stuff. About how much more game is left?
  20. Warpaint, First get your facts straight. They tried solid core nuclear engines in the 1960's and guess what it didn't work. Guess why. See if you can figure out how big they are and how much fuel is required. You see there is no such thing as weightless fuel. For the record plutonium, uranium, etc. is heavier than lead. Plutonium and uranium are both over 19grams/cc and lead is only a little more than 11grams/cc. So much for light weight fuel. I believe Jet-A is something like 7 or 8 pounds per gallon. Want to take a stab at how much a gallon of plutonium weighs? Just a rough guess, but it's almost 160 pounds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_thermal_rocket This sentence sticks out: hmmm...looks like they wont work so well in a small plane. Not to mention you only get a burn time of between 800 to 2000 seconds depending on which type you use. They make ok, but potentially messy rocket engines, but really crappy aircraft engines. Also why is it that the most advanced fighter in the world F-22 is less than 2 feet smaller than the ancient F-15 that it replaces? And the F-22 has a larger wingspan. Also the YF-23 would have been almost 4 feet longer than the F-15. Micronisation may hold true for electronics, but jets it doesn't. Also your argument completely falls through when the YF-19 and YF-21 are both again larger than the VF-1. Steve
  21. Single engine jet designs don't really apply. You don't seriously think that an A-4 is a better fighter than either an F-14 or F-15? All that horse sh!t that comes out of Hollywood. It isn't about small nimble fighters it's about POWER. It takes power and the necessary fuel to go fast. F-16 and F-18 can just scratch at Mach 2. If I recall correctly VF-0, VF-1, YF-19, YF-21, VF-4 all are twin engine designs. Have you noticed how the next generation F-22 Raptor positively dwarfs an F-16? Have you noticed how the Super Hornet is much larger than the F-18A? Or the Su-27 and the Mig-29? Fighters aren't getting smaller despite advances in technology. I would prefer to fly an aircraft with enough electronics so I never have to even see my enemy. I fire a Phoenix missile from 100 miles out and forget about it. Let the other guy worry about a Mach 4 missile that can pull 15+ Gs. Smaller fighters don't equal better fighters. Just ask all the Mig-17 pilots that fell to Phantoms in Vietnam. Talk about the ultimate size mismatch. With more advanced weapons systems the fight is less about guns and more about missiles. This isn't to say that guns are obsolete, but they are going that way. The VF-1 is an anomaly because the VF-0 was invented after the VF-1. Had Macross Zero actually come out before Macross I'm sure things would be different. Oops forgot this: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?s=&a...st&p=147424
  22. But with aircraft the iPod analogy doesn't really hold up. Look at WWI fighters compared to WWII, then WWII to Korean War era jets, then Korean War to Vietnam, to 1970's (F-14 and F-15). See the planes get bigger as performance goes up. You need a larger airframe with more power, not a smaller one. Look at the YF-23 (the real one) that thing is freakin HUGE! I think it's just a continuity error that is just glossed over between the VF-0 and VF-1 series. It would make more sense if the VF-1 was at least the same size as the VF-0 or if the the VF-0 was the smaller of the two.
  23. Is it just me or does the VF-1A/J/S seem small compared to the VF-0 and YF-19? I know that the design of the VF-1 is much older than the other two, but when you put all three 72nd scale kits along side each other (one of these things doesn't belong here) comes to mind. The VF-1 looks like it's 1/90 scale or something. Not to mention it looks downright low tech compared to the others as well. I guess that's the problem with prequals. I'd be happy if Hasegawa just upscaled all of their Macross kits to 1/48.
  24. Assuming they actually try and stick to the Robotech story how much story is going to have to be edited out for the movie? What plot elements are essential? I seriously doubt it’s going to be 2 hours of Valkyries blowing sh!t up. Although I wouldn’t complain about that at all. I would like to see it given the LOTR treatment and have a couple of movies as it would be better for the story. Done right I think 3 movies could be a huge cash cow, but done wrong a money sucking black hole. I haven’t read the entire thread, but has anyone thought of Tobey as playing Max? That Kevin Smith comment might not be so bad if he were to write the screenplay. I know he wrote one for Superman, but it wasn’t used. At least he is a comic book fan.
  25. No biggie on the thruster pods. I haven't seen the line art (heck I haven't even seen the VF-4 in action) I wonder what those little spots are for. It really doesn't make sense for them to be thrusters anyway as there aren't any others anywhere else besides the engines.
