  1. after my last project's mishap.. it's back to square one.. PROJECT 4: SDF-1 "TV VERSION" more pics at my old sdf build thread..
  2. Hey guys, i'm back... well.. after about two day's i've managed to pacify myself.. it's the first time afterall that something like this happened.. but yeah, i'm just focusing on the good side of the situation.. (i kept telling myself that the first one didn't turned out as accurate as i wanted it to be anyway) i've managed to channel my depression over my work's mishap so far with working on a better plan and doing more research.. i've decided to do the TV Version instead.. MechTech: thanks a lot for the tip and sympathy.. will try to look for it, hopefully i can find it here locally. Since i'll be doing the TV Version, of which compared to the DYRL version have better streamline design but most of the part are curvy, so i will discard the hardtype cardboard this time as one of my main materials.. i've experimented bending cladding blocks by heating a portion of it where i do the curves and so far it turned out pretty good! anyway... here's my UPDATE.. i dropped the "CARD BOARD" as my main material for this build, i thought of using styrene sheets, but with its scarcity in my location, i researched for some other materials closely the same to it.. no luck either with mechtech's suggested material.. went to a couple of hardware shops, 'til a particular material caught my attention - a rubberized vinyl plastic tile.. tried to buy one and test it for curving and it turned out pretty good! i started working on the bridge area.. i wanted to make it as accurate as possible this time, so i just took my time doing all the minute detailing.. i think one thing i learned from my last build too is not to rush things.. here's how it looks like with lights installed: i'll also do some articulation on the bridge's left part since i noticed from other pictures it appears to be connected to the main control area (in attack mode), while at some pictures it appears to be separated.. (cruiser mode) the bridge's about 80% done.. still have to the following: - detailed bridge internals - detailing for bridge's back portion - more sanding on curve areas hopefully i could continue on working this by next weekend.. thanks for looking guys
  3. i'd been through that situation.. and really, i suggest you get one first.. it'll give you a clearer perspective if those new little valks are good enough for you to dispose your 1/48s. It was just recently when i finally decided to plunge into the v2 1/60s, though i still like the 1/48 VF-1 over it.. but the completist in me compels me to collect the new VF-1s.. i'm trying to limit myself with buying exclusively SDF TV versions, since i have better chances of completing them than the 1/48s without having to buy those conversion parts and have it commissioned or the limited releases.. people who got to see my collection.. think the 1/48 still looks kick ass and expensive, while the new 1/60s really looks more like a toy! ( that's they're opinion.. and i trust feedbacks from people with no inclination to macross as they're more likely unbiased)
  4. just woke up... gawd eugimon.. are those the conversion parts made by one of the members here? or were able to sneak in to yamato's place and managed to steal their prototype?
  5. thanks eugimon.. last one before i doze off.. just squeezing my goody old digital camera to its limit: would have taken out those FPs if only i had more time for it..
  6. nothing really fancy.. just glad it didn't rained earlier.. wish i could afford to buy myself a DSLR camera too..
  7. it's all about making compromises... there are things we called "constraints" even in the realms of toy collecting, there are few constraints one must consider.. to name two of it - Space and Money. moreover, some hobbyist find satisfaction not really on keeping them, but "THE HUNT" itself.. the satisfaction and overwhelming feeling of getting hold of something you've been wanting to get..
  8. really innovative idea you got there Kirik... have you tried using "wood glue" instead for combining the detolf boards? i'm not sure though if how well it will hold, it'll look more cleaner without those visible bolts and nuts on the surface.. or you can also place those connectors on portions that aren't that much visible.. like on the board's bottom part facing the floor (for the base base part) and have those bolts connected at the back of the detolf's board for the upper board assembly where it won't be that much visible.. anyway, i'm not sure if you're getting my drift.. (excuse my poor engrish) anyway, just fill it up with all your stuff.. and adding overhead lightings would definitely complete your setup..
  9. Well i don't intend to build it out of pure metal or any heavy materials, so if worst comes to worst.. i'll probably end up with a couple of bruises, but not enough to end my life seriously though, the mounting of it will also be planned.. of course my paramount concern by then it its security rather than mine KiriK: very innovative.. i like what you did with your detolfs. The custom cabinet cost me only about $300 as materials here are a bit cheaper.. i personally designed and helped on installing it so as to minimize my expenses. I would have opted to use those detolfs cabinets, as they are prebuild and i seriously think any collectible would look good on it, but you see local stores here are selling it for 150% markup! (roughly 180 each, imagine that!?) good to know another fighter mode fan... i seriously think it's the best way to display these valks
  10. i definitely would want one! i'm a gundam fan too, although not as much as macross.. so i don't mind
  11. i would also like to join!! anyways... VF-11B FTW!! (it's a no-brainer actually)
  12. vegas.. you own this thread! just keep posting.. i'm sure others won't mind..
  13. macrossman: here's the cab plan.. The Cabinet's dust-free by th way kicker: hahaha.. indeed, if that happens your setup's gonna be the bomb.. pagdali na bai, ayaw pag tapol-tapol diha! hahaha geepogi and VF-18S Hornet: SDF will be hanged at my room's ceiling with some revoltech battroids and regulds.. (it'll be the last sight before dozing off and the first one when waking up)
  14. hey guys thank you so much for appreciating.. it was an overwhelming experience.. from planning the display (which made me decide to do those first two scratch builds) to choosing which to display (I had a hard time deciding whether to stick to scale and display my version 2 VF-1(s) or be more of an aesthetic display setup and display 1/48s.. trust me for people/non-mac fans who doesn't know much on scaling for these mechs, the 1/48 valkyries are better when displayed with the other mac series valks.. they give your display an overall balance).. and setting it up.. which by the way took me two straight days (from unloading those from the boxes, mounting the amored factory, doing the acrylic labels and putting them inside the cabinet) Cabinet is also custom made by the way.. my place is always open to fellow fans.. as much as possible im trying to get people here to plunge into the macross line.. as not much of hobbyists here are willing to, given the fact that these don't come in cheap prices.. i have another cabinet that i'm currently renovating right now (which i will house my V2 VF-1s and MacF valks.. and an ongoing project (4ft SDF TV) in line with my plan of converting my room into a large scale space battle scene diorama.. will definitely share it again when everything's set up
  15. FOURTH LEVEL - My Scratch-build Macross Armored Factory and Maintenance Bay TOP LEVEL - Macross PLUS (New Edwards Base lolz) - sorry for the crappy pics..
  16. Hey Guys.. just wanna share my New Display Theme for this year.. Last year, i basically showcased figures that i like from each line. Actually other than macross and anime figures, i've been collecting other lines from Joes, to TF mechas.. to western toys etc.. This year, i've been contemplating at doing an "All Macross Display Theme" since obviously it's been the sole line that i got constantaly hook up and so far have been loving this line. I've managed to unload all previously displayed toys around January this year, but never really got the chance to start setting up since i got hooked up with other stuff, work and the death of a dear friend.. anyways.. 'nuf talk.. here's my Macross Display Theme: (didn't want an all cramp up display so i just choose to display basically the camo valkyries and 2 non-camo scheme that i like) AS MUCH AS I LIKE THE V2 1/60 VF-1.. but i still prefer to put my goody old 1/48 on the pedestal! LOWEST LEVEL - Macross Do You Remember Love with my first ever scratch-build DYRL ARMD Launch Arm and Base SECOND LEVEL - Macross Super Dimension Fortress THIRD LEVEL - Macross ZERO wanted an Exhibit like theme for this line.. so made a custom made acrylic labels for each valkyries:
  17. zoomed in the pic with milia pilot visible.. it appears it doesn't have boobies!! i hope i'm mistaken..
  18. another great diorama!! kudos !
  19. hey guys.. i appreciate all the comments.. hate to break it but to my dismay, what i've worked so far ended up in the garbage bin.. got so furious about it.. i guess i'm really better off working in my own workplace... i intend to go back to square one as soon as i get back to my house this weekend.. i've manage to get more detailed reference and cg rendering on the TV version SDF.. so i'm thinking i might do the TV Version instead. will update you guys by weekend..
  20. thanks mate.. yeah, it (destroid) actually looks better than i've expected..
  21. naah.. mechTech's definitely on an entirely different level.. and i've stressed it in my first project that i partly mustered the guts to do scratch-builds after skimming through his thread.. he's somehow been helping me.. rouge: great work.. i wouldn't even know it's a 1/144 valk if you hadn't mentioned it..
  22. Alain: indeed! (mulang bai!) Kicker: had my own lame and humble rendition of New Edwards base too.. i might be able to share some pics of it by weekend
  23. being in a "3rd world country"... situation like this isn't really something new for us.. it's already a lifestyle but most of us here have really good disposition in life despite all constrains especially on the financial aspect.. it doesn't hurt to play, be happy and collect whatever catches my fancy.. i'm a happy fool
  24. glad you like it bro.. so where are the pictures? i need to take pictures of my new cabinet theme/setup by weekend...
