We are neck and neck on the 21. im going to start base paint tomorrow. I found the best example/guide to paint this monster is WMchengs build up.

    Sean

Man, I so wanted to try that paint scheme out. I'm a little intimidated by it though. That is the best looking Macross Model I've ever seen! I've saved every picture to my harddrive of that thing. I'm still contimplating painting the recast that way.

Beetween Eat, sleep, Work, and the occasional trip to the gym, I'm having a hard time find any time to work on the 21. I'll hopefully have updated pics this weekend. I think I'm going to start painting tommorow.

  2. They show up with them on Ebay from time to time...I have not heard great things about them.

I saw these on Ebay a couple of weeks ago. They were in an Ebay store.

I'm Thinking about trying them out that full armor vf-11 looks sweet.

  3. I like the model in the pic. Is that yours? i need to know whats under that red cover part so i can put at least something shaped correctly under the clear red piece.

Na, I found that on google.

I did a search and could not find any line art. Ther'e may be something in macross design works but I'm not sure of it.

  4. While your scratch building those gunpods, Can you scratch build some fast packs to go alon with them? :D

The biggest issues for me on the 21 were the wedge shaped piece, the wings mating up to the fuselage, and the canopy I think Has taken the most time.

  5. i listed some things in my thread that you could use. I started work on my 21 as well and all i can say is the thing is a BRICK!!! It weighs a ton and gap filling superglue with bondo are definitely needed.

In your opinion, do you think the 19 was easier or tougher to build?

  6. For what it's worth Anaszi (Devin) did a killer decal set for the 1/48's he produced everything in 1/48 scale and made it combination of what was in the 1/72 19 and 21 decals plus added in extra decals and made an advanced Valkyrie 19 sheet.

Yeah. I PMd devin a couple of weeks ago. I haven't heard anything back from him. I don't think he's been around to much lately. I'm just weighing my options for the time being. I would love to get devin's decal I've had them before for some 1/60s.

  7. No new pics for today. I am trying to arrange to have the Hasegawa decal sheet reproduced in 1/48 scale if possible. I like all the stencils it came with, they help add to the overall appearance of it being a fighter aircraft. ill be working on the sensors in the meantime but after a 12 hour shift at work i cant really find the energy to work on them tonight. Hopefully tomorrow. :)B))

Let me know if your succesful with the decals. I would be interested in some too.

    thanks.

  8. The Canopy is proving to be a real pain in the butt. I've putty up this gap several times. During the sanding process I seem to keep pushing the putty through. Thus, leaving this gaping hole. Any Suggestions?

  9. I've sprayed Tamiya primer(spray can) on the craft. I normally don't use primer. Ecspecially, spray cans. However, I had a lot of blemishes I wanted to hide from the sanding process. It seems to have worked out okay so far.

  10. I've done a little bit more work. I decided to take the time to build the landing gear up. It still not the way I want it but it's coming along.

Heres a pick of the front gear doors close. I think after a paint job and a good wash these will look ok.

  11. Wow! your really coming along. I'm going to have to make some time to work on the 21.

Before you said you were going to build the landing gear down. Have you thought about building them up? How hard would it be on the 19?

What kind of putty are you using to fill in the gaps? I was using Tamiya now I'm using something called white putty. There both not very sandpaper friendly.

  12. Is it best to use gloss clearcoat or flat clearcoat on this model ?

Try using future floor polish. the stuff is brilliant. the only problem with using it is that it is too glossy. You have to use a dull coat to tone it down.

    I usually go like this

    paint

decals/solvent(I use microsol: apply decals then brush the solution on) Go Light!

    future

wash. that way the wash runs over the decals.

    future to seal

  13. Scand.

since your doing the build up on the 21 let me have the privalage of doing the buildup on the 19. i have a technique i want to showcase on making the sensors on the nose clear red.

I'm looking forward to seeing that.
