  1. Well, I don't read the novels, sorry. So Pappy had a master? What happend to Pappy's master? Who trained Pappy's master?

Who made the Jedi? Who made the Sith?

    (dodges fruit)

The Sith were once a group of corrupt Jedi that were kicked out of the Order some millenia ago...

....they found a little out of the way planet (Korriban?) populated by a people, called the Sith...

I seem to recall that these creatures either taught them dark magics and/or made good slaves..

....either way, the Jedi interbred with the Sith until the two were indistinguishable and the former people went extinct.

Now, the Sith are more of an ideology instead of a true people.

Edit: The Jedi.. NO clue.. From what I recall from some of the EU, they're supposed to be older than the Republic itself.

  2. Here's another ANH moment that's been bugging me for all these years:

During the trench run, before Red Leader bought the moisture farm he tells Luke, Wedge and Biggs to begin their run as well as informing them one of his engines is hit (although he seems to be flying just fine at the time). Moments later we actually see the engine get hit and Red Leader takes his final closeup of the Death Star surface, becoming the X-Wing equivalent of impacted Bantha poodoo. It makes me feel as if the sequence of events went 'B-A-C' instead of 'A-B-C'.

What bugs me is: Was that one engine hit twice? Were two engines hit, with only one being shown to us getting hit? Am I imagining all this nonsense?

I've always assumed he'd lost two by that point.

I mean, an X-wing SHOULD be able to survive on three engines (and honestly, two, especially in a vacuum, but it's Star Wars, so forget physics... ;) )

But ya... losing 50% of your thrust and being in the Death Star's gravity well... I guess that'd do it.

  3. Hey, that does look like Jerjerrod from Jedi. . . but that didn't actually happen in the final cut.  What's that from?

    H

It's one of the many cut scenes from Jedi. Basically, Vader goes to see the Emeror but Jerjerrod says "Nuh-uh." so Vader chokes him. Then when Jerjerrod manages to gasp that it was the Emperor's wish that he remain undisturbed, Vader releases him. It would have been a neat scene, but it was ultimately a little pointless. But long story short, there was a scene were Vader reached out and touched somebody, but it was cut. Otherwise, who would he have choked? Piett?

Piett - "Its an older code, but it checks out. I was about to clear them. Shall I hold them?"

Vader - "No, leave them to me."

    CHOKES PIETT

Or that nameless officer who brings Luke to Vader?

Commander - "He was armed only with this."

Vader - "Good work commander. Leave us. Conduct your search and bring his companions to me."

    CHOKES COMMANDER

You know, if Lucas REALLY wanted to make a "special edition" of the movie, why didn't he include these scenes?

I'd have loved to see Vader getting his Force on...

  4. THIS website has several tracks from the OST. I'm just listenin to track one now, and by god when "the force" theme creeps into the melee I got goosebumps. John Williams is a genius.

Gah!!!! I'm loving it so far!

Wow. I've grabbed all but four tracks from the soundscore, and so far, this has to be the best work I've heard on Williams' part.

I've been using the guide posted earlier on this thread to grab tracks. So far, it hasn't let me down.

  5. Yesterday, I bought the illustrated storybook and noticed that Jar-Jar Binks is nowhere to be found. Is he absolutely nowhere in the movie at all? If so, that's the best news I've heard about Episode III.

I just finished the novel, and saw no sign of Binks.

Go back and read again where Bail joins Padme when Palpatine is about to declare the empire. It notes that Jar Jar is there on the platform with Padme, looking worried. I'm prety sure this is the only place he appears in the novel and the movie. Almost a cameo, and no spoken lines I'm aware of.

I'll be damned, totally missed that.

Well, I guess totally exluding him with have led to questions. It's probably for the better he got a SMALL part.

...though, if he had been murdered by clones...

  6. If I remember correctly, the original Orbit store in San Gabriel before it opened the walnut branch had a YF-19 for the same price (or maybe these are the same toys I had been seeing at the store before I left for university  ).

The YF-21 used to be up there too, although I think it was a slight bit cheaper. I think it used to cost something like $699.99.

It's a shame. Some of the guys that worked at the San Gabriel store, before I stopped going there, were really nice. Some of them were kind of dumb, but at least they never tried to bullshit me and rip me off. It's sad when things change for the worse... :(

If they're still open and didn't get butt-raped by Bandai for selling bootlegs at AX, Kawaii Anime on Colorado Blvd, across from Pasadena City College, still had a VF-19A Excalibur for something like $399.99 I think.

We had a toy store around here that overpriced Yammies, as well.

Hell, they paid 80 bucks for my TOYNAMI VF-1J way back when.... put it on the shelf for 120..

    AHhaha... suckers

  7. I picked up the Green Alpha last night, and it's a hella good-looking toy.

I don't enjoy the terror I feel when transforming it, unsure if any piece is going to snap off, but it sure looks good on the shelf.

Watch then gun hand. The damn thing is fragile as hell.

Yup, the fingers broke on me when I was trying to attach the gun

on my blue alpha. Waiting for my replacement hands to come in,

but now when I try to attach the guns on my other alphas I just

connect it to the palm without wrapping the fingers around the

    gun handle.

The first greenie I picked up lost part of his lower hand (below pinky.) My second one's holding up, but I'm REALLY careful when affixing the GU-XX....

Still, the first one still HELD the gun, and the fingers just looked slighly crooked. It's a pity. The hands have GOOD articulation and are very attractive. I just don't know why Toynami didn't choose a more malleable plastic like what's normally used in a polycap or something REALLY stress resistent, like Yamato's 1/48 hands.

  8. fine... don't pm me so I have to alert the world to the fact that things are crawling around my attic. NO problem.... in one of those acts of got typicaly blessed moments I tripped over a humane trap while cleaning the fl pool. Hey... free trap  . SO don't worry about me sending you into the attic where the evil gnomes live. But yeah... I'll score one as soon as you tell me to and just make you trade/work for it later. Gotta put up a fence in town this weekend and we both know swinging a hammer is good exercise. You want the blue one... not the shadow? I figure I should get one myself so I'll try and score some shippiong savings.

Actually, I'll take a red or shadow. I think I scored a blue for a good price. Call me this weekend. I'll actually have freetime.

  9. blaming somebody else for your panel lining mistakes LOL.

Actually I only got to see your 1/48 and the panel lining on it looked sweet.

if you don't get any takers over the next week or so let me know and I'll pick one up for you. I won't even take any of your yammies... you just have to help me install irrigation, dig some trenches, and possibly corner whatever critter moved up in my attic

seriously though... if you want one I'll help out and just make you work off the debt. pm me

    The trenches... okay.... irrigation....

But, WHAT the hell did you trap in your attic?

And, I DID do my 1/48 after seein' the 1/60s... lol. I lined the max 1/60, but sold that to some engineering student I know about four months ago. :p

  10. I'm lookin for a blue alpha MPC. I'm willing to foot some cash or trade.

I don't care about box condition or if the stickers have been applied, just that it's intact and in good condition.

I have the following I can trade:

    Non-FP YF-21

    GI Wheeljack

    1/60's:

Hikaru 1J, Hikaru 1A, Strike 1S (tip of gunpod hilt broke off)

I purchased all of these panel lined. The job's pretty good, and I'll post some

    pictures if anyone wants them.

  11. I went down to Clearwater last weekend, to visit friends, so I decided to pack up a TON of anime DVDs I didn't care about anymore and trade them back into AnimeNation for an MPC... (just couldn't justify buying one with all the issues people are having)

Well, the first one I grabbed had some paint issues and the canopy has stress lines in it. I took it back, and got a near perfect example.

Based on THIS piece, I love it, though I'll be making any further MPC purchases in person and at the store. I must say, it's a REAL pity Toynami skimped so much on the construction of this toy... I really like the sculpt, considering its size.
