  1. I was just wondering why the original Macross TV series could not be turned into a series of OVA movies like how the original Gundam series was turned into three good movies? Also, has anybody read that the Macross Zero ova was going to be turned into a 2 hour movie like the action packed Macross plus movie?

Maybe, I have just been watching too many fan edited movies on www.fanedit.org?

    Well they made DYRL. B))

  2. Again, Daikatana is the prime example. That game had way too much stupid s**t going during development, including ridiculous, expensive luxuries for the team. End result was the greatest laughing stock in FPS history to be released. And it still is, IMO.

Well, at least Daikata is remembered. Not in the way Romero meant though

  3. I was highly impressed, and I wonder how it is possible to do all that work with models, animation etc. Sure I agree with a bit unimpressive mecha designs (they did the job though), camp and so on, but it's simply amazing piece of work and shouldn't be taken too seriously, except for the superb production quality.

Thank god I never saw Pearl Harbor.

  4. Interesting thing is that The children of Hurin is inspired by the story of Kullervo from Kalevala, the Finnish national epic.

The tale has echoes of the Finnish Kalevala story, with which Tolkien was very familiar.[3] In Tolkien's work, however, The Children of Húrin forms part of a set, along with the tales of Beren and of Túrin's cousin Tuor. Tuor and Túrin have separate fates that oddly complement each other. It seems likely that Tolkien meant something significant when he had Tuor see Túrin during their joint wanderings.[4] Morgoth directs much of his malice against Túrin and seems to overlook Tuor, the indirect cause of his eventual fall.

The relationship between the siblings Túrin and Nienor has a few elements similar to that of Siegmund and Sieglinde in the story of Die Walküre. This relationship is closely related to the Kullervo story of the Kalevala, as Kullervo rapes his sister unawares and later commits suicide.

The most famous example of the Kalevala's influence upon another author is most likely with J.R.R. Tolkien. He claimed the Kalevala as one of his sources for the writings which became the Silmarillion. For example, the story of Kullervo has been extensively used in the Silmarillion (including the sword that speaks when the anti-hero uses it for a suicide) as the basis of Túrin Turambar in Narn i Chîn Húrin. Echoes of the Kalevala's characters, Väinämöinen in particular, can also be found in the wizards of The Lord of the Rings.

Tolkien also based some Elven language(s?) on Finnish language.

  5. And no, I have NO idea why they used the pool photo.

Slightly off topic as it's a PC game, but I'm playing STALKER at the moment and loving it. I don't think I'll ever be able to pat a dog again.

Yeah that was long awaited game, as a big fan of Andreij Tarkovski's movie. Too bad my laptop's graphics card can't handle modern games, so I haven't played neither seen it... <_<

Well, old school emulator games are the best anyway! :p

  6. I voted for all modes, but basically fighter looks a bit too ordinary fighter to me. I like it, but if it wasn't variable I wouldn't be so big fan of Valkyrie. Transformation makes the whole thing totally different. ^_^
