  1. I will just freehand if I want soft edge, I think. Makes better practice for skills. Camo pattern is not that important to go exactly in a certain way.

  2. I don't mind obscene difficulties, if they feel "fair" about it.  But it's hard to get devastatingly hostile without lsoing that sense of fairness.

Yeah, you should have the feeling you made the mistake and were too slow, not like that Macross+ insanity. It made me laugh though.

It would've been a good shoot 'em up if it was designed a little bit more reasonably. My lifespan was like 1 second. But free credits help it.

Played the SNES Scrambled Valkyrie game?

I have it for emulator, I like it. IIRC I haven't played that many levels yet. Oh, I have no idea what they're trying to say with that Engrish. Propably it's just damn "cool".

I do recommend springing for something above the bottom end. You get what you pay for, and the bottom-end pads tend to be pretty poor performers.

Well "cheap" is relative. I mean more like a good compromise. If I played a lot an arcade controller would be best. No need for that. Actually, I'm getting used to keyboad controls on Dyrl. At first I played mostly M+...

  3. Yeah, Dyrl one is actually pretty good and playable, regarding the difficulty. And the theme gets points from me. The music is ok, but hearing canon soundtrack would've been really great. Cool stuff anyway. This game I should've had at home when I was a kid. Yeah, it was only an arcade machine back then. Somewhat more affordable to play these days... ;)

Keyboard is too clumsy for these games. I'll possibly get some cheap but good enough pad when all my money isn't going to model kits... May take a while...

Those arcade sticks which are supported look very cool though. But the Steel Battalion controller is enough of that stuff for me. :p I don't play nearly at all nowadays, this kind of quick to play once in a while games are the best at the moment. Heck, I didn't even finish Metroid prime 2, even if it's a great game. Those games need so much time and effort.

  4. I haven't seen this "recast" myself, but from what I've heard, it's simply a resin casting of the old Imai model... Seems like a bit of a waste, honestly.

Yeah, that's the one I remember reading about too.

I don´t think you will see a recast of Captain America´s Regult - the average recaster who wants to make a quick buck would never take the time or even be able to copy it - far too complex! :D

That's an interesting point. And most likely true, though I have no experience of mold making etc so I could fully understand, but basically I know what's it about. Yeah, there are easier & cheaper things to copy.

Oh, I was thinking when I got John's Regult, if anybody made decals for it. But I'm pretty sure nobody didn't. And actually, I think using templates will look better, except some very small decals could look good in addition. I'm not sure about the official Regult markins though. But I believe Captain's template is so canon as possible. And if you wanted, you could make custom decals using that for help. Hmm, I should sometimes try that stuff.

  5. I have Captain's ultimate Regult myself. It doesn't have decals. I will propably paint the markings.

Basically I was thinking if it could be a recast of Captain's work... I really hope not, and I don't believe it either. For example E2046 has some Regult recast, and they're HK.

  6. Actually I am kind of a fan of the genre, but I really played this kind of games as a kid last time (except a couple of emulator games I've tried few times), and wasn't so good player even then. But I still think these games have some attitude & style.

Have you played R-type final JB0? I would think that's the ultimate game in this genre, with todays technology. I haven't myself though. Just what I've seen when it came out.

IIRC they still release some "official" games of this genre, in Japan most likely. Not to mention fan based stuff of course. "New school" games have more depth at the best, but these are just so damn addicting. :D

  7. Keep the ps2...
