  1. Painting is done. Added a coat of future and started to do some drybrushing and weathering. Somebody remind me next time that I gotta put on the decals before I apply pastels. I started to on the feet before I remembered. Anasazi did a great job supplying the decals. Now I just gotta figure out where they go!

That sure is one beautiful monster!!!

You do drybrushing, pastels etc on gloss surface?

  2. As for me, I think I got better results already. It's been a while when I really painted something with airbrush. And I guess new supplies need a little practice always. One thing I can say, Tamiya paints flow very nicely, and they're very good to paint.

This time I cleaned the model with white spirit before painting, and painted a bit thicker layer, since it's so thin.

Yeah, (Tamiya) painting guide by an expert modeler would be nice.

  3. Ouch, I'm so sorry to hear that FM. :(

Yeah, I wouldn't keep any money there anyway, and it's not even possible to me I think. When I pay by paypal, it just charges my credit card and sends the money, and that's it. Well, there is the 3-4 days reservation time before it is actually charged from my bank account. But the payment goes right away to the person I pay, that is.

  4. I just airbrushed Tamiya for the first time in my life (I ordered a big set of them). WTH?!? They scratch off so damn easily! I had a mr.surfacer 1000 spray can primed surface, and I used Tamiya's own thinner. How well Tamiyas are supposed to adhere then? Yeah I can/will clear coat them, but it still should be able to take at least a little of handling... I thought you can even sand them, but no, I need only to touch the paint with sandpaper and it scratches off. No chipping, but scratching.

    This sucks. :(

  5. What was the price again? I have temptations about this kit... Must resist...resist...Or must I..? Argh!

Get it now or regret it later.

Grayson's right. That's the only reason I have a bajillion unbuilt kits. Good luck finding one later on.

Of course I know that, but I can't afford every freaking thing at the same time. :(

  6. If doing a convention in Europe, than at least in a Euro friendly place :)

Finland, the center of Macross fandom. :p

Yeah that's true, UK is very expensive AFAIK. Maybe it should be some warm cheap southern Europe country, where it would be cheap to travel and be. B))

I think Finland is pretty expensive country also btw. :(

  7. Indeed, I don't see a reason why would there be scratches if you handle models normally. Does it really add the price of a kit noticeably if it's dyed, let's say grey? I wouldn't think so. Of course I might be wrong.

  8. Colored resin is also easier to prep work I would think. White doesn't show imperfections very much. And I think MechTech meant that the possible scratches don't show up as badly as in white resin. Just guessing. I must say I'm a fan of Captain's colored castings.
