  1. Not sure where the appropriate place is to post this, but a few weeks ago I won on eBay a brand spanking new Woodland VF-1 for just $73 and with shipping being $12, it cost me just $85! I haven't boughten a 1/48 scale VF-1 since early 2004, but this was too good a deal to pass. Now I just need to find some dirt cheap Woodland GBP-1S armor for it.
  2. Can't wait to see what might might come out, at least on the merchandising end, for the 25th anniversary next year. Since Macross Zero wasn't a super big hit, it may be a while before another OVA comes out. Doubt another TV series is ever made.
  3. http://www.ggl.com/news.php?NewsId=4035 The movie's posted on a number of sites. Can't wait to see if part 2 is made!
  4. http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/04/write-a-...sony-win-a-ps3/ Intersting that Sony can't guarantee just 10 measly systems to the winners of this contest for up to 5 months. Does anyone want to bet that Sony might fall short of the 400,000 US / 1000,000 Japan promised for the launch next month? Glad I'm not getting the PS3 (at least for now). It's going to be a total circus next month. This thing is going to have a higher failure rate then the launch 360's. But if I did get one, I would definitely get the new Gundam game, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Ridge Racer 7.
  5. The 360 currently will do either 720p or 1080i. The next update for the 360 this fall (updates for the dashboard, etc.) will give the system 1080p output. I think the majority of 360 games' native format is currently 720p. In my own case, I still have my 25 inch Samsung from 1997 and I hope to eek out a few more years out if it! I have played my 360 on my brother's large wide screen TV which does support at least 720p and it definitely made the picture quality sharper.
  6. The PS2 didn't get its first price cut until around the 2002 E3 if I recall correctly. With the PS3 probably losing at least $200 a system already (some sources for a while now has been saying that the PS3 costs around $800 or more to make), the earliest I would see Sony cutting the price on the system is the spring of 2008. But it just all depends on how well it sells in the next year or so and how desparate Sony becomes to get these out to the market. Microsoft with the 360 has been estimated to be losing $125 or more on each system. Even with the impending release of the Wii and PS3, Microsoft appears to be holding off on a price cut any time soon. I would not be surprised if they make a modest $50 cut right nefore the Wi and PS3 launches (the announcement will come late next month or early November), but otherwise my guess for MS' first cut for their system will be next spring.
  7. All right, the "bounce" factor adds to it! But ever since DOA 2, I've liked the series in part because it pushes the machine it's on and shows some of what that system can do (Especially Dreamcast, Xbox, and 360.. can't comment on the PS2 DOA2 since I've never tried it), the game is easy to get into into, and as one of the guys on the last page pointed out it's got big expansive, interactive stages. Over all, its just fun.
  8. Notice the Floating Head himself is on the back of the box?
  9. Regarding the price cut for the 20GB PS3 in Japan, from my understanding Sony was doing this in order to make sure that this version of the PS3 would actually sell. Most of Japanese gamers are interested in the 60GB version.
  10. Halo Wars official site.
  11. Doom for XBLA, with 4 player splitscreen and Xbox Live playability, comes out TONIGHT! Microsoft and ID did a good job keeping that one under the radar. Unfortunately, I am 10 points short of 800 points for my account so I will have to go get some more points this evening. Rumors of a Halo RTS game are indeed true. Halo Wars is in the works. Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh along with Bungie will be working on a Halo title together. Though the main Halo story will end with number 3, the Halo franchise is far from over.
  12. Just curious where everyone is getting Volume 5 at. Best Buy has had V5 online for ordering for two weeks now, but for what ever reason not a single copy is going out to the retail stores.
  13. The F-14 of course was the end result of the failed F-111B program, but this is the very first time that I have heard that it was the F-111 and NOT the F-14 which influenced Kawamori in designing the VF-1.
  14. http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3153750&did=1 Nintendo 64 turns 10 years old. Japanese gamers got their hands on it first during the summer of 1996 while those us here in the United States got our hands on it in late Septemeber. For me, it was the first Nintendo console I bought at launch. Though I got rid of my system and remaining games last September, some of my most memorable gaming moments were with this system. Games like Super Mario 64, Turok, Goldeneye, and Mario Kart 64 made for some great single player and multiplayer experiences. Though the system was hindered by the limits of its cartridge format, costs of said 64bit cartridges, and a dwindling third party support, there is no denying that there was a lot of good things going for it. Besides some real great games, some of which defined the future of console gaming (such as Super Mario 64, The Ocarina of Time, and Goldeneye), it was the N64 which made standard the ability to handle 4 or more controllers off the bat (*cough*cough* PS2), the use of 1 or more analog controllers for 3D gaming, and a "rumble" feature for controllers (a big time *COUGH*COUGH*COUGH* PS3). Happy 10 year anniversary to the last major home console cartridge system, the Nintendo 64.
  15. Noticed you were playing COD2 last night. Great game for the 360. Probably 75% of my time on the 360 since I got it in November has been playing this game (especially online). But since I have played the game into the ground and got all its achievement points months ago, I've been thinking of trading it off while the game can still get a decent penny. But as soon as the game comes down to $20, I'll probably buy it again. Still making up my mind,though... DOA4 is pretty solid too though I hate getting my @$$ handed to me online!
  16. Last month marked the 20th anniversary of the very first air show I attended at Offutt AFB in August 1986. Unfortunately, Offutt's runway was torn up for a major repave job (this happened in 1994, too) this summer so it meant no air show this year. (I will be posting some of those pictures I took at the 1986 show sometime in the days ahead in a different thread). However, the Nebraska Air National Guard down at the Lincoln Municipal Airport put on a show themselves this weekend (September 23-24). If I'm correct, this was the first show put on here since the one that was held back in the spring of 2001. The timing of having one this year was good especially since Offutt was not in position to conduct one. http://www.lincolnairshow.com/index.php All together, I took about 700+ pictures with my Canon Digital Rebel. After I have a chance to download them, I'll pick a few and post them here.
  17. At the very least call or e-mail Microsfot so at least they know about your case. Otherwise the meltdown you've described is the very first time I have heard anything like that.
  18. Phantasy Star Universe? Maybe if it were 5 to 10 years ago when I was a lot more into video game RPG's. Right now the next two big 360 games on my radar would be Gears of War and Call of Duty 3. Might get Chromehounds if I trade in some stuff soon.
  19. Don't you mean speed of sound? Otherwise I knew the F-14 was fast, but I didn't know it was that fast! I ordered some stuff through the Tomcat Sunset site today... the Paypal payment went through, but I have yet to get a comfirmation and there is nothing in my account when I log in indicating that I have an order on hand, so be careful when using the site.
  20. Are you talking about the 360 or the original Xbox?
  21. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6157930.html?...estnews;title;0 More info on the 360 HD-DVD drive and more games heading XBLA - Rush'n Attack and Gyruss, sweet!
  22. It's past the 12th, has anyone gotten their hands on volume 5 yet?
  23. Keith, I have DVD's going back to 2000/2001 that I have not watched to this day so its hard to say for sure when I'll get these watched to verify if the extras are any good or not! ADV has some info on what's on the extras DVD's in some of the boxsets on their webpage: http://www.advfilms.com/CatalogFilms_Volumes.asp?ID=2060 With Gatchaman wrapping up, it would be nice if a classic like Yamato or the original Mobile Suit Gundam would get a proper release...
  24. What kind of excuse is that? I see they got some shirts and a calendar on the Sunset website so I'll probably order a few.
  25. Meant to post this before Macross World was hacked, but a month ago I made the discovery that Omaha and Lincoln area Best Buys have discounted the Vol. 3, 4, and 5 boxsets of ADV's Gatchaman release. I was originally picking up Vol. 3 at one of the Omaha BB's for what I thought was $18.99, but when the register rang up $9.99! I went beack to the DVD section and found out that Vol. 4 and 5 were also ringing up that price, too. In the next few weeks, I found other Best Buys in both the Omaha and Lincoln areas that were doing the same, some had the $9.99 price marked while others still had the $18.99 price marked. I know that Best Buy's website still has the $18.99 price listed for these three sets. After I got the three sets I was able to snag an unopened Vol. 1 on eBay for grand total around $15... so far I've spent less then $50 to build my Gatchaman DVD collection. Anyway, if you are a Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets fan and you got a Best Buy in the area, you might be in for a good deal.
