That or the anime should have made "It's Pat" route and screw over the fans, at least not aware of "third gender".

Sure its been discussed before, but I just re-discovered it and laughed.

In the footer of one of the pages in the Artmic Design book, mechanical co-designer Hideki Kakinuma explains the origin of HBT
Just take the word GAS and offset +1 letter in the alphabet LOL  :)

    poor google translate results
Therefore, I taught that HBT is the next spelling of GAS in the sense that it is next to GAS (gasoline), that is, it is a really ridiculous thing made by doing G → H, A → B, S → T. By the way, the other party is crazy!  There was an episode saying ...  It ’s Kessaku!  (Kakinuma)

Well, I thought it was acronym for something.
They did say it's Hydrogen based fuel.

MOSPEADA's creators didn't put a ton of effort into the details of the background and one-shot characters, I'm afraid... though at least their uniforms share the same design as Lt. Bernard's own.

    I noticed that as well.

    Still thanks for the info.

Nah, it's pretty much just those few pencil sketches of characters like Yellow or Jim in the duty uniform from the first recapture mission.  There's no real detail to it.

What about the uniforms of bridge crew in first episode and the finale ones?

  5. So i am thinking something.

Should I buy Robotech Visual Archive: Mospeada?
I mean mostly just for character concept art, even side characters, along with maybe background info or production notes.

Just that I kinda do sketches and commissions, and maybe headcanon on their uniforms (especially unshown like Jupiter Base or First Invasion uniform).

  6. Basically, "so Equestria reverted back to crumbling society without friendship. Because screw you, Twilight...all your deeds were for nothing."

Also didn't last time Ponies became divided, Wendigo came and started a winter?
    I guess they died too.
Also what about dragons, hippogriffs, or other non ponies they befriended?

I FINALLY took a few minutes to find the series/backups that I was referring to (the old series that was more of what I was picturing Breakers would be).

I genuinely enjoyed "Invid War", published by Eternity, and it is probably my single favorite series under the "Robotech" banner (feel free to skip the follow-up "Invid War: Aftermath"). Also, the "Class Reunion" special was solid (writing and art), but just kind of in-between episode content.

However, the series that I was thinking of was "Robotech: Unsung Heroes", which was about a completely separate team doing their own missions. It was a back-up story in issues 2-4 of Vermillion (b&w), and was reprinted as part of Megastorm (color). Just sort of a story of a separate, not previously heard-of unit, who were competent, but just not at a place (or survival rate) to have been encountered in any other stories.

I had been hoping that Breakers would be something similar, and not a fan-fic-y "these guys are super duper awesome and super duper secret ninjas".

    Unsung_heroes_graphic_novel.png.eb000113cd1a1e23ca8b8ca058f6a2ef.png

    Neat.

Kinda hard to find either Invid War or Vermillion.

    Thanks.

Mostly I'll be happy if they have finalized version of Mars Base uniform, or female in pilot suit.

I was referring to one of the series pre-Wildstorm; I think it was by Academy or Antarctic? Sorry, this last week has been too busy to dig through them to find them, but I'm happy to find what it was when I have a little free time.

Appreciated. Also I am thinking Invid War for similiar premise.

Are they working for you now?

MEP's prototype is on the left side, with my suggested fixes on the right.

    Yep it's working.

Agreed; I would say the only  time it wouldn't is if they were telling the story of how they got to that status, complete with bad mistakes, high-cost failures, monumental screw-ups, and other such things that made sure their position was earned rather than just "a kewl club" as it were. Those skills need to cost much training, pain and injury, the lethality needs to have been learned through rigorous discipline and enduring the consequences of not heeding that discipline, and the secrecy must come with a high price (loss of friends, loss of family, loss of identity, etc.)

There's a reason Master Chief in HALO is a bada$$ and his story is replete with tragedy, failure and sacrifice. If the "Breakers" are to be that kind of special, then that kind of horrible must await them, IMO.

Yeah, pretty fan-fic alright. Although if they wanted to be authentic, that tech was probably built by the lowest bidder and breaks down every other mission or two.

(not to mention the black paint was watercolor and even the first good humid or foggy day will ruin their camo. O.o

Well, mostly I am more interested in hairstyle since I tend to make fan arts or at least commission them, but like your insight.

Plus it would be great if they show us how things are on Mars since Lunk joined the fleet to feed his family along with rebellions and piracy before the event meant that it might not be rosy.

Or maybe potential cloning and artificial births--assuming if Breakers are latter--due to starting a military with low population along with developing unmanned fighters.

But as you have said, not much a good start for potential...assuming if it's just a toy lore, like descriptions on back of the package or equivalent.

Oh, the Robotech: Invasion video game?

I guess the basic premises do sound a similar in a vague sense... and that game was where Robotech first introduced its equivalent of a Dark Ride Armor, albeit as a new model rather than a converted existing model like Shinobu's in the original MOSPEADA.

    The comic by Wildstorm.

I think any time a story is set in an existing fictional universe, and the description is along the lines of "A super skilled, super lethal, super secret team...", it feels a bit fan fiction-y right off the bat.

Up until this description, I thought Breakers was going to be more of like that one Robotech comics side story (if I remember right, it was in another series that I'm blanking on right now, with like 8 pages per issue as a back-up story) where we followed a different team on Earth while in parallel to the New Gen series, except, you know, this would be MOSPEADA.

    Invid War or Robotech Invasion.

No word on that that I can find... and Tatsunoko Production's page for it has a region-lock that defeated even my main VPN.

What I was able to glean from Entertainment Archive Alpha: Genesis Climber MOSPEADA File is:

      Hide contents

Genesis Breaker is set up as a side story to Genesis Climber MOSPEADA.  Like the series, it's set in 2083 during the time between the Second and Third Descent Operations.

The description of the protagonists - the titular Genesis Breakers - is kind of fan fiction-y.  The BREAKERS are a Special Task Force that was secretly established within the Mars Central Government's Intelligence Bureau.  Their original purpose was to suppress dissent and turmoil during the unification of Mars.  Apparently violently, as it's indicated the BREAKERS were issued a License to Kill that was never rescinded.  They apparently don't get on with Mars's regular armed forces, who are noted to be wary of them and shun them.  (Their name is apparently a reference to circuit breakers?)

For my money, the most interesting tidbit is a notation on the origin of the human name for the invading aliens.  When they first invaded Earth they were referred to only as the "Invaders" or "Invader Division".  Once their true nature as a swarm intellect came to light the term "Invader Bit" was coined for them which was abbreviated to "INVIT".  (That's how it's spelled, in English, in the article.)

Anyhoo... in 2083 the BREAKERS are operating on Earth on a mission to study the Invit.  Their home base is a Mars ship named Archelon that's parked in lunar orbit and they made planetfall equipped with the latest Dark Ride Armor being prototyped for the Third Descent Operation forces.  The main character is an (estimated) 19 year old female operative named Gate, codenamed BREAKER-1, a consummate professional operative.

Not much else is said about the setting of Genesis Breaker, the article is mostly a recap of the MOSPEADA setting.

How many protagonists? And by fan fiction-y as in lack of personality and more how powerful they are even by setting standards?

    Random question.

Did anyone ever translate the Genesis Breaker section in the last MOSPEADA File artbook?  I've been skimming it to answer some questions on another site and was wondering if I'm duplicating effort or not by doing a translation.

(I'm very amused to see that we've all apparently been spelling the aliens name wrong this whole time... oh well.)

    Sounds interesting.

Like would it be toy-based lore or a series?

I mean Mospeada is basically ended with Invid retreating and not much story besides side stories.

Maybe fleshing out the universe (like life on Mars Base or female soldiers and pilots*).
*In non-skirt uniform, even 80's had female pilots Emma and Reccoa, just my thing to be honest.

    More Mospeada is always better!

Here it goes, artist being Inspector97 (he had more but this is my commissions drawn by him).

Just that Mospeda didn't have female soldiers in jumpsuit uniform.

Sue Graham in her red suit, which doesn't seem like military uniform and too civvy, albeit with more skin-tight on leg area.

I have it and it's awesome. :good: I only wish they expanded more info about the cover image inside the book. But hey, who am I to complain?

Yeah, but being out of print and hefty price on Amazon didn't help.
But still glad to hear about it.

    Also what about Genesis Breakers?
