Maybe Gate has a fiancé that dies on the way to Earth.  And then when she lands, she experiences her first ever thunderstorm. ;)

Well since it's gonna be serialized in a magazine.
Either it's gonna be a manga or toy diorama with story attached.

  2. Hopefully, we may get insignia for other colonies besides Mars and Jupiter.

I'm hung up on the limitations of the human body.  Is "Gate" supposed to be some kind of cyborg?  Human feet are completely incompatible with that design. 😒

Or just having large room for foot albeit in high heel manner.

The Mospaeda Gaiden is starting in next months issue.  T-Rex only says they can make announcements “soon.”  Possibly July too but not as concrete as the Genesis Breakers story.

Well, I think I might get some fan art commission refs when it comes out.

As a coincidence, I just asked Inspector97, who is also Mospeada tan, to draw two characters (not from any work, just fan character who would be jibronies or background extras).

If you mean the SMG game, they are releasing the Mospeada/Southern Cross version (the KS already ran for it).

Yeah, I was talking about SMG.

But it is still Robotech canon, at least reading from the preview.

So asking if anyone had thought of Homebrew Mospeada canon.

The Rock better NOT MAKE BLACK ADAM A HERO. Keep him evil!

I think he became (anti) hero at one point.
Judging by the trailer, maybe they are adapting an arc where he became leader of a middle eastern country after overthrowing a dictator....right before it blew up and he became a villain again.

  6. Part of me had some thoughts after watching Mospeada and realized that it might be one of the few anime--same with Attack on Titan (being German coded culture with Mikasa being ONLY Asian character) or Gundam (multiethnic future)--where the main characters are non-Japanese (at least not named Japanese with Shinobu being a major exception as only Japanese named character).
Though being set around Americas (again, refugees and maybe expatriates before the Inbit Invasion might change the demographics) and Mars being multi-ethnic (you know refugees forced to huddle together) might be one.

I saw a lot of posts on other forums saying it was better than expected, so I at least gave it a shot---and it's not horrible?  I'm certainly interested enough to watch a second ep, and see where it goes.

Also, David Kaye is in it, so that's an automatic coolness point.

Well, possibly due to Kevin Smith, which wouldn't be a high bar.

I am not sure if anyone thought up idea of "Skeletor was rightful ruler of Greyskull all along and He Man was a usurper while ignoring canon" *Coughs in Malekith storyline in Warhammer End Times* and applying it. I mean Bardic Podcast use this as a metaphor.

Not that it really matters, since this is RT we're talking about here, and not the original material, but I recently re-read all of the novels and don't recall any mention of that. The novels present Mars Base and Jupiter Base as not being literal bases that sent troops (which is how I always pictured it as a kid), but as the names for the missions. Therein, the final mission was named "Jupiter Base"... which makes no sense. Then again, re-reading those over a fairly short period a couple months ago, maybe I'm misremembering.

I think the concept art books for the actual MOSPEADA showed how divisions of Mars joined up with ones from Jupiter's moons, which made more sense, but again, memory is fuzzy.

I remember that. Sadly no uniform color or equipment color though.

We did see a Mara Base uniform with green jumpsuit in Wolf episode.

No new updates regarding Genesis Breakers.

Yep, maybe due to recent issues or being in developmental hell.

Kinda like Cyberpunk 2077, Watchment movie, or Duke Nukem Forever.

  10. So kinda had topics

    - Any idea on Mospeada Genesis Breakers, seems to be quiet 2 years after announcement?

    - Also maybe discussion on how Houqet got her Cyclone (taken from crashsite? Stolen? Maybe initially planned to be Jupiter Base soldier?)

Yeesh, Netflix is going all in on He-Man. There are other cool 1980s cartoons they could have rebooted. *cough* ROBOTECH *cough*

Never would fly well with originalist.
Though I do wish for Mospeada though...maybe a reboot or gaiden story (like side story of other soldiers who made it on surface or maybe some worldbuilding).
There is Genesis Breakers but no updates for four years as of now.

  12. Well, still wondering about Jupiter Base uniform even though it will be a fan art.
I mean I managed to thought up first liberation uniforms due to uniforms from old soldiers, but not much for JB other than Houqet/Rook armor (assuming if she didn't give a new paint or originally intended to be like Stig, except from Jupiter).

While jet in the anime wasn’t as dark skinned as some of the other characters I always thought of him as black and the live action version of him in the outfit and with his voice seemed perfect for me as far as casting.

Faye didn’t start out as a lesbian in the live action version, but I think the moment she started questioning herself had to to with that awkward tree scene. I mean accidentally giving a tree a happy ending probably would throw everything into confusion.

honestly the only character change that truly bugged me was vicious. I also don’t think we needed so much background.

As far as anime Americanized adaptation I actually liked the Ghost in the Shell movie and my favorite would hands down be battle angel. Maybe battle angel worked because there was so much story that never got animated that it was more of a comic adaptation

Also maybe the director has practice with Dark Angel, which kinda act like Battle Angel prototype.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Angel_(American_TV_series)

Complete with "an amnesiac female super soldier in post apocalyptic cyberpunk world".

In all honesty, I have no idea (WRT the toyline).  The article itself is absolutely about Genesis Breaker, though.  My intention was just to answer the "Whatever happened to the Genesis Breaker announcement?" question.

The only mentions of Sentinel in the aforementioned article are one in the foreword, which states that [Genesis Breaker] is a "product project" inspired by the success of Sentinel's toy line and a few in the following interview talking about modernizing the designs.  It's also referred to as a "spin-off episode" (スピンオフ的エピソード) of the same work (MOSPEADA) in the preceding sentence.

There's a lengthy interview with Hideki Kakinuma about the development of the original designs, merchandising, and a bit about refinement of the designs for Genesis Breaker using modern art techniques and technologies, but not much that I can see about the actual status of the project.  Nothing that I can see about a release date or media.  The rest of the article after that is just a two-pager about the Genesis Breakers setting and story that paints a much darker picture of the setting than the original series did.

There's definitely some story here, but all we've seen art/design-wise is the same three pics of Gate/Breaker-1's riding suit and ride armor.  Nothing explicit about toys/models or timing for same.

Yeah, I was wondering since there is not more mentions of it for a year now.

The Eternals are not aliens but their origin is based in part on the Chariots of the Gods (ancient astronaut concept) as stated by Jack Kirby. Other inspirations are Childhood's End and Jack Kirby's previous creations, the New Gods.

Yeah, no wonder why they call him the king.

I mean I am intrigued by his grandeur tone of his space opera, but I am skeptical of MCU Eternals due to late entry and "why they didn't come for Thanos".

  16. So new Mospeada fanarts (Commissioned by Me, Drawn by Inspector97) are up! First one is from Robotech Invasion but in hypothetical skirt uniform for 1st Invasion. Second is Lancer/Yellow from sketch art. Third one is hypothetical skirt variant of 3rd Invasion in Finale episodes.

    Spoiler

    Olivia Stahl in Uniform

    Lancer in Uniform

    Mospeada Third Liberation Fleet Uniform
