@Grey728 - Are the joints still holding up on Messer after putting on the Sillpheed Armour?

I was worried about that too. I haven't touched it much since I placed it on my yeti stand but I made sure most of the weight was supported and off the joints. I think only the arms could potentially get loose now. I'll need to get the support arms out of storage but have been too lazy to make a trip.

  2. Most of the pieces I've recieved so far (except the wings) have been made of diecast and feels very high quality. Tampo's are already pre-applied as well. The item is fully painted as-is so nothing needs to be added or done. Of course you can do whatever you would like to modify or improve on it as some people already have here but overall, painting is unneccarry. There is some gluing that's been required and some wiring that needed to be routed which took me some time as I don't want to screw it up. I don't have any modelling skills at all. All I've done thus far is follow the Youtube guides online that they've created. You should check them out.

I don't know if this kit is worth the 2 grand as it's my first time ever dealing with this type of thing. Most of the kits you receive practically have nothing in them while others have large single pieces of diecast parts. The color is the most off putting of the entire thing which isn't too bad. It's more of a cream/vanilla color than it is white/grey. I don't think that shows up in the videos that much.

I recommend you buy the first kit yourself from HLJ for $2.75 just to get an idea of what you're getting yourself into.

  3. The Snow White EW box is definitely bigger and heavier than a VF-0D which I paid around ~$100 to ship via DHL using FromJapan. I also ordered a Snow White from KuramaToys and haven't gotten it nor have they messaged me that they have it in their possession. I do have more PO items from them so I don't mind waiting and stocking them up in their warehouse. I just wish they'd respond to my inquiry. In fairness though I just sent that email in the past day or two and there's supposedly a big holiday in Japan going on right now. They might be out of office for a week.

It's time to update that storage game.:D

I got some of thseand only use thre shelves so I can stack boxes better. They work great because you can roll them into each other which takes up a lot less room. When you want to get at something you can just open up acess to the shelf you need. Works like a charm.

I'm doing this as well but am also using a cover to keep dust off my boxes as much as possible.

You're absolutely right that they're great and it's so easy to get to everything you may ever want to get to. I only have three so far but will likely expand to six.

  5. I think they did tease an expansion pack with Strike packs on it but it was just a black silhouette. Who knows for sure. I think we'll find out once we start building the thruster/leg sections if it's even possible.

Edit: Confirmed on page 2 of this thread. Strike pack as an option. It's on the first page of the first kit. Maybe there will be ~150 total kits?

I'm late to this whole thing and 550 pages is too many to try and find the answer, but are there any possibilities of Bandai reissuing these?  What other variants (if any) are they planning on releasing and who has preorders when they release?  BBTS?  Amazon.jp? I have a few of the old Yamato 1/48s and love them but these seem to be just a bit better.  There's no way I'm paying $500 for one, though.

I'd recommend checking the for sale section and following this thread. If your email blows up, chances are there's chatter in here regarding a new release and dates. The last pre order was for Roy Folkers VF-1S in early July. You could try proxy buying from Amazon JP or Yahoo Japan auctions at a markup. Also, keep in mind that it's very rare for most of us to buy any Macross item at MSRP.

  7. I just got my Metal Structure fin funnels and wing Snow White. I was completely wrong about the funnels and not being able to add more than two. With a little modification (using a screw driver) you can add as many as you want. I think the only limiting factors here would be weight/stress on the backpack where the fins connect. You can add two at a time.

That's what the customer reps are saying. I've never had that experience with a shipment taking more than a day in customs with FedEx. I hope they didn't misplace it.

They opened it. Played with it. And now they’re trying to figure out how to get it back in the box without it being too obvious.

  9. As someone who came from a V1 Yamato and purchased an Arcadia Milia PF edition, I expected to get blown away, but I wasn't. There was definitely less die cast and folding the tail pack up for gerwalk & battroid mode was a nightmare. I thought I was going to break it. The fast pack covers aren't held on very well and keep sliding off. The side cavity fillers keep falling out. I have to admit that I don't know if I'm doing something wrong here.

I also have two first edition 1/48 Yamato VF-1S and VF-1A. I love the size but as many have pointed out the arms and hands aren't proportioned very well and the nose cones for both easily pop off. The gun doesn't hold well in the tiny hands and mine did not come with an extra set as later versions did. I never purchased the SSPs for either.

The vanilla Bandai DX feels great in hand and is easy to transform. I don't really care about the T-Bracket coming apart to allow for joint swivel. I usually prefer the hip swivel and am glad that option is there. Whatever makes it easier to transform without me feeling like I'm going to break it. Adding the super strike packs add significant weight to the toy and like many have said, the arms don't lock in place in jet mode and can be very annoying. Definitely an oversight. The heft makes all the joints feel looser and all the extra articulation makes is that much easier to fall over without the use of a stand. My VF-1J with SSP installed prefers to do a split and attempts to do so every time I'm not looking or at the slightest touch. An aggressive leg stance without some stand support is close to out of the question.
