Less than 3 days to ship from Amazon Japan! Until I have time to transform, here's an old vs. new jet shot.
-
I've been out of valk collecting for quite some time (I've whittled down the collection to a 1/60 VF-1S Focker and a 1/48 VF-1A Low Vis). This one looks too good to pass up, and frankly I haven't had a Vermilion VF-1J since my very first Joons 1/55 Chunky back int the day.

Sub-Lieutenant?

Some old school 1/48 Low Vis love - with 2 freshly painted heads for variety:
-
Thanks glane21 for hooking me up!
Mods, please close thread.

As title states. I'd also consider a junker 1/48 with an intact head for the right price. Thanks!
-
Received my 1/48 Low Vis today. Thanks for the smooth transaction!

Thanks for the speedy delivery and great packing on the MP SS!

payment sent for MP SS (bump!)

Hmmm, the rear of the cab (the legs) seem really thick, much thicker than MP-01 or any other G1-inspired prime. They also seem to have shortened the height of the trailer quite a bit to fit over those legs. Doesn't look right from the side of the truck.
Robot mode is very nice, will be waiting for the state-side release sans trailer.

Just got my Gamlin VF-22S in 5 days flat Fedex. What a great looking design, much nicer in person!
I caved and just ordered the Max VF-22S before the sale ends.

Payment sent for MP Skywarp

kind of like CAG bird in real world fighter jet...
I wasa gonna say the same thing- interesting concept, but the gray is still way too dark.
-
They should include a bunch of blast holes in the fuselage and a pair of clipped wings with a weathered Max 1S... and how about an equally messed up Q-Rau and Milia??
-
the LERX too. but i would have preferred it plastic like on the 1/48 (visible paint chipping).
I think it needs to be metal to withstand the sliding nose action, much like the VF-0. But I agree on the paint chipping concern, plus uneven discoloration over time.

2) Yamato's new VF-1D is using a new fuselage mold.
Source?
Isn't the bottom rear edge of the canopy shaped differently than the 1-seaters?
-
That's because it's the same old recycled pics Yamato is using. With the relase date approaching (Feb 09?) and no new pics, I doubt there will be any change to the nose. Alas, we got stuck with giraffe-necked single-seater battroids for nothing...

On my 0S Ghost combo the "broken back" is barely noticeable, not at all like the first edition VF-0S where it was impossible to avoid (and my VF-0A was the tightest of all there).
Well I guess that demonstrates the variability in production - my VF-0A cannon fodder was just as floopy in fighter mode as my v1 VF-0S.
-
i have both the vf-1s roy focker 1st release and also vf-1j hikaru, and also both the VF-0A (cannon fodder) and VF-0S (ghost combo).
I can immediately point out there are also other problems such as
- the floppiness of the whole neck of the jet.
Really? My understanding was the ghost combo VF-0S had fixed the floppy fighter issue? That's the one thing that bugged me the most about the VF-0 fighter, that I could NOT fix - the loose tabs connecting the intakes to the fuselage plate, and the loose tolerances between the nose-heatshield-chest plate.
I was totally waiting for v2 of the stand-alone VF-0S. I guess I 'll pass if it's going to have a broken back.
-
Yup, my first plastic model was the very same hornet. The original prototypes had leading edge wing notches and LERX slots right?
Funny thing is that model was so old, it actually had a YF-17 nose profile.
-
Can I change my vote to broken?? The dreaded left shoulder hairline crack due to spur-side of pin pointing up syndrome just cropped up on mine - maybe it was there all along, and I just haven't noticed. Luckily, it's still as tight as the other shoulder. Also, one of the head laser turrets is loose as a MOFO in fighter mode, it won't stay horizontal.
Surprisingly, these issues don't bug me nearly as much as I thought they would. I guess I have a hardened heart after my VF-0S/-0A v1 disasters.

The pure white, plus the fact there's no colored stripe right below the neck, really helps camoflage the priest collar

I don't have a TV 1/48 pilot to try, but surely that giant salami of a control stick in the DX would interfere with the molded-on stick on the Yamato pilot.
I will also add that there is a very light blue tint to the canopy, it's just not very noticeable.
