  1. All,

Years ago I was interviewed by Toy Fare Magazine and it resulted in this short piece.

I haven't been able to locate my copy and I cannot remember what issue it appeared in.  Does anyone here know?  If so, I'd like to track down another copy.  I know I was working for Texas Instruments at the time so this was sometime before September 2003.

    Thanks,

    Carl

  2. I think you had a very good counterpoint though, maybe 1/32 is biting off too much. Perhaps the 1/48 would be the better route to go given the need to re-engineer some bits anyway to make it more of a toy (and open the possibility for a Tread later). While I genuinely really like the idea it's probably too niche to ever take off. If anyone is in the toy industry and thinks it's worth giving it a try I'm happy to spend some time on the project. I suppose it's best to wait and see what Evolution is working on any way. If they killed it there'd really be no market.

I love the idea... and I for one would die to have a 1/32 Tread. If this ever goes anywhere PLEASE PM me as I'm not near as good at keeping up with the forums as I used to be.

  3. Not certain if this is directed at me or not but I don't need or want the science explained. Let me state this differently. Let's say the movie is set on Earth and the bad guys come into the system with the intent of blowing us up. They fuel their weapon by consuming the Sun while the good guys fight to stop them. The good guys eventually destroy the bad guy's weapon before it fires but after it has consumed the Sun. And the next shot is of people celebrating in the daylight on Earth. Is that really ok? I just feel something needed to be explained a bit better. I would hope 99% of the population would know we can't get along without the Sun so I would expect this to bother more then just me. I enjoyed the movie and I'm doing my best to ignore this issue but it just feels like something poking at me and it feels like there are a 100 ways this could have been done better and not created this odd situation. ANH for example had the death start in orbit and and it had to get past the planet before it could fire. That makes perfect sense to me.

You guys are actually trying to apply scientific laws to Star Wars? Seriously? I think you guys want the Star Trek thread.

There are plenty of things to pick apart but for the most part I just let them slide by (and anyone trying to make ANY scientific sense of the Star Wars universe is in need of therapy...

  4. Saw it yesterday and loved it. One thing bothers me that I haven't seen asked yet.

The Starkiller Base is fueled by consuming the system's sun before its beam weapon destroys all the planets.

    (1) The mass of a star is more then the mass of any planet. How can the base contain all that mass/energy? Say it has a black hole core... but then what about all that gravity? I guess if they can create artificial gravity they should be able to neutralize it as well.

    (2) It has trees growing on it. Where do these trees get their light when the base is traveling between systems? I'd expect everything on the surface to dye rather quickly even if the base started its life as a normal planet with plant life.

    (3) And finally... once the base has consumed the sun aren't all the planets in the system destined to die a slow death as they freeze? Sure they didn't suffer the quick death of the beam weapon but aren't they just as dead? I guess you can now evacuate.

    (4) Or when the base exploded is it supposed to create a new sun for the system? When they take off to go look for Luke I don't recall everyone being in the dark. Maybe the system had two (or more stars).

Am I the only one that was struck with these thoughts?

  5. I'm starting to think that this may very well be needed. Perhaps after the Eager (Baby Space Crab)

NICE!!!! But I'm torn too. I have the 1/32 Legioss and I'm STILL hoping for a 1/32 Tread to go with it. The pinnacle of all Mospeada models feels incomplete without this. Yes, I know it would be huge. Yes, I know it would be expensive. But I hope there is at least a small chance this sees the light of day sometime.

    Keeping hope alive,

    Carl

  6. Sorry... I've been out of touch too long. I'm hoping John has enough extra pink resin that I can get in on "Pinky Space Crab". If he's taking suggections for what's next... I'm really hoping to someday see a 1/32 Tread that mates with his 1/32 Legios. Maybe with these extras...

It would be big and anything but cheap but I'd give and arm and a leg for one.

Here is another set of add-ons which could be made for the 1/32 Legios.

Wasn't there a project underway to make the other heads? What ever became of that?

  7. Anyone here read the 2007 JMS World War Z script that was posted on-line back in the day? Now THAT is a movie I would have loved to have seen. That script was a great read and I was hoping to see it on the big screen someday. The current version I don't think has any of the JMS version left in it though and sounds much less interesting.

  8. Finally finished the game. Its probably the first computer game I've played all the way to the end since the first X-Com something like 20 years ago. Anyways a couple questions... Has anyone installed the DLC Slingshot for this game?http://www.destructoid.com/xcom-enemy-unknown-slingshot-dlc-video-and-screens-239828.phtml I just purchased it and installed it and I'm curious do I need to start all over to see the new missions or can I just play from one of my saved games? And is there even a way to know its been installed correctly? I've tried loading a few saved games and jumped forward a few weeks and I haven't seen anything new yet. Thanks, Carl

  9. I was in High School working on a report at CSULB library and for some weird reason I decided to open up a New Yorker Magazine and there was a pen and ink Illustration by him.

Any chance you have a link to that illustration? I'd love to see it.

    Thanks,

    Carl
