Bandai also teased those in HMR a while back.

Original language with subs is totally cool with me. Part of the character of the show is the sound of the original actor's voices. With other shows, I prefer to listen to the Japanese and have gotten used to reading subs. I don't think I've ever heard a dub that sounds as good and convincing as the original in terms of acting. And that's dialog only.  While Mari Ijima and some of the Walkure girls pulled it off, voice actors are often not singers, so that's additional talent you have to hire. I wouldn't want the release of these shows to become held back by obstacles of cost or time.

The guys above pretty much covered it. My son’s a tween, for the record, so not a little kid any more but not sure he’s ready for one of the darker, heavier chapters of Macross, especially when he hasn’t even seen the original yet. He’s also not real fond of reading subs.

Gaiares is one of those games that’s simply above my skill level, especially now that my reaction times are probably not as good as they were 30 years ago.

@mikeszekely Interesting thoughts on the Metroid series. I don’t fully agree (Super still ranks top tier for me; and Fusion is a very well executed game despite the linearity) but always interesting to read other perspectives. I still need to play Dread (now that my son is done with it) but was trying to finish Samus Returns first. You may want to give the original two a play through and see what you think. Have you ever played Prime?

Worldwide or not, I’ll be getting the VF-0. It’s a great looking design and one of my favorite VFs.

I don't remember any HMR POs being that bad, certainly nowhere near the level of the Roy 1S DX. At any rate, the fact that we may actually - finally - get some more of these makes me not really care how crazy PO might be. 

Really tempted to go see this. Wish it were a little more kid-friendly so I could take my son like I did with the Transformers re-release a couple months ago.

Haven't posted here in quite a while, but have to say that I am thrilled to see that Macross HMR is not forgotten and seems to have great things ahead. VF-0 seems a given, VF-1S and Tomahawk seem likely... all fantastic additions to the lineup. Looking forward to PO time!

Great idea, and nicely done! The print lines in the tent give it a fabric-like texture.

HMR is great for the desk! Mine have been keeping me company through the last several months at home. Recently decided to set up a Hikaru shelf.

So sad. There are still so many untapped opportunities. Maybe Bandai will come back to it one day.

Wow, just watched Empire Strikes Back last night with my family. I’m showing the movies to my son for the first time. We were talking about how James Earl Jones got no voice credit in the original release.

Just snagged a Roy off of Amazon. I figure that may be about the best option for now. Looks like Buyee was going to run a little higher with handling fees, etc.

Complete set of empty Skull squadron boxes from the Bandai Hi-Metal VF 1/100 line, including Hikaru, Max, Kakizaki, and Roy. No toys or parts are included. Both Max and Kakizaki include instructions; Roy and Hikaru do not. Does not include the outer sleeve that holds them all together. Original plastic inserts are included. Condition is reasonably good. Appropriately, it appears that Max is probably in the best shape, and Kakizaki is in the worst shape.

Yep, so much Macross potential remaining in this line. Bandai seems to be putting all their Macross focus into DX these days. This has been a bit of a tight year for me financially, so I'm glad for the break in that sense, but would really like to get my hands on some new HM-R!

I was in my 20s when 7 was released, and would agree that yes, it does fit with that early '90s visual style. I think it's safe to say that every Macross series is to some extent a product of its times, and the trends of some decades age better than others. I just finished another watch-through of 7, and while the animation looks good (albeit frequently repetitive) I don't think the colorful style has aged as well as some other series like SDFM and Zero.

The other thing I noticed about 7's animation is that they didn't do such a great job of making Fire Bomber look realistic while in concert. As a musician myself, I notice this sort of thing, and can usually tell if an actor is really playing or not. As much as I've heard that Kawamori and crew go to great lengths to research accurate fighter pilot moves, you'd think they would have done the same with a series that relied so heavily on its music.

Bought this off AliExpress, and realized it wasn’t going to work for my needs. I believe this is essentially a replica of what came included with the Arcadia 30th Anniversary VF-1J. My understanding is that this will theoretically work with 1/60 VF-1, VF-19, VF-25, VF-29.

Get yourself a few sets of the Hi Metal VF-1 super parts from about 10 years ago, and you’re covered, assuming you don’t mind that the arm parts are movie style. I’m pretty sure that’s what they used in that photo.

Those were fun to hear! Lion is probably my favorite song from Frontier, though I think the big band style is better suited to the original Macross theme.
