  1. My wife really likes the looks of the Alto Custom DX toy, she has nicknamed it "Arnie" after Arnold Schwartzeneggar. When I showed her a pic of theVF-171 teal/blue one, she said she really liked it and that it also reminded her of Arnie!

  2. Reading some of the comments, I prefer the non-armored look. I just wish they included the MDE Particle Beam rifle that attached to the wrist as standard and not part of some kit you have to buy later. Justrealized how many darn internal weapons the VF-17/VF-171 has as a standard, does any other valk boast as many?

  3. I really need to raise the money and get this! I was a little burned by my 1st version dx VF-25F. With the wing root laser things cracking and whatnot, but seeing this just gets me excited! MaybeI can convince my wife that this is a congratulations present for me for starting RN classes!

  4. Sorry, having just read what I wrote, I come across as an illiterate dolt, or someone not familiar with English...

I am neither, I just have a Kindle Fire that likes to auto correct me and obviously isn't used to my wording.

  5. Graham,

you have the legioss/tread iota(green) set from CM, right? Have you noticed if your rear landing gears are glued or attached in any way to the gear bay door? I transformed the legioss into fighter, tried to open the main gear door and there was nothing there! I moved the toy around, heard s metal rattle and looked inside the leg to see the entire landing gear flopping around. When I fished it out, there was no glue marks, or any indication that it was secured in any way other than sheer dumb luck and maybe a sprinkle of ankle magic! I am not fond of the fighter mode anyway, so not a big deal as it never could rest on the landing gear anyway, but I thought it strange and wanted to warn you, especially if you have small kids who might have the tendency of trying to swallow a metal landing.

  6. I have a question. Wherecan I get, for the cheapest price, an English subbed DVD copy of the entire Genesis Climber Mospeada? I have to save up lots of cash because I am starting RN school in April, but wanted to show it to my son, on DVD. I can't download a bittorrent because I don't have a computer, just my Kindle Fire. Can anyone offer any suggestion besides ebay, where they go for $75-100 USD? Thanks

  7. I see the argument that more head lasers equals bigger target. I also like the design of the VF-171 and VF-171EX. I think it is probably one of the more fearsome looking mecha next to the SV-51. I do not like the BFG of the VF-25G specifically, I like the VF-11 Full Armor, but that is a Battroid only gunpod. I am not familiar with the VF-4 you named and I knew about the pap games, but not the dreamcast appearance.

Hmmm, I guess that you make a good argument that the Vf-22 wasn't too short changed, and I guess that it filled a very important role in Mac 7 for Max and Milia.

  8. I would tend to agree that I would not see a sniper version of the VF-22 either, as I can't really see any transformable jet lumbering around a rifle that is as long as it is. I don't know about a radar dish version or another type of electronic warfare type, but I was just trying to throw out terms that would equate to versions that we are familiar with, ala Macross Frontier. I don't know why, but I just can't understand the logic of a step backwards that was taken with the VF-25 with the elimination of internal missile launchers that both the YF-19 and YF-21 enjoyed. Since we don't have a lot of information on the VF-24, but it is hinted that it is more powerful than the VF-25 because of earth's hesitation of giving colony forces equal technology to what earth has in its' arsenal. I understand that the creators want to have new mecha to go along with each new series, and the VF-19/VF-22S are associated with Macross Plus/7, but the backstory of the reasoning behind the VF-171 just is beyond me. Anyways, I am getting a little off topic here.

I can see the VF-21/22 with multiple head lasers just as the VF-19E/P/Kai/S enjoy, I think it would be quite easy to incorporate in the design and would give the VF-22S a reason to have the "S" designation other than being a "Special Operations Fighter". The VF-17 had 2 and 4 headlasers, I could see that given the "what if" scenario, the VF-21/22 eliminating or reducing the number of gunpods to just 1, and making the wrist lasers the primary weapon system and beefing up the power. As was stated earlier in this thread, the YF-21/VF-22S has not 1, but 2 shields that can have PPB, has those lovely arm lasers and has the Inertial Vector Control system that gives it a leg up on reducing the "G-Load" on the pilot before the implimentation of ISC and Ex-Gears.

I just think that being in 2 anime's and having as much going for it as we have seen in those anime's, the YF-21/VF-22S really gets short changed in the continuity and I think that is a real shame. I love the YF-19, I have the YF-19 Bird of Prey from Yamato and it is probably my favorite toy that I have collected so far, but I think that my VF-22S Milia toy gets the short end of the stick and I see so much potential in the design when I am holding and looking at the toy in a side by side comparison of the 2 designs.

  9. Rather than start a new topic, thought I would just add to this one. I have been debating in my head, a "what if" sort of scenario. What if the YF-21 Won the Project SuperNova? What variants would we see of a Vf-21/22? If we follow Macross Frontier with variants, we could see:

Vf-21/22A- single head laser like current design that we know.

VF-21/22B- 2 seats, single head laser.

Vf-21/22F- single seat, 2 additional head lasers for a total of 3

VF-21/22G- single seat, specialty head for sniping/sniper rifle gunpod

VF-21/22S- single seat with 4 additional head lasers for a total of 5.

RVF-21/22- single or dual seats with radar dish/electronic warfare gear.

I have always wondered this and I am curious about others thoughts.

  10. Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do for a PS3 Dualshock 3 controller that the buttons stopped working after I touched it and it shocked me? This is the second controller to crap the bed on me in this fashion, and at $55USD a pop, they are not exactly throw away items, now my original 60GB doesn't have a working controller. Is there a cheap fix for this? Thanks!

  11. Mine also stays in fighter mode because the left leg will not stay on in battroid mode. Also, the belly plates do not align properly any more, so there are limitless "pop-ups" on the bottom with the belly plates. I have to also agree with Graham again about the locking landing gear, this is probably the single most detracting thing about the design of the toy. A version 2, perhaps in 1/48 scale would give the room necessary to make this toy great.

  12. Ok, I am a little confused, perhaps I didn't explain that I don't have the upgrade kit, and I have no idea what the part looks like or does, so how can I "use shapeway" to make it? If you were talking to prospective recasters, then please disregard what I just said....

  13. I am getting a CM Iota Legioss/Tread Combo off ebay after my order for my v2 VF-1J was mistakenly sent to Canada instead of me. After looking around ebay and reading some reviews it seems that I will not enjoy connecting them as much without the upgrade kit part. Since new intakes or the extra big gun are not of much concern, if there is anyone willing, and with the required skillset, can the new connecting part be recast? Is it possible?

    Thanks,

  14. I would love a v3 Bird of Prey YF-19, there is just something about that color scheme that I really enjoy, and out of all my valks, she likes my YF-19 Bird of Prey the most because of the color! Speaking of other wishlist for revised valks, would be the SV-51(all 3 variants) with non floppiness, better wing lock strength, better arm joints so they don't flop and make the hips guns stay I place in all modes!

Also, I would like to see them revisit the YF-19 and YF-21 in the 1/48 scale. I know the first thing that will come to mind is: That will cost so much money! Well, since valks now seem to be around $300+ for the 1/60 scale VF-19S/VF-17S, I do not think that it is inconceivable to swallow the cost of a 1/48 scale valk toy. I would just love to have one of those beasts sitting on my shelf...imagine a 1/48 scale SV-51! Now that would be huge!

  15. the thing about the VF-22S is that even though it appears later in the series right besides the VF-19F/S/Kai, we see the "ace pilots" flying the bird, giving the idea and credence that the performance of the Sturmvogel is higher than the VF-19. That being said, I would like to think that it could hold both gunpods along with reaction missiles in both bays, but realistically (as much as Macross can get) I tend to agree with the theory that it is an "Gunpod or reaction missile" I think that things are being stretched as it is to have such a thin side profile as the VF-22S boasts and mount weapons inside the leg storage covers and be realistic. I would have preferred the gunpods be mounted on the outside, like the YF-21. The guns are supposed to have stealth coverings, so no loss of stealth there.

Now here is something else, how do the micro-missiles that are stored in the internal pallets feed to both the dorsal launchers (4 black diamond shaped things on back) and also the leg bay covers? Since the leg bay covers move and I assume are not connected to the main body, just the legs, how is it feasible to have missiles fed to the, unless there is a missile magazine in the leg bay covers as well, which doesn't seem possible.....All this supposition is making my head hurt, back to programming kids toys for Christmas for me!
