cool. Is there anyway for you to photograph the linkage on this thing? I'm facinated by this. Are all the controlls for hidden inside the plane or can you see little pushrods and such on the outside?
-
this is an amazing project, Maybe with everyone following along for so long it's lost a little of its pazaz to you guys, but i just found it. It is absoloutly stunning that you are doing this, and so close to pulling it off. props to everyone involved, keep up the good work.

I was under the impression that the "Super" upgrade included at least enough armor to make the plane from being MORE vunerable than the standard VF. Personally, the VF-1 with super setup looks pretty sweet. It's bulky and mean. A thing for me was that i always though the Super Valkyrie was something that the SDF-1 crew had come up with, maybe built from extra parts. Fast packs being a standard unspacey thing is a little less cool.

Question For All Of Us Tech Junkies Of Macross
KingNor replied to Lightning's topic in Movies and TV Series
most valks can hover on their engines in gerwalk mode right? iirc woudlnt' that kind of power give them the ability to fly pretty much no matter what? i always though anything would fly as long as its power/weight ratio was good enough. -
i like the vf-1 clean for atmosphere flight obviously, in space i like the fast packs. for all other valks i like them non-fast pack, i like to pretend that the packs were a last ditch effort to catch the vf-1 up with zentradi forces. IMHO the idea that U.N. Spacey would keep building planes with engines that need fastpacks seems silly. I like to pretend that the rest of the valks don't need them.

i'd buy one if they came in anything less than XL and L. need a M people.

Any relation to "Skydoll"? dont' take my comments earlier too harshly, i just get a little sick of the asian obbsessed here in the states. at this point, a fascination with asian stuff, primarily anime and cheap imitation katanas, and said junk being mistaken for true japanise culture is wearing a bit thin on me. obsessing over anime and nothing else brings you closer to japanise culture the way cowboy movies would bring you closer to american culture. I wish more anime nerds realised this.
-
wolfx, these are hardly "hard core cultural" things. nor is anyones dislike of them some kind of culture shock. i'm most certainly not an otaku, and i'm not shocked by these at all. also being proud to be an otaku is lame american thing, in japan that lable is avoided like the plauge. it would be like proudly calling yourself a pedophilic sex offender here in the states, and being proud of it. I really just don't get what anyone would like about this, replacing childrens legs, for no apparent reason, with the hull of a plane, then strippin them down to their panties. I don't get what someone would like in that. they don't seem poseable, they don't really "flow" together. (its like they just chopped off a dolls legs, and attacked a kids mangled airplane toy to her lower section. also you seem to be somewhat proud that they're weird, you like them, and most people here seem to dislike them. which i think is kinda odd. also the fact you know what guro is doesn't make you more intune with japan either. heh. thats like saying i'm more in tune with america because i know what bestiality is. anyway back on topic. I still don't understand the point of these figures, it is a tribute to ww2 hardware? does it relate to some show or something?
-
I'm probably driving from the SF bay area on the 10th. Who else is going? Lets get a tally and see who's looking for what.
-
i dont' understand what i'm looking at. their legs look like plane fuselages' which is dumb because a ww2 plane with no wings looks more like a slug than shapely womans legs. why are there propellers in the other girls shins, why does the girl have no knees? why is she holding a plane body like its her weapon/pet. wtf is this.

I got one. I'll probably get flamed, but my roommate was wathing Witch Hunter Robin. He thought it was stellar out of this world awesomeness. I didn't see anything amazing. Maybe not the worst, but after seeing other fans raving about it, i'd say its heavily over hyped, over rated. -
anyone have pics of these?
-
where can you get this book?
-
1/48 would be HUGE. remember, the valks in batroid mode are roughly the size of a Zentradi soldier.. so something like the Glaug would be like 2 or 3 feet tall i think. afaik these are not in production in anything aproaching 1/48 scale.
-
it is kind of funny, but i get as much out of 1 paragraph as i need from this thing
-
"Alan Moore, the author of the much admired graphic novel "V for Vendetta," disassociated himself from this production and had his name removed from the credits. This should make his fan base extra wary, especially since two critically panned pics ("From Hell," "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen") have already been hatched from options sold on Moore's work." -Link Oh dear...

big F, big F, i'm a little shocked you'd put a jetfire in the same standing as a $5 bootleg. I'm even a little offended you'd cut up a jetfire over a re-issue valk. Jetfire might not be popular but he's WAY more rare. pls don't hurt your jetfires, people!

I'm not allowed to talk about what i'm working on. But its COOL. I can talk about it in a few weeks i think. :-)

Thanks for that review, i have a big shipment of various asorted ball joints from HLJ on the way. I think i got some of the ones pictured here.. It might be over kill, but i bet puting either a ball joint or double hinge joint in a 1/55's knee would add to poseability ALOT. Two of the smaller joints in the foot could be cool too, if it could be made to look right. Lord knows i'm going to be tempted to cut apart my reish 1/55 brownie when they show up.

I'm looking for a big, clean image of the Backglass on a Black Knight 2000 Pinball table. All the images i find on the web are either small, fuzzy, over saturated or have a big flash on them. I know this is extreemly random but it would help me out alot. If any of you have this image, or know a place that might have one, or know the location of a Black Knight 2000 table in the San Jose/San Francisco bay area, Please please please pretty please let me know. Thanks MW. :-)

ah-ha. its working now, thanks a bunch these will come in handy.
-
Cool, unfortunately that link isn't working for me, and when i do a search for "ball joints" i get no returns. Also its not exactly clear what part of the site i should look at for ball joints. Any pointers?
-
Does anyone here supply ball joints and sockets? I'm looking at doing some custom stuff and i'd like a set of various sized sockets. So does anyone know good supplyers or members that sell these? (I'd rather my money went to some MW members before i go to a regular hobby shop.) THX

No not really, though i'll admit its been a really long time since i watched this. Now that i really think about it. I'd have to say that Dragon Ball Z is probably my least favorite Anime of all time. I liked "Dragon Ball" alot but "Z" i didn't like at all. The characters (besides picolo), the story, the plot, the pacing, the locations, the animation, their diagetic world.. i didn't/don't (is it still running?) like any of it. Maybe its just the american version but something that really annoyed me was how they constantly were saying "I'm going to send him to another demension". Couldn't they just suck up the nuts to say "I'm gonna kill him" or something? I realize goku died (or something) and spent like 4 months as a halo wearing guy, but wasn't that because he was "dead" and not "sent to another demension"? anyway DBZ ew. -

"Historical reality," like how it was the kid's fault their country was at war and they died from starvation? Gimme a break. Good job missing the point of the movie, though. I bet you hated Schindler's List too, because it was the Jew's fault they had so much money and brought the Holocaust upon themselves. 374459[/snapback] The point is that the movie was saying: "These kids (and by association: Japan) are being killed by war. How cruel and unjust war is being to these kids (and by association: Japan) who can't help but be in this situation." The problem is that the association these kids have with japan is lost because its Japans own fault that they were in the war. The film uses the kids to symbolize japan as a whole. Yet Japan is hardly as innocent (as a country) of its plight as those children are. No one will argue that children starving to death is a situation that the brought on themselves. So its pretty underhanded to use starving children to symbolise a country that arguably started the fight that got it in the situation it was in. Thats my take on it anyway.
