And the whole series ends with no comment on the still-comatose inhabitants of Al Shahal. Sure Walküre will probably handle that but of course the Windermereans will get away scot-free with that too. And the whole time the series stupidly pretends no one could have actually died in that incident because they were affected in the middle of operating hazardous equipment at the time.

I'd like to believe that they woke up from that before the series ended and were understandably pissed.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but..

Has there been any model kits for the cruiser and frigates from the Macross series?

Been flying around them in Delta scramble and liking the design.

Unfortunately no :(. They only exist to get blown up on screen to make the bad guys look intimidating. They're such looking ships too.

On the subject of canards.. does anyone have any memory or know of an instance showing whether the ones on the VF-31 series actually move, or are they just stationary surfaces?  Reason I ask is that their mounting point pretty severely limits how much they can actually move around.

Even if you assume the panel lines on the rear half mark the control surface itself, that still means they're only good for a nose-down moment, unless the canards have separate leading and trailing edge surfaces.

Just curious, it's part of why I think I like the look of the 31 better without any canards at all.  It certainly would make it easier to pick up off the shelf.

There was one scene in episode 13 where a mook 31A maneuvered behind a Var'd 171 and shot it down. During that 3-5 second scene it showed the canards moving. If i had a Gif i would post it.

  4. That's a question with a lot of potential answers... since older fighters are often retired from normal duties and placed into the training fleet, and the special forces are sometimes keeping the fighters in service much longer.

The VF-1 Valkyrie, for instance, went out of mass production in 2015 but was still being used as late as 2050 by the special forces because it was as close to invisible-in-plain-sight as you're likely to get with a giant robot thanks to the prevalence of civilian VF-1s. That's a good 35 years after mass production ended.

The VF-4's mass production ended in 2022 and it was still in service in 2047 with the special forces, though it'd otherwise been retired to training service. It was presumably surplussed out to civilian buyers in the late 2040's or early 2050's, same as the VF-1X series. That's around 29-30 years.

The Frontier fleet was selling off the last of its VF-11s in 2058 to civilian buyers, though we don't know when mass production ended on that model. It didn't enter production until the end of the 2020s, so it was only in service for about 28 years total, though as an emigrant fleet main fighter there probably wasn't any one end of production galaxy-wide... every fleet likely stopped at a different time.

The VF-171 is already staring down the prospect of replacement at only about 20 years in service, though like the VF-11 it'll probably be retired at different points in time in each fleet using it. Master File suggests that it was still being produced around 2065, with the final variant being the VF-171L.

What is the VF-171L? Was that the one that appeared in Delta?

  5. I want the people who made to give an apology to us.

I know it's wicked late, but i have a few complaints about this episode. First off, how the hell did Frejya not get hit by, not one, but the flaming wreckage of TWO Lil'Drakkens? Why not play Ikenai Borderline and Absolute 5 for the finale? Those two songs would have been perfect. Assuming all those other NUNS ships were from Voldor, i would have liked to see some Voldoran Strike 171s kicking the crap out of the Windies in space like how they did in Ep 22, although at least we got Elysion doing some work though.

  6. Not sure this is the right thread, but guess Wind SInging might qualify as technology.

Imagine there were to be no Mikumo for Roid to catch, and King Heinz would need to stay in power and sing. But he is a boy with a soprano voice. What if he were to reach puberty and his voice were to break? Would Windermere be left without its Wind Singer?

Don't tell me they castrate their Wind-singing kings...

IIRC, wouldn't that cause health complications? I've read that a lot of Sorprano's died because of castration at an early age, so i'd image Roid would want to avoid that happening to Heinz.
