  1. That IS a matt top coat... might need a second one I think.

The weathering is stupidly easy to do... you undercoat with a metal coloured Lacquer (bonds to the base plastic better for later), put down a coat of hairspray or chipping fluid like MIG fluid, spray your acrylic layers, get out a tub of water, some tooth picks, a dremel wire wheel and an electric toothbrush and wet the model and scratch it, scrap it and rub it with the wire wheel in your hand (not in the tool!) and the tooth brush.

Then flory wash it, wipe it with your finger and clear it.

    Decal it.

Scratch up the decals to match underneath.

    Clear it.

    Flory it again.

    Wipe as needed.

    Matt Clear it.

    Look who's back.

    Love your modern camo schemes.

    The more destroids the better!

Just finished a ton of 40K Tau in a green version of this scheme and some Kill team Tau in an urban camo version so I grabbed one of my ebay rescue Destroids and tried it out.

BTW... that hangar you made... brilliant!

All the hasegawa kits are molded in a single colour.  See the parts pictures in the following links:

    VF-31F: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10531055

    VF-31A: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10472150

    VF-31J (Anniversary): https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10514611

    VF-31J: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10460298

    VF-31C: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10486644

The kits come with water slide decals to replicate some of the colourful parts but some painting is required.

Just remember the paint codes are way wrong for the VF31J Anniversary model and no one seems to know the correct ones so its currently impossible to paint that scheme correctly and colour match the decals.

Primaris aren't too much of an issue for knights. Two main weapons shown on the above models, the avenger gatling cannon (12 shots S6, -2AP, 2dmg) and the Helverin autocannon (2d3 shots S7, -1AP, 3dmg) are very well suited for primaris. Also I've fought bobby G with knights (per codex) and he lasted a turn before he was thrown from the field. Seriously two fails against a 6dmg weapon and his out.

On a side note one of our Tales group is doing Imperial Fist primaris, he hates my knights and they are only getting worse for him now that we have a proper codex. Soooo many good relics, praise the Omnissiah.

And to keep on topic, it's a bit rough, but here's another WIP of the small knight.

those guns look so much like Tau weapons.

I'm building a District 9 themed Tau army

Noticed it's been a while since we got a new post.

So I pretty much finished my first full knight for House Jenius, I just need to do the house emblem.

Any Primaris marines you find... smash them! Those 2W Hellblaster swinging jerks have been a pain in the ass to drop. Especially with Girlyman back on the field!

I've been working on something similar some time ago. After fixing my Papercraft VF-9 I thought about doing a high detailed model in 3D to send to Shapeways and have it printed.

I had the HQ wings done and was working to get the mainframe done, but you know - I don't have much time, so this ended up in development hell. Maybe I have to take it up again. My idea was to have it in fighter mode in 1/72 to stand with my Hasegawa models.

@Xigfrid: I am thrilled to see your model printed and in action.

If you ever complete it for 1/72 scale I'd buy one for the Museum display

    Nice Legos!

The kids have finished their job and now its my turn. I chose the 1/144 Paragrafix set because it seemed easier.

For the kids fun factor, I'm planning to let them to control the lights with a bluetooth app called ArduDroid and a bluetooth card for the Arduino. Seems doable, but I have some studying to do... Check it out on youtube it's pretty cool.

I've primed the entire sheet of PE with Krylon Colormaster (supposedly for plastic and metal). Its a short cut to make things easier, and then I'll snip them off. As we all know hobby primer wont work with PE, it peels and rubs off too easily, so lets see how Krylon works out. Seems okay so far...

Tamiya spray primer for metal is a good choice if you need the detail to stay visible

  8. Shout out to anyone with information leading to the acquisition of a 1/72 decal set or model WITH useable decals of either an F-14 or F/A-18 of VF-143/VFA-143 Pukin Dogs. Reward... I'll buy it off you or fire off to you a Bandai 1/72 Macross model if I'm buying it off someone else you put me on too. Needed for another vf4 build
