  1. I'd say that's about the closest to a sure thing that you can get.
  2. I was thinking about the Andromeda. It just looks too much to me like the stock-standard original out of the art design books.
  3. An update from Yamato2202.net! Added to the messages section, illustrations from Makato Kobayashi (who, according to westfall, is taking the role of assistant director), Junichi Tamamori, and Taiji Ishizu, who are doing mecha design. You're going to want to look at these. Although I must admit, I'm disappointed by one of the images.
  4. An update from Yamato2202.net! Added to the messages section, illustrations from Makato Kobayashi (who westfall tells me is taking the role of assistant director), Junichi Tamamori, and Taiji Ishizu, who are doing mechanical design. You're going to want to look at these. Mind you, I have to admit I'm disappointed at the level of detail of one of them. Looks like it was copied from the stock-standard 3/4 design art from the original series.
  5. Series writer Harutoshi Fukui had completed Episode 10 by the end of February this year. According to the March Yamato Crew Ship's Log, the aim is for a release early next year.
  6. Not the case. "Saraba" is the official Japanese title, "Farewell" the official English title.
  7. Arrivederci is Italian for "farewell". I'm not sure about where that title originated though (I'm guessing an Italian version?). The official English title of the movie was Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato: In the Name of Love.
  8. The name is based on that of the original saga's movie form of the Comet Empire Story: Saraba Uchuu Senkan Yamato: Ai no Senshi.
  9. It also contains messages from Shinji Nishizaki (Producer), Nobuyoshi Habara (series director), and Harutoshi Fukui (script writer). Courtesy of a Japanese-speaking friend, I have translations of the messages from: Habara-san: "(I will) put my heart and soul (into the new series)". Nishizaki-san: "My most important task is finding new talent. I search for new talents. I now feel I have accomplished this". I haven't even tried Fukui-san's yet, it's just too long for my limited ability to translate.
  10. A combination of elements from Yamato 2/Comet Empire and Saraba Yamato, which was the movie version of the Comet Empire story which was released before the TV series and has a much higher body count.
  11. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't continue that trend. They found a real balance between staying true to the original story and providing it with more depth and a wider perspective in 2199, so I predict that to continue. It will be interesting to see how much of a role the changed political landscape (i.e. Garmillas homeworld still intact, under new leadership, but its military forces stretched thin already due to the empire's size, exacerbated by Yamato's actions at Balun wiping out a good portion of the fleet) will play. No mention yet of whether Yuki Nobuteru is returning, but that will probably be revealed on the website when it goes live Thursday.
  12. Woke up to the news this morning. Especially glad that Noboyushi Habara is directing. Now all I need is a date so I can start planning a trip to Japan.
  13. HLJ have some specials at the moment for those interested in discounted Yamato goods: Mecha Colle and 1/1000 kits still in stock reduced. This includes the Mars Fleet Collection #2 1/1000 for 800 (75% off) yen, the 1/1000 Deusura Core Ship for 950 yen (75% off), and the Polmeria carrier for 2250 yen (50% off) They also have the 1/8 Yamato Girls line Akira Yamamoto Ship Uniform figure from August last year at 60% off, down to 5400 yen. I couldn't help myself but get a second Polmeria and the Mars Fleet #2 at those prices.
  14. I think he's referring to Yamato Resurrection, which also goes by Rebirth. You're thinking of the Rebuild of Evangelion
  15. And didn't it have some ridiculous caveat on it, like once those six shots were done, the gun could never be used again?
  16. I can see them taking some design elements from the Zoellgut-class dreadnought as well, that is, more turrets with more barrels. Maybe three four-or-five-barrel shock cannon turrets forward, maybe two astern, and one ventral either end. The one thing I'd like to see moved, modified, or deleted from the new Andromeda is those X-form stabiliser wings which prevent a clear broadside being fired from all the shock cannon turrets on a single turret.
  17. The Wave Motion Gun is nowhere near that big. Aside from energy conduit from the engine, the gun only takes up the area forward of the automatic navigation room, where Yurisha's hibernation chamber is.
  18. Given there's enemy ships out there that are much bigger than Yamato, and a long stemming idea that bigger is better, I'd say there's a good chance Andromeda will be bigger. That, and a larger size could more easily justify its level of automation. I've had the thought in my mind for some time that if Yamato's length is based off the height of Tokyo Tower, then why not make that analogy stick with Andromeda and have its length based on the height of the Skytree?
  19. The first book is all the 26-episode series. Covers Yamato, the Cosmo Zero, the UNCF Mars Fleet, the Zoellgut-class dreadnought, and the carriers and fighters from the Rainbow Cluster battle. The second book isn't exclusively Ark. While it includes the Gatlantean ships, including Megaluda, it also includes a lot of Garmillas ships from the main series, and the Hayabusa/Cosmo Falcon: https://yamatocrew.jp/shop/html/products/detail.php?product_id=735
  20. The first part is correct, but that's the first I've ever heard of the name or the ship length you mention ever being in any 1978 proposal. What's your source on that?
  21. Assuming Andromeda ends up being roughly the same size as Yamato, sure. If they decide to make it substantially larger relative to Yamato than it was in the original, then 1/1000 and SoC might be all we get.
  22. The UNCF ships such as Andromeda are a given, however I wouldn't get my hopes up about the Seagull or Czvarke becoming available in 1/72 scale - even though these would be ideal to release in the leadup to the new series.
