Im hoping the yf-19 gets gets either a fast pack or a 1/48 version so that the prices will drop. I just dont like that much to pay that much for it and it is always at those prices.

Did any one experience the change from paying up to a grand for old bandai and takatoku to having so much more choice with yamato and toynami?

Im lucky I came from a background of doing research and did this before collecting again. Otherwise I think I would have been in your shoes as well. Dont feel to bad about it thou. You will probably find deals in the long run that will make up for it and laugh about this later.

I would like to begin by describing my back ground before posing my question. In university I majored in sociology because I like to know about human experiences. Lately I have been wondering about the "early days of collecting". I only just recently got back into heavily collecting macross/robotech toys since I decided that I now had the means to and since I stopped collecting transformers. Now I here whispers that collecting today is much different than about 7 years ago. Since I was not collecting heavily during the time that most people here were I missed out on the experience of change between the mid 90s to now. What I would like to here about is detailed stories of the changes. A description of any kind of change and why you think it happened will be greatly appreciated. You dont have to feel like this is an essay. Point form is fine(although descriptive sentences are easier to understand). So I emplore you all to treat me to some stories if you like. I also do not want to limit this thread to those have been collecting for years. "Newbies" opinons are much appreciated as well for the full story. I would also like to see pictures...lots and lots of pictures

My father in law helped me custom build a whole shelf case that is super huge. It wasnt as hard as I thought it would be and was far cheaper than visiting the doors of Ikea.

Im an OOB collector and even I have to admit that collections look so much more impressive when they are all in origoinal packaging.

The thing that I love about this toy being released is that it has made a whole lot my ebay purchases much cheaper lately because every one else is saving their cash(I just just collect the vintage stuff) and not bidding on the items that I am going for. Yamato keep pumping out the "distractions"

Ive never understood paying over $100 for something that you are going to customize. Dont get me wrong I do enjoy seeing a beautiful custom but it just gives me a wierd feeling.

I wonder if Yamato would take interest in those graphs. Then again they probably have millions of their own.

I decided to marry my wife after she saw that I was collecting LOTR figures and bought me a gimli for xmas. She doesnt mind that I have my collection as long as it doesnt burden us financially and it stays in the "toy room". Shes honestly tried to enjoy anime but just isnt into it. Im glad that Im starting to set limits for myself that I dont buy to much and crowd my collection space. im finding anyways that it looks better if the spaceisnt too crowded any way. My wifes father even helped me buil a huge shelf that goes from the floor to the ceiling. so I love them both. Not too many guys can say that about their fathers in law.
