  1. Is there any chance now for an official Arcadia FB2012 VF-4? Or is there still licensing issues and HM-R the best chance for a skull squadron VF-4?
  2. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2015-10-29/bandai-teases-giant-26-inch-sdf-1-macross-14-inch-vf-1-valkyrie-toys/.94775 This is the article, but I think there was some confusion as to whether it was referring to a HM-R YF-19 or the 1/60 DX-C. If the Bandai YF-19 is potentially vapor the rerelease of the Arcadia YF-19 becomes very tempting. Your review of it was very helpful though the durability score scared me off a bit.
  3. Any word of a V2 or a V1.1? I'm liking the Nexx SAP bundle, but having trouble justifying the price in a year loaded with great releases.
  4. So, is it confirmed this is a thing? Was the ANN article correct and a DX YF-19 1/60 is on its way? Prices for the SMS version seem to have quieted down so hopefully the M+ version preorder will be up soon.

    Hi-Metal R

I don't know if this has been addressed, but does anyone know how the HM-R Regults stand in the way of accessories? The preview pictures seem to indicate it will be pretty bare-bones. If it came with either of its missile packs, that would be very cool. Also seen hiding in one of the dioramas is a Nousjadeul-Ger. I can't tell if it's a resin prototype or a 3D printed prototype or something that is ready-ish for production. If anyone is able to eyeball it and figure out which it is, that would be great. I really dig the Nos-Ger as a design, but it seems to lack the relatively widespread popularity of the other Zentradi mecha. For anyone familiar with the show(s), is there a reason for this? Thanks.
  6. I don't know if it was not enough coffee or too much coffee or my general illiteracy, but I posted in Arcadia VF-1J GBP (which I also got and its awesome) instead of Hi Metal R VF-1J GBP. Mybad and thank you anyways.
  7. Please disregard. I am illiterate. Thanks.
  8. With all the back and forth in the VF-0X thread and related threads I thought it would be interesting to get an anonymous (or public as you prefer) headcount on how many MW'ers are actually planning to plunk down the ~30,000+ Yen for Arcadia's upcoming 1/60 VF-0S. I hope the poll options allow a good range of expression and participation is good. Your help is appreciated. Thank you. Additionally, if anyone knows how many regular active members Macross World has, that would also be helpful.

  10. Hello, My collecting budget wound down a little earlier than I anticipated and there wasn't enough money left to get a real Odon Turbo Custom or really any V2 Scopedog. I figured I could still pick up a The Last Red Shoulder Parts Set for not that much and I have a Yamato V1 1/12 Scopedog sitting around so I've decided to make a go of it and try making my own cheapo "Odon Turbo Custom". I'm also planning to weather it, since I like the paint job Takara's DMZ's have. The first snag I ran into was that I couldn't find a guide on how to safely disassemble my Scopedog. I figured out the arms simply enough, but the torso and legs elude me. The whole thing feels very rickety and I don't want to risk damaging anything. The next problem is the red shoulder part. As far as I know the only difference (though I've heard the backpacks might be different) is that the Odon set has the famous red shoulder piece. Since the Yamato Scopedog already feels quite a bit like a model kit I thought it should be relatively easy to paint. I don't know that much about model paints so this will be something of an adventure. From what I've gathered I think it goes like this: Clean part to be painted ---> Primer coat #1 ---> Wait 24 hours ---> Paint coat #1 ---> Wait 24 hours ---> Paint coat #2 ---> Wait 24 hours ---> Paint coat #3 ---> Wait 24 hours ---> Sealant top coat ---> Wait 24 hours ---> Done. So far I have chosen Tamiya Gray Primer and Tamiya Bright Mica Red with Tamiya Semi-gloss top coat to complete the look for the shoulderpad. I don't think this is quite right since the pictures of the real deal look more like a blood red, but I'm not really sure. I haven't thought about how to do the weathering exactly, but I have also considered just painting the other armor pieces red or maybe even black to give it kind of a blood sucker vibe (though I think the blood suckers only had rifles, which made little sense). I don't feel like I'm risking all that much fooling around with a V1's armor parts, but I still want to be careful. If I do royally screw up, does anyone know if I can remove all the primer and paint and top coat without injuring the plastic? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

If you miss the preorder, are there usually units available at launch? Every release selling out in 3 minutes would seem to suggest that producing more is a good idea unless the preorder is only a small part of the launch.
  12. Hey guys, I didn't pre-order this as I was only vaguely aware it was coming out. I have never tried to get a Bandai DX release and am still pretty new to Macross collecting, though thanks to MW and Anymoon I am learning quickly. My question is: Is this item ever going to restock? Do Bandai DX Chogokin releases usually restock? I don't have any Bandai valks yet, but I trust Bandai to deliver in general. From my experience with other Bandai product lines Bandai loves re-issues / re-releases so should I just wait for the "renewal" or try to snag one now? Thanks!
  13. Got my first valkyrie yesterday, one of the Yamato 1/60 V2's. I must say I was surprised at how good it was. I was expecting it to be pretty good, like maybe a step or two above Robot Spirits, but this is probably one of the nicest collectibles I own. The tampo printing was very sharp, there were lots of clicky joints and the transformation was quite intricate. This isn't just a feat of engineering; it's a work of art. I really like the minimalist vibe it has and, for a robot, it feels kinda classy. The only 'problem' now is that I'm starting to wonder what the point of 1/48 is. The 1/60 is plenty big for my taste and from what I've read the 1/48 isn't quite as polished. I also can't seem to find the 1/48 I was looking for on sale in North America so maybe it's for the best. Maybe the Arcadia GBP set instead? Not so sure how much articulation is possible with the armor, but I don't have a VF-1J yet.
  14. Hello, I am pretty new to Macross, but I have been welcomed by people here. MW seems like a pretty chill community and everyone I have talked to has been helpful so thanks guys for that. I plan to collect most/all of Hi Metal R since it seems to include the Zentradi (Glaug!) and the Destroids, but I want to get a 1/48 centerpiece for my soon-to-be Macross shelf. The specific one I picked was this: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10111389 This was the 2010 re-release of the DYRL VF-1S in Hikaru Ichijo's colors. I have been scouring the web looking for this thing and trying to find out more about it. So my question is this: Has anyone here seen one in person in the US? Like, held it in their hands because it exists and can be touched. If this valk was limited to a run of 250 or something like that I may have to rethink which 1/48 will "anchor" that shelf. The other V2 DYRL Hikaru VF-1S I was looking at was released in 2008 and had fiery box art. I am still not entirely sure if there are any major differences between the two so any first hand knowledge on that subject would be appreciated. From what I understand the 1/48 scale has been more or less abandoned with the standardization of 1/60 so I'm hoping the search will be relatively short and painless. This was one of the last 1/48 Yamato valks released so I think it includes all of the durability upgrades and extra detail/paint and, as dumb as it sounds, I like the box art. There are a couple on Ebay, but they are using the same photo of the box and will not respond to any questions. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
