  1. Unlike the other times I waited for the subs for this ep before watching it, and I got to say I'm really loving it. The song really made the episode for me.
  2. 3% sounds like it will be good overall to me. Would be great if this is done by the 6th episode since they technically could represent the trend for the rest of the first half of the season. I'd rather shoot for 4.6 though that's highly unlikely.
  3. Looks that way, in the greater Tokyo area atleast which this ratings spread looks like it's from. Granted shows rated above and below it was only 0.1 of a point off either way so they're all relatively neck-to-neck. We'll have a better idea as time goes by by the drop offs or climbs in the stats that's sure to happen.
  4. I know that this is still early days with only 5 episodes out so far, but how does the popularity of Frontier compare to the overall popularity of Mac7 back in it's heady days? I know it was popular but how high was it compared to the other shows at the time. That could help explain the large M1 demographic of the ratings spread.
  5. Depends. Has Code Geass always been in the Sunday timeslot? That could account for it. People tend to rather go out and do something on their weekends rather than stay home before starting their mon-fri daily grind. I'm mystified by a rerun taking the top spot as well. Then again I'm heavily biased against Prince of Tennis. Subsequent ratings spread for ep 3-4 will be interesting. If the numbers keeps up they could represent the core viewers for the first half of the season.
  6. Not too much of a fuss really, unless you already had a ticket you'd most probably find yourself in the same spot I was since all the tickets had already been sold out the day before. I had to stand outside and peek over the 2 metre high barracades during the event. Couldn't see anything except the large screen above the stage which was fortunate since I could get an advance peek at the OP and Kawamori presenting the show. Could hear everything fine though not much use due to since I only could understand every 10 or so words. The gist of his speech to my understanding was that it was a project that was a long time in coming and he's very proud of it and proud to show a sneak peek of the OP of the show. Also introduced May'N and Megumi who plays pivotal roles in the show. I must have missed some important info as well which was why I wanted to compare notes to someone who managed to make it to this and the event at his Satelight booth. Did you manage to catch any of the Macross events held at the Satelight booth at least? They had one every 1 1/2 to 2 hours after the concert till the close of the Fair.
  7. Yes it was, just... not to such a.... dramatic degree... Alto was right about the guys....
  8. Patience and keep trying. They're updating and are becoming avaliable one by one in order.
  9. Nice, kresphy. Not all the links seem to be working as of yet but they are slowly turning up. I'm kinda surprised too since I thought that the ep was broadcasting as of now.
  10. Ditto. Please elaborate Duke. It's not some gang speak is it?
  11. Sounds like I've got to track down a copy of that mag. It's rare to see Kawamori anything but reserved and polite in pics or interviews, so him being excited is a real plus in my opinion. And I agree with you with the toy mags and I blame the huge Gundam Fix range they keep releasing. I've walked into a toy store in Japan and have been surprised that they took up an entire shelf stand. Though there was a time in the past when I was excited to see a model mag with nothing but Gundams in it. Granted that was when Gundam Sentinel first hit the scene, and in my opinion the only Gundam design worth a damn, but I've since cooled off dramatically.
  12. Hmm... I get the feeling that Bandai is taking a wait and see attitude with Frontier before commiting with their products. While not surprising from them since the series doesn't feature a Gundam, though I wonder what else are they going to do now especially now that 00 is finished for now. You'd think they'd make a push with Macross since it'd keep their cash income going. Speaking of which, was there anyone else here who attended Tokyo Anime Fair for the Macross event? I remember some one else here mentioned that he might make it at the time. Bentene70 I think it was? It'd be good to compare notes, especially since I not only missed out on the event, tickets were all sold out by the time I got there, my hold of Japanese is so low I could only understand 1 in every 10 words. Then there's also the Satelight booth event where Kawamori and one of the character designers Takahashi Yuuchi, I think, talked about Frontier. Granted they mainly focused on the upcoming release of Macross Chronicles but there's got to be some info gems in there.
  13. The only thing that disappointed me about the episode, and it is a minor thing since it didn't go the way I expected, was when Michael fired his grappling hook on to the colony surface. I thought "Cool! He's going to use the tension of the wire against the colony to create a solid brace for him to snipe with while hanging in space." Instead he used it to get himself on the ship's surface. Guess I can't complain too much since there most probably wouldn't be any gravity on the surface outside and he would have used the hooks to keep himself firmly planted on the surface. Like I said, minor quibble.
  14. Actually Sheryl's reason for tracking down Alto isn't for her diva-like need for publicity, which I doubt is with-in her personality anyway. Take a good look at the video that Sheryl is looking at while on the phone to Cathy about tracking down Alto. There's a clue there.
  15. I've read it. It's more than a bit silly, it's very silly. Side-story, alternative universe-ish story. I guess it depends on one's individual tastes but I found it not to mine. You're most probably better off saving your money there Graham.
  16. Ugh. Finally back. Nice to see that Frontier is in the top 10 rankings though the majority of the shows that ranked above it aren't in the 1 to 2 am in the dead of the night morning slots. Which helps, since you don't have to wake up in the dead of the night to watch it as I did while I was there. Turned me into a zombie the next morning. They also happen to be kids show as well so there's that larger market as well. So in retrospect Frontier did very well. And anything that can beat Code Geass is on to a good thing. Dled the episodes so far and Gattai seem to have the better video quality but both seem to have flaws with their subs, though AiA I-Z did have the OP songs subbed. Shinsen has just released their first episode as well and their stuff then to be solid though I've yet to check it out yet.
  17. Ok, if Macross Frontier got 2nd in ratings, what got the first place?
  18. Great, if things weren`t confusing enough already. I`m going to be in the western Japan round that time, and now I have absolutely no idea which day or time the 2nd episode is going to turn up.
  19. Do excuse me if I`m repeating some already stated opinions on this thread but I`m a bit rush for time to do a read thru. Well unlike the rest of you I only just managed to catched the 1st episode. And I`m in Japan on a holiday so some of you people should really stop complaining. I liked the OP animation though like I`ve stated before, it only really kicked into gear when the VF25 turns up and I don`t mean it fly across the screen at the start. When we see it on the elevator shades of the old SDFM OP is what really did it in for me. The biggest problem I have with the broadcast version is that our time with the characters are even shorter than what we had with the Deculture Edition. That`s a big problem since even then we really having a hard time identifying and getting to like the characters there. Now with this what seems like an abridged edition things are only worse. The saving grace is that we know they`ll have a whole season to build up the characters so maybe that isn`t that big of a problem. Still doesn`t changed the fact the Deculture edition is much better in terms of the characters. I will say one thing though, the effects are awhole lot more better, cleaned up and sleeker in the broadcast version. The contrasts are so much sharper too. Maybe this is due to the TV I was watching it on, in the dark and at 2am in the morning but it really looked that way to me. Perhaps you guys who have the two versions can better compare and clearify on this. Just look at the explosion effects as well as the reflected light effects on the red "bug" when Gilliam hits it with missiles. Great now I have to dissappear from here again for a while since I`m not sure when I`ll find some time for it again. *sigh*
  20. Well krespy just made the op avaliable, so that's part of your answer there. Really sorry it took me so long to reply but like I mentioned before I only have access online when I go to a internet cafe and I just been running around so much from place to place that I rarely have the time really. As for the description of the actual animation of the op itself, I made a short description on my previous post. I do like how the VF25 was introduced in it though, shades and homage of how the VF1 was introduced in SDFM. as for when the OP will show, no idea really since I don't remember Kawamori mentioning anything about that in the event at Tokyo Anime Fair. I do personally think that it'll show on the 2nd episode since it gives away too much even before the shows really starts if showed on the first episode.
  21. Ah her I didn`t see. I saw the other one which had shorter hair. She hosted the event at the booth with the character designer, Kawamori and the project manager for the Macross Chronicle (sorry don`t know their names and I only recognised Kawamori anyway). I think my friend may have a pic of her. I`ll have to beat it out of him but first I have to find him. Oh yeah I made a mistake with the previous post. It wasn`t May`n singing "Ai, Oboete imasu ka" but Megumi Nakajima. See what I mean about not being able to see the stage at all? Btw, the Cream Puffs? Try and get them fresh. Otherwise it`s just not that good.
  22. She`s just one of two. Both are cute though. I didn`t manage to get into the stage show as the tickets we all sold out by the time I knew about it. You have no idea how miffed about that I was. If only I have managed to get net access and checked this tread a couple of days ago I would have had a good chance with the tickets. I did the next best thing and positioned myself outside that gave me the best position of the screen above the stage and audio from the speakers. May`n did "Do you remember love" and she sounds great. Sagitarius 9pm also did "Don`t be late", full version and it really kicks it. Caught the light show but that`s it since I couldn`t see the stage. Don`t even know if there was a band there or not. But at least I managed to see the premier of the OP for Frontier since all I needed for that was the screen. Still not sold on the Triangle song, as a result the OP was OK most of the way but it really kicks into gear when the VF25 shows up. My disappointment was more than made up for at the Satelight booth event. I`ll write about it later as my time in this net booth is running out. Sorry if I don`t reply quickly after this post as I`ve got to find a cafe first to do any online browsing while I`m here. I am on my vacation you know... Sorry, no pics as I didn`t have a camera. I suck at taking pictures anyway.
  23. I think that's about some short inserted scenes in the first episode. Which brings it closer to the manga's version of the story.
