  1. This makes me wonder just how far does the cover-up goes. As of right now it seems to be instigated by Leon who seems to know much more than anyone else about the Vajra, the events of the 117th Research Fleet, the VF-27s and Ranka herself. He is certainly perfectly positioned for it being a high ranking officer of NUNs with an ear to the President whom probably is in the dark a great deal about the matter. We've also yet to figure out just where does Briare(sp?) fits into all of this.
  2. I just love the comedy in this episode, all brilliantly timed. From Sheryl screaming for her underwear just before the door slides shut to Cathy immediatly checking for wrinkles after Ozma's comment and Sheryl's laundry method of just tossing in the whole box of detergent. Btw, is it just me mis-hearing the music track or did the little green limbless creature squeeked in dispair when it lost Sheryl's underwear on the roof? And isn't anyone worried that there's a giant unattended blue winged cat that's sleeping round the Folmo mall at the start? What if it starts chewing microns?
  3. Huh. Why do I feel like trying some carrots after watching this episode?
  4. Well I was just going by the picture for that quote, I haven't had a chance to see the ep yet since I'm not on my own PC at the moment where the ep is currently waiting for me. Looks like I'm beginning to sync to the goofy fun of the series.
  5. You forgot the Saturn. That's where the original DYRL was from before it got ported to the PS1.
  6. I personally prefer mkv since that provides the best mix of audio and visual quality. And there's something nice about being able to turn off the subs. For instance the launch and fold sequence of episode 6 had more impact without the subs getting in the way. Well, looks like it's that time of the week again where we wait for the next episode, just hours away. Got to say this has been the most active thread yet, and we didn't even discuss the animation quality. Well, not much anyway. Look at those hours just ticking away.
  7. The Blu-Ray Mac Frontier's pre-order is leaps and bounds ahead of the normal DVD version as well according to another amazon.jp rankings I saw. Conclusion: That's a lot of PS3 there. I'm doing my bit for the hard sales number and have a pre-order but for the DVD version. I'm not keen on messing about with the possible region-lock that may or may not be on certain blu-rays discs.
  8. That didn't seem to affect the ratings for episode 2 & 4. The only saving grace is that it's not that far from Code Geass, and that show is on an anime afternoon primetime slot. A Sunday one, but still....
  9. The plane at the top of the picture, from that angle the design of the VF-27 reminds me of good old SR-71. And from the looks of things, it really does have built-in fold engines. That's some serious black-op type plane there.
  10. After seeing the previews to episode 8, I'm going to have to agree with you there. It's going to drop back to the low 2.0% range for 8.
  11. Finally managed to catch the ep. That was a fun episode and I'm happy to finally see Reactionary weapons used en-mass. Granted it all came from the one Monster, but that just makes it all the more awesome. Heck the muzzle blast was so massive it looked like something detonated infront of it. Also loved the fact that it's so armored it paid no mind to enemy fire which just got deflected like water on a car's bonnet. The Macross Quarter's size now makes a lot of sense now. No way it could have done what it did had it been larger.
  12. I predict episode 7 will bump it up to 2.7, and do even better on episode 8 possibily breaking the 3.0 ceiling. Anything than to have it lingering so low. It deserves better.
  13. Can't watch it right now since I've got head off on an errand. Hopefully it'd be done and ready when I get back, in half a days time.... ouch... Yeah I notice there was a distinct lack of raws when I went searching for it just now. Usually there would be up to 4 different versions avaliable by now. There's just this one at the moment.
  14. Of course. Ozma is too manly for us and threathens our musculinity, much like Roy did. Not me though, my sense of self confidence is right up there with the zentran hippo-cow farmers and the sexual harssment conviction in-waiting Captain of Macross Quarter.
  15. Unfortunately taking a close look at the previews at the end of episode 6 for episode 7, looks like the 2d animation is of the same quality as the 6th. At least they got some hot 3d space battle action to make up for it. Not too sure who did what but I'm pretty sure Nara Studios are the ones who did the better looking ones like episode 1 and 5.
  16. Might want to add the new Ranka Lee single to that list as well: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=VTCL-35029
  17. That's true, or maybe Ranka is just a really bad cook? That's probably why Ozuma got into a fight with Ranka at the start of episode 5. He knew what was coming for breakfast and need some excuse to get out of it. Too bad Ranka killed him instead with a frying pan. Or a plasma TV in the manga...
  18. Well, can someone remind me when did everyone's favorite main character bites it in Nadesico? It's been a while. That was effectively used to prove a point in that series. That said, there's more they could do with Ozuma so I don't think, or at least hope, he's going bite it just yet.
  19. Yeah, it's good to finally see the new Macross Fortress in motion. The pods launched could be long range comms with the fleet, otherwise it's a "black box recorder" that receives and records all data from the recon planes. Not being able to understand what they're saying I could only hazzard a guess. For all I know they're actually waypoint markers for the taskforce fleet to follow. I have no opinion about the relationships as of yet. I guess in a way I have the same view as Alto on the matter, it's something that hasn't cross his mind.
  20. You know even though they've sent recons ahead, the taskforce is technically is still pretty much folding into battle where the Galaxy captial ship de-folded, blind. Lacking info about enemy dispositions and size even before they fold, talk about your tactical nighmares. Unless of course they can still receive info from the scouts enroute. Do they have that capability?
  21. If by that you mean no one could be bothered to stay at home and up to watch it, I guess that's as good a reason as any other. Looking at the numbers of the other series though they all either had moderate climbs or slight drops. Frontier unfortunately is one of few that suffered the larger - 0.5 or more points drop. Uneasy is one word that comes to mind when looking at that. Hopefully it's just happenstance and things will be better on the next report. Granted not that will affect the production of Frontier that much since most of the money is to be made on DVDs. Hopefully.
  22. I'm leaning towards episode 7 for that if the result of episode 5's low was due to an non-action episode. 6 looks like the it's mostly about people getting their business in order before deploying for the conflict in episode 7.
  23. I knew there would be some kind of movement in the ratings in either direction but I didn't expect such a drop. Hopefully it'd gain back the ground it lost within the next three episodes otherwise it'll be unlikely to even top it's high of 2.6. Granted I'm basing this on TV market trends in the western markets, it might work differently there in Japan. Even in the Kantou region it's rating trends might work differently to the rest of the country's. Whatever the case, keeping fingers cross it won't lose more than it already has within that time.
