  1. The director's cut of 3 helps with some if not all of the complaints, save the CG. But hell it was the early 90s (93 I believe) CG sucked ass in general, and still many of the Alien shots were guy in suit/model work. Obviously not all, and you can tell when they try and use it. I think some of Resurrection's CG stands out just as badly, especially the water chase with the swimming aliens. I agree Aliens is awesome, I would never dispute it. I just think many people hold it as this kind of crown jewel of the series (not that you said that) and I think it gets hyped up a bit. Still I see your point, Alien gets less scary when you know when things are gonna happen. Aliens never stops having a squad of ultimate bad asses killing aliens with everything from nukes to sharp sticks. edit: your edit kills my first sentence, so nevermind on that one.
  2. Sci Fi had War of the Worlds 2 advertised the other day. Another movie gem from that network.
  3. I cant buy into 3 being worse all around than Resurrection, but it's true the end is the only really bad part of Resurrection. I just think it kinda kills the movie. I actually like 3, especially the director's cut quite a bit. I think in the scheme of the franchise the one tough as nails almost impossible to kill monster stalking and killing people works better than say....thousands of easily killed monsters killing people. On that note I'd nominate Aliens for most over rated sequel or at least over rated in that franchise. It was a good movie, but to me it was just an action flick and wasn't as gripping as Alien.
  4. No way is any of the Matrix movies bad enough to be on this list. Revolutions was great...there I said it. STV is pretty crap, I'd also toss up Alien Resurrection, and Battlefield Earth. Actually Resurrection only really started sucking at like the last 30 minutes, but it pretty much killed anything worthy that had come before it. AVP2 is also pretty lame.
  5. You'll probably see a centurion at some point but seeing as how Grayson's daughter or w/e is essentially the prototype for all cylons I'm not sure you'll see one right away. Personally, the creation of the Cylons on caprica was/is less interesting to me than how they went from machines to organic beings. Guess what, Ellen did a super job explaining that already. Caprica seems like an attempt to cash in now that the good stuff is over, nothing more. I'll wait until i can find it for free before I bother with it.
  6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fallen_(Transformers) There is some spoilery stuff for the movie on there as well, but you can still read about the origins of the character.
  7. They had those, or other versions at the live bid too. The auction catalog had them pegged at around 100k however
  8. Homeworld 2 mod http://www.battlestarmod.com/ It looks like the link is broken to their HW mod, I'll see if the I still have all the files on my comp. Edit: after a little poking around it seems you can still get the files here Here's a screeny from a while back:
  9. Well seeing as how Ellen you know...died before she discovered what she was may have a huge impact on it. At that point she remembered everything so it's likely the memory blocks and things like that weren't there. If the other 4 had died and resurrected during the series you'd probably see something similar. Also there is still some of the Ellen we saw initially. The episode where Caprica loses her baby has some pretty classic Ellen. She's more dynamic post rez but she certainly isn't completely different.
  10. It could have just as easily done without the tie in to the present day imo. Not that it was bad, just despite what Ron has said it seemed more like social commentary then needing to tie everything to a singular universe. Still the ending was strong regardless.
  11. Interesting little tid bits about the movie. Possible Leonard Nimoy voice work as well as some other snippits. Here
  12. Haha, awesome. If I had to gripe on something in the last episode it was that my main Cylon bud got like one line. He was so interesting with the Kara plot I'd have liked to see more of him towards the end.
  13. That does look pretty slick I've wanted to see some new stuff produced for a while. That Big O...whatever it is steals the show for me though.
  14. I've been here for so many years though! Sigh...I lurk most of the time anyways so I guess I can still do that lol
  15. Personally when they did it I thought Picard manuever a la ST: Nemesis...guess I'm just not Macross...y enough to connect with that.
  16. I think we could assume that the Cylons left for reasons similar to those we are aware of during the first Cylon war. Whether the 12 tribes created machine Cylons or engineered organic ones initially, the Cylons are still a creation of humanity. The Final Five also made an attempt to stop the cycle of violence when they went to the colonies to try and stop the first Cylon war. It would be a safe bet that similar, though less catastrophic events happened on Kobol. I don't think the Lords are all that important or Kobol for that matter (beyond it's role to point the way to Earth).
  17. Hera is still representative of the future of both races. She contains biological elements from BOTH. She represents something that at the time was unheard of and unthinkable, a human/cylon hybrid. She represents a union of two races that were on a course to wipe one another out. In terms of Kara and some of the other metaphysical stuff in the end I think Baltar put it best with his speech in CIC, essentially saying that it doesn't matter how or why, just that there is something greater at work. Did anyone honestly expect a complete clear cut explanation for the more mystic elements of the show? I sure didn't, getting all the answers/not leaving questions would have made the ending weak in my opinion.
  18. Chow I think Chief's reaction was somewhat expected. I think he was more or less over Cally, especially after he found out Nick wasn't his. Still think of what he went through after she died. the guy almost killed himself. So I can see him going nuts on Tori purely because she caused him so much turmoil. That's still very real even if he doesn't have any remaining feelings for her. Chief has always been a bit emotionally unstable. And yeah they were a couple on Earth before it fell but it seems like the Tigh's were the only ones to continuously be a couple. It may have been a shred of mercy/decency on Cavil's part to leave them together after he killed them or he may have had other motives for keeping them a couple. None of the other Final Five seemed to keep anything residual from their past. At first I was mentally screaming "what the F*ck are you doing chief?!" when the Cylons called trap, but in his doing so, they basically solved the "bad" Cylon problem right there. I don't think Cavil would have kept his word, the guy is a snake. So Chief's freak out probably worked in everyone's benefit.
  19. One of the best things they did in my opinion was leave the Kara thing way up in the air. They gave everyone an end but left it up to us to guess what that end might mean or how things unfold from that point. I honestly thought Bill was gonna brain himself when he said goodbye to Lee and Kara, glad he didn't though.
  20. Yeah I think there was more of Sam left than one might think. Based on his comment and the whole Kara thing in this episode especially. I have a positive outlook about what happened to them.
  21. Well I've been avoiding this thread for a week or two but now I can comment. Just a great ending, enough tied up that I'm very satisfied but enough mystery that there is still stuff to talk about. Way happier ending than I had thought it would be. Just quite pleased overall.
  22. Looking at the renders he seems decently complex (but that render isn't the best to see how everything goes together). But from a toys standpoint he's pretty weak, they probably could have just gone with bots that do it all and gotten similar results. I suppose it could be as simple as the movie(s) are huge cash cows, they take a bigger check to the bank this way.
  23. I'm not sure there is much anyone can do to make the non combining Constructicons combine. We'd have to assume that the non combining ones are able to resemble their Devastator components at all. I'd say it's safe to assume Hasbro didn't include things like Devastator's face in the cement mixer and things like that so it probably isn't likely if it's even possible at all.
  24. I actually kinda like the look of Jetfire. The Fallen has similar...."whiskers" I guess for lack of a better word and I think his render looks pretty mean. I hope they don't have Jetfire gimp around on a cane though in the movie, in a movie with giant fighting robots, that would take things too far.
  25. Bay said flashbacks only, but he's BS'd before so who knows. I know I'd like to see him actually back. I agree though, more bot time is a good thing, more megs is a good thing too. With all the new designs and characters you'd *think* that more bot development would be a given. Hopefully it's the case.
