1. The only small Minmei I know of is the 1/100 seated figure for the ARII variable VF-1D but this one is too small. Is there really another one?
2. OK my statement that "only Macross has Gerwalks" was wrong, I definitely forgot about Mospeada and Orguss, both shows have Gerwalks and they are even designated as such- even though IMO a "genuine" Gerwalk has a pointy jet nose, so the Orguss designs, despite having a similar structure, are something different in my book. Of course there are other designs from Macross and other shows that bear the Gerwalk description but I don´t like how in recent years EVERY design with a cockpit sticking out to the front and with reversed knee joints is called a Gerwalk. I do NOT regard the Monster in its usual Destroid shape a Gerwalk, and a Glaug is no Gerwalk either regardless what Kawamori is trying to tell us. It is just to distinguish the original form from the newly made-up Battoid mode - and I really don´t think the Monster or the Glaug need a battroid form at all! The F-4 Gerwalk Phantom as well as the Harrier from Zamac are just "cash-in"-designs and they came AFTER Macross (same with Mospeada but at least the Legioss is a main mecha of the show while Zamac is nothing but a line of model kits). It is funny how the Designation has become an accepted term in the anime world. I wonder where its Origins come from. A "Ger" is a thrown spear used by ancient Germans IIRC, and there is a Bird of prey named a "Gerfalke" (=falcon) in German, too. Change the "f" to "w" as a hint that the bird can walk and you have it but this is just my own interpretation. Whatever it came from, this abbrevation thing mentioned earlier in the thread must have been conjectured after the term was alreday invented, it just sounds too hilarious (but it seems to be canon!)
3. I always had a little diorama in mind with the cola vending machine, Minmay arguing with the annoying little kid and Hikaru and Roy leaning against a wall watching the scene - maybe combined with a VF-1D to have a little more substance in 1/72 scale. But wait - it has to be AFTER the cola machine went over to the guys- Roy looks cooler with the can in his hand! somehow it reminds me of a guy I once knew - we used to deliver radioactive stuff with a van and when we had a break he used to buy a can of coke then put some Vodka into it - then he went on with the driving..... 384453 Do you think you could sculpt little tiny people and make them be recognizable? 384592 Honestly, I don´t know... I´m pretty good at sculpting things and I have done some portrait paintings, but if I manage a real likeliness in this scale (or any other scale)? I doubt it but I will definitely try. Once I´m done with the Ghost (It´s all rubber blocks surrounded by LEGO walls at the moment ) I will take a few days to try - shouldn´t take too long to find out!

5. Those ideas for the bigger craft like the shuttle or the boosters in 1/200 or even in 1/1000 are very interesting and not too far-fetched I think. There is already a big line-up of 1/200s, and a "big-ship-scale" like they have with the Star Trek kits wouldn´t hurt either.
6. Well, except for the delivery date (I may need 4 weeks), no problem. I´ll custom build them for you. Is $ 2.250 OK?
7. This thread is a good idea Chad, should add a great transparency to the needs and demands of the MW modelers. The only problem is, if I take a look at your list, I want almost all of them - and if I look at my wallet there´s barely enough for one kit! Of course they won´t be all made within a year so I dare to add some more. Already on your list and "want them so badly I´d sell my warship collection to raise the money"-status (one of each): -Zentradi Tactical Scout Pod (is there a difference to a "Zentradi Scout Pod BTW?) -Destroid Cheyenne -VF-5000 Fighter -Cat´s Eye -ARMD 1/1000 -Vehicles set (and I want it to contain a Petite Cola Vending machine! ) Not yet on your list but interesting in a way that I would buy them if they were available (all 1/72): -OCTOS Destroid/Submarine -VF-9 Gerwalk fixed pose model -VF-9 Fighter fixed pose -1/72 Figure set with all the main characters for posing them in front of their Valks
8. ????? What is THIS??? I can´t even remember this little beast.... was that really in DYRL? Maybe it´s missing in the crappy "bionoids" Version I have? Fantastic!!! Abd even compatible with Ostrich boosters.
9. Real world has planes, Gundam has standing mecha but ONLY Macross has Gerwalks. I don´t know why but the first time I saw a Gerwalk I instantly realized that a Jetfighter with legs and hands just looked right. As if I had just wanted to see exactly this weird thing for all my life. It was a VF-1 of course and the resemblance to (then) contemporary fighters just helped to make it convincing for me. I can´t say that I dislike ANY VF in Gerwalk mode, it´s more the contrary, even if I´m not too convinced of a Fighter or Battroid mode of a certain VF, the Gerwalk kind of evens it out to a degree. As for the VF-9, I like it in Fighter mode but not as a Battroid. Its Gerwalk looks the most interesting of all VFs but at the same time makes me scratch my head. It does look all too cool with the raised nose but I can´t stop imagining how it might just be about to pick some bird food from the ground. The other strange thing is the VF-17 Gerwalk. Very cool design but its legs are always seen in a "bent back" position so it looks as if it was about to fall over. Don´t the lower legs have the ability to bend to the front? Can the toy really stand in this position? Maybe Graham can shed some light on this...
10. Seriously. That shuttle would be something like 64cm long in 1/72 scale; about as massive as the Monster. A kit that size would be a logistical PITA. 383225 OK that is WAY bigger than I thought! Who can handle molds this size... maybe some 1/350 battleship manufacturers (but those guys are WAAY too serious for stuff other than their ships I suppose ) , but still, this thing is not only long but wide too.... guess it´s nearly impossible to cast... and to pay the exorbitant price it would require! Even 1/144 would be BIG, maybe 1/200 is theonly way to go..
11. That one is a cool subject, the more I look at the artwork the more I like it, but at the moment all I can think is "has to be 1/72" and "1/72 - too big for me right now" - need a much bigger pressure pot for things like this and more experience of course. Still, great little shuttle. I guess it will be about the size of the Cat´s Eye or slightly bigger, so it COULD be done in this scale. With the spacious fuselage it should be hollow-cast for reduced weight and this would allow for a full interior..... including Misa and optional shield for her chair.... OK I have to quit and go on with my molds!
12. I agree. While a slightly rough outer surface is not wrong for a Zentraedi ship, I wish those "fins" or "dividers" whatever you call these grill-like-things at the rear end were thinner and more sharply shaped. All in all, it looks a little too "hand-made" in my eyes. Especially for the big size. Don´t know if I´m gonna spend my money on this one....
13. I had another architectural model to finish while I was in the middle of the mold making process. Not even well paid and more work than anticipated, but it´s finished now! Still, most of the molds for the small parts are already done, one half of the main fuselage is ready and I got all the resin and extra silicone for at least 30 kits a few days ago, so the project is well underway again.
14. The only recast I have ever seen is of the old IMAI. No changes, just big subassemblies cast as single parts. Not much poseability. I don´t think you will see a recast of Captain America´s Regult - the average recaster who wants to make a quick buck would never take the time or even be able to copy it - far too complex! I love that thing! I remember there was a thread connected to the Captain´s Regult that had images of the main markings as templates. Maybe these could help - but the IMAI pod is smaller so they should be resized.
15. That´s a cool idea HWR MKII, I bought some modeling stuff in a store this morning and noticed they now carry tons of different micro magnets. I should have bought a few dozen at once but I was so stuck to my architecture model I failed to hear them sreaming "Fast Packs"...
16. I wonder if there´s some anime magic involved in comparison to the fighter mode. Since the VF-0 is completely CGI there shouldn´t be any differences in individual parts dimensions such as leg thickness or nose length. If this is true, we could buy a VF-0 Battroid plus a -D Trainer and make an easy kitbash to get a -D. Of course I hope that Hasegawa will release the -D Battroid as well but two-seater Battroid haven´t been among their favorites so far...
17. Whoa that´s his best so far IMO. I love how they used those predominantly sky/sea colour shades in M0, it has a "deepening" effect you rarely see in anime, and Tenjin seems to have it all put into this great picture (but his VF-0S is a close second). I envy his skills! Hope there will be another artbook. The more Macross stuff Hasegawa releases the sooner it will come I guess . Can´t wait to get this kit. Once I get it I will quit sleeping to get enough time for building it.
18. I've got a small collection of Orguss stuff, that I'm slowly adding to. This is what I have now: ARII 1/48 Orgroid Gerwalk ARII 1/144 Orguss 4Type (all four of the 1/144s in one box) I've just started building my 4Type models - these are very simple, yet very cool little guys. I've more or less finished the Orgroid and Tank models - the Orgroid in 1/144 is about 3" tall! Here's a really poor picture of the Orgroid: 379955 Even with the slightly blurred picture that little Orgroid looks great Hiriyu, definitely well built. I suspected they´d look as bad as the old ARII 1/170 Valks but they seem to be well detailed and proportioned. As for the 1/48 Gerwalk, would you say it looks OK? I´ve only got a 1/48 transformable from ARII and it looks too angular and has just a bunch of ugly hinges instead of a lower torso - still, it cannot transform properly. From this experience, I sorta gave up on the ARII Orguss models and got only IMAI kits, but maybe the fixed-pose models are better... As for the small stuff, is there anyone here on MW who owns the 1/120 3-Type Nickick or even the 1/200 Set with the 2 M-Lovers and Ishkick/Ishforn? I´d love to see those built up! The 1/120s were issued as a set or separately, here iare the flyer and Gerwalk: This is the box of the 4-set in 1/200:
19. Now that the PR stuff is coming up, I remember I did a run of about 20 small Spacejets for the same guy a few years ago. I need to ask him for some pics or even better, find the one I own - where the hell did I put this thing? Maybe he´d like to offer them again, he used to sell them at PR Conventions (well basically some dozen people gathering in a small room and talking technobabble ) but I´m sure he has never considered to have them for sale on a big site like SSM! OK maybe I´ll talk to him in a few months when the Ghost is done or I´ll have him hanging on the phone all day Did you know that a few years ago there were plans to make a PR mini-series? Unfortunately, the producers did not hire ANY of the authors for the story nor the original designers for the ships/hardware, so from what I heard it sounded like some generic SciFi series with no resemblance to PR at all. Interest faded and they scrapped the project. That´s how SciFi is handled here in Germany ! The only decent movie stuff I remember coming from Germany were Wolfgang Petersen´s "Enemy Mine" and Emmerich´s "Moon 44", but these two moved on to Hollywood - guess why?
20. one Rerry Rhodan (German SciFi novel series) spaceship I´m building for its designer 379735 OMG! Dude you wouldn't believe how hard it is to get hooked up with PR in the States! Put up some images of that project and I'm sure you'll have people looking to buy a kit or 3. 379747 There are really PR fans in the States?! And I thought that was just a German/maybe European thing - I was obviously wrong . I´m no expert in these things but the ship I´m building is a 30m class Kaskaya "Class Small Corvette" called "Minor globe", scale is 1/200 and it won´t be a kit, just a one off for a friend who spends his spare time drawing these painstakingly detailed cutaway profiles that appear in the novels every 4 weeks or so. He has a Spacejet in the works, almost the same size as the lousy Revell model but about 500% more detail with cockpit interior, Hangar and everything plus completely modern looking outer design, less like the old 60s tin cans, more along the lines of NASA/2001 design. He wants (me)to make a short run resin kit of it but he is progressing very slow. And I´m not even sure those complicated parts CAN be casted that easily. We´ll see - someday I´ll post some pics of the ship I´m building in the "workbench" thread when there is more to be seen than just a ball with lots of engravings, but for obvious reasons this project is definitely taking the backseat at the moment.
21. Haha, well sort of... on my to-do-list are: an architectural model (but a small one), two planes, one Rerry Rhodan (German SciFi novel series) spaceship I´m building for its designer and I´ll soon be working on a set of heads for 1/10 tank drivers. While that´s not exactly "nothing" I still do not work fulltime on these, so, as long as it doesn´t get too busy, I think I will do all the casting for the Ghost at home. We´ll see how long I really LIKE it, the 20something castings for the Oberth didn´t bother me too much, but this time it is a lot more- not only more kits but more parts per kit as well. Still, I´m more comfortable when I do the quality control myself. Of course Gundamhead is right, it takes an awful lot of time that could be spent on a new master, but on the other hand I like the thought that I did the whole project from start to finish. It´s over when the last box is shipped -if it takes longer I know it is just my fault, but I don´t have to wait for some other guy who will put it all on top of his own to-do-list and may take even longer at the end or deliver a sloppy job because he just wants to get it out of the way quickly. Of course if I had to do this IN ADDITION to a fulltime job plus having 150 preorders like cobywan had with his Galactica (still need to get one, it is awesome) I would not hesitate to go and find a reliable caster!!
22. OMG over 50 plus at least 2 for myself, guess I need to make 3 runs already.
23. I have a hunch that you would dig Porco Rosso and Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Beide sind im Flug fokussiert. 379303 These are exactly the two I am waiting for All the Miyazaki movies are currently getting a german dubbing. Mononoke, Spirited Away, Nausicaä, Howl´s Moving Castle and Kiki´s Delivery Service are out but the others will take some time. Miyazaki´s magic works best for me if it´s all about flying!
24. I´m not too much into anime but here and there I give some movie/series a try, but then there are a few that are superior to all live-actions things. Of all franchises I like Macross the most, more than even Star Wars or Star Trek, Macross has never failed to attract me over 23 years now and it doesn´t look this will change. Orguss rules!! Miyazaki movies are great, still haven´t seen most of them but Nausicaä and Spirited Away are among my all-time favourites. A decade ago I loved Akira and GitS but nomehow my fascination has faded a bit, though I still like Venus Wars and the Patlabor movies. The most fascinating movie I have EVER seen is definitely Wings of Honneamise (of course), there is nothing higher! Strange but timeless classic, superbly animated, no flaws even after almost 20years. Gunbuster Aim for the Top was really cool, didn´t really like Evangelion though. That´s all old stuff now that I think about it. In recent years I sat through Arjuna -beautifully animated but it soon got too preachy, Kawamori as an environmental guru... Last Exile looks great- I´ve watched the first 12 eps. and I like it, wonder when I find the time for the rest. As for Kawamori involvement, I skipped Aquarion but maybe I give Eureka 7 a go, I occasionally follow the thread here on MW and I find it quite interesting...
