  1. Your work is simply amazing. There's just so much to learn about modelmaking. Thanks for sharing your wonderful art works with us. I'll be so looking forward to how the models will turn out.
  2. This is really excellent stuff. Thanks for sharing!
  3. Cool stuff there. It seems that you like your colors bright, clean & with sharp dark contrasting linings. Very anime in nature. (reminds me of Street Fighter Zero arcade).
  4. For a newbie, the modeling skills you applied are really good. Nice to see more people sharing their works.
  5. Very Impressive. Excellent stuff you've got there!
  6. It means both the white & grey wash is too thin. Instead, try enamel silver. Even when thinned, it will stay on much better. After you've wiped off the excess, coat with flat coat & the silver will end up as grey.
  7. HWR MKII, very cool MG.Rex you have there. Will be looking forward to seeing more kits from you.
  8. Good works there Mechmaster. But I noticed seamlines on the kits. Might want to take note of that.
  9. Cool dude. How did you make the pilot do the thumbs up? Just take note, both seamlines for both fastpacks can still be seen.
  10. Oh, what I meant was more details such as panel lining & such. Given the size of the Destory, the arms are pretty big with lots of space for extra details & accessories. Think Metal Gear Rex.
  11. Cool dude. A little more details would have been better. More great kits man!
  12. My photography setup is very similar to this 2-part FAQs. Part 1 http://wired-wolf.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=336 Part 2 http://wired-wolf.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=337 Hopes it helps.
  13. To Less than Super Ostrich : Yup, it's the Hasegawa Battroid 1:72. To HWR MKII : I make the surface as smooth as possible, ie as glossy as possible. Then did a wash method with diluted enamel black. To nightmareB4macross : I felt that the Skull would add more depth to the otherwise bland area. (you were spot on HWR MKII!) To Grayson72 : It's just Preshading. Cover the whole kit in dark Grey. Then preshade with white using an airbrush with a low pressure (psi). Thanx for all comments. I'll bear them in mind esp regarding the shading sections.
  14. Yup. Friends of mine who don't understand anime thinks it's just a cartoon like any others. I've given up trying to explain my view on anime on them. These days, if I hear someone mention that it's childish or anything like that, I just smile & say "whatever."
  15. One of my older works. This is the VF-1J, the robot that captured my heart in Macross since I was in Kindergarden. Nothing fancy here, just out of the box. Btw, I noticed that there're very few postings of finished model kits lately. I hope that more people can post pics of their finished kits so that we all can learn from each other. Any comments are welcomed.
  16. Dude, if it's the matt (flat) clear coat, that means that you applied too much clear coat in a single layer. It happened to me before. I sprayed too much flat clear coat at one time but the white effects will only appear when it has dried.
  17. Hi Ido... Don't have many pics. Here're some of the better ones. btw, the strike VF-1 was one of the harder macross kit IMO.
  18. Ido, I forgot to mention one thing. I did quite a lot of kits to have today's skill because I started from Zero & learnt most of the stuff myself. 8 years ago, I had no Internet access & no one around me had even heard of mecha models. But with today's modelling forums & hobby magazines, I believe the rate to improving modelling skills can be shortened by a lot lot lot. (Assuming you practise.) Screwed up a kit? Just pose some pics & help is on the way. Want to know what is the Wash method? Just check the threads. Fact that you can do decals & all that stuff with only 2 plane kits is itself pretty remarkable. Kudos
  19. Hi Ido, hope these helps. Ans 1) I did about eight 1:100 Gundams & four 1:144 Gundams. Then 3 Battroids before I reached this standard to do the Strike VF-1. (See pic). These are the kits which I did professionally. I also screwed up countless kits previously when I was much younger before I decided to go pro. Ans2) No gloves. I only handle them when fully dried so there'll be no prints of any kind. Lacquer dries really fast so there's no worries for me. If you do leave prints, it means it's not dried yet or you could have sweaty palms. I always wash my hands with soap & dry them completely before touching the pieces. Maybe you'll like to elaborate more. Ans3) I use a small duster that has very long soft bristles like the ones woman use to brush their makeup on their faces. The softness of the bristles will cause minimal harm. Or use the soft cloth that usually comes with a new pair of spectacles. Ans4) It depends on what you want. If you want to learn preshading, I recommend you try it on a gundam since it has lots of space to work on. VF-1 is panel line crazy, not for preshade learning unless you're more experienced. (My strike is done with preshade) Then again if you really like VF-1 & want to make it, then do so. Like I said, it depends on what you want. Since you feel you can do a decent kit, just do it. It is after all your own journey. Good luck :-)
  20. Remember to spray the flat clear coat AFTER you're done with everything including decalling. It should be the final step. And DON'T EVER mix the flat clear coat into the gloss paint thinking that it will flatten out the paint.
  21. Neat stuff. To think it's now a decal on the Minmey Special Battroid.
  22. Nope, it isn't cannon. Figured it out myself. The thing about Battroids is that it's very hard to modify because the design of the robot makes it so. Unlike Gundams, Battroids are less human shaped & their body segments are so fixed. Take for instance the knee to ankle part. The whole piece is filled with panel lines & that's all. The feet is a thruster itself. Modify that into a more human feet (like gundam) & the whole thing looks out of place. I've been thinking about ways to modify a Battroid such that it looks very different but still retain the Macross feel. Macross 2, Lovers Again is the best way to explain my vision.
  23. One more angle pic. By the way, is it ok to delete the pics from hard drive once I have uploaded them into the forum?
