That's the thing about this upcoming Mangle crap about their Macross boxset. Are they gonna use the newer/updated R2-versions or are they just gonna re-package the old crap. My guess is they're just gonna repackage their old crap. --treatment--

I dunno, guys. I still like the Metal Siren in M-II. It's basically a Gundam (without the gundam-head of course) in Macross. And it kicked so much ass. It even have that pseudo-supersaijin energy-blast crap. How fun and kewl was that? hehehe

Yup. 14 is quite young. I quite like fanservices. I enjoy the fanservices in Chobits and Mahoromatic because it adds to the story and theme of the respective series. Mylene's fan-servicing basically just doesn't add anything to M7's plot or theme. It ain't even a good fanservicing. It's just a cheap hack to portray and fanserviced a 14yo mixed-race girl, imho. Rex and Sivil were fanserviced quite ok and were kinda pertinent to Basara's character-growth. Heck! Even Miria's fanservice was done good for hilarity-purposes.

ok. I got mine today from TwinMoons. Thanx, Tam! A couple of things to comment about it. [*] Yes, there is that "gap" when I took the toy out of the box. However, it's very very minor. IMHO, only the most anal perfectionist who will display this Hikaru-1S in _valkyrie fighter mode_ (i.e. jet) will be the ones bothered with this "gap". I always preferred to display my Valks in Battroid-mode and this Hikaru-1S definitely screams battroid-mode. [*] The air-break is as loose as my Hikaru-1A. Meaning, it's the same regular stuff. Other than that, the toy is tight. here are a couple of posed shots i took. (sorry, bad lighting in my room atm). Hikaru-1S quarter-side view Hikaru-1S frontal view Oh, yeah. Why does Macross-II and Orguss-02 have to fit some sort of continuity-box before it can be watched and enjoyed with? I mean, Macross Plus does not really have any other continuity-stuff with either the TV-series or DYRL, other than a rather irrelevant timeline-sequence. Yet, Macross Plus is still a premiere-class anime. --treatment--

First of all, we need to establish that MII follows DYRL and not TV-series, so the Supervision Army angle can be completely thrown out altogether since there was never a mention of SA in DYRL. There was never any mention nor hint of zentran-"Creation" by the Marduk in MII, nor was there any mention of Zentran attack on the Marduk. There was also no direct mention of the Marduk capture of Zentrans. However, it was strongly hinted (imho) within Ishtar's monologue that the Marduk somehow possessed Zentraedi warriors, even tho the Marduk was already a warrior-race as established by Ishtar. Here are the M-II sorted screen-caps links I did: Marduk's a warrior race. Ishtar's not a Meltran Controling the Zentrans Usage of Zentran by the Marduk Enhancing the Zentrans instincts Zentrans impelled to fight for the Marduk As per the dialogue-sequence of the pics above, it can be strongly inferred that some rogue Zentraedi-faction were captured by the Marduks somehow. So, is the Marduk the Protoculture then? Nope. The Protoculture race were all basically extinct way before the events of DYRL. The Marduk was just basically an altogether different warrior-class race who just happen to possess and use Zentran warriors as cannon-fodder, and who prolly uses Meltrans as emulators. Quite a clever take on DYRL stuff, actually. Afaic, MII as a parallel-story independent-sequel to DYRL. Just watch it and enjoy it as such.

Nope. There are no noticeable overlay nor any overlay side-effects on this movie, unlike the original vhs and first dvd-volumes of the TV-series. The video and the transfer are very sharp and very good. --trreatment--

Well, I enjoyed Macross-II better than I enjoyed the whole Macross 7 series (tv/movie/ova). Sure, MII fraked up the so-called "continuity", but that was never a problem with me. We're all exposed to Robotech's version of Macross prior to MII, anyway, so why griped about it. DYRL was not a viable option back then like it is now these days. The VF-2 mechas and action-sequence in MII was pretty kewl. Most of the character-designs of Mikimoto in MII were mediocre, except for Ishtar. Ishtar was just a really kewl anime-babe. The only bad thing I can say about it is that I completely hate the english-dubbing of Macross-II.

You forgot to add "In My Opinion" since there's no evidence one way or the other. Well if he can come up with that quote he said he heard, he might have something. I believe they were intended to fill out the SA role (from what little there was to go off of from SDF Macross and before the Protodevlin stuff all came out in M7).
