I was going to share images of my little Macross display but I can't even remotely compete with that lol

You are on the right forum. Post away!

So I put together my new display case yesterday. I measured the thickness of the glass shelves and my digital calipers read 5.71mm, so about 6mm. Is that still doable?

I can do that. If you are ready, go through the process of ordering what you want on www.yetistand.com. Than just leave a note in your order about changing the detlof mount to fit the 5.71mm shelf. Do you want me to do 5.85mm, or 6mm just to be safe and not too snug?

  3. Totally do-able. I am pretty bummed that Glowforge didn't work out. The whole point of offering laser etching was to be able to do it on the fly per customers requests. Delta seems like a no brainer etching to go with. Maybe I will put a GI in the for sale thread and see how many people would buy a batch. Pre-pay, and I will ship when they come in from vendor.

  4. Just as an update, I have everything back in stock except the Alpha stands. I am still looking for an alternative vendor to cut the 9mm acrylic, and it is proving less common than I thought.

It was sitting there undisturbed for a couple of months. I came home earlier today and saw that my VF-19 was pointing upwards and saw the break. Must have happened while I was out.

Sound booster does add a lot of weight to the VF-19 backside so I was probably pushing my luck with it.

That sucks. I will alter the adapter to help support the weight.

  6. Transformed my VF-11b from a year long stint in fighter mode. The thigh swivels were very loose. Looser than I recall. So loose, in fact, that it could not stand in gerwalk on my desk.

The fix ended up being simpler than I would have thought.

There is only one screw on each leg that needs to be removed in order to access the hip swivel.

The 2 halves of the thigh come off after removing the one screw. There are some plastic pegs for alignment, but they were not glued on mine. YMMV. There is also a small ratchet component, and a metal pin to keep track of.

The mushroom peg has a black cap made out of soft plastic. To tighten the swivel, I packed the cap with a small square of cut paper towel. All told, while jamming it into the cap, it is probably folded onto itself making it 2 layers of paper towel.

Same procedure on both sides, and now my VF-11b can hold a pose without drooping to the ground.

Hopefully this helps at least one other person. Happy New Year!

Hi guys, does anyone know how to disassemble the rear landing gear wheels? How feasible is it to replace the rear wheels with customised, larger diameter wheels?

You could do that through 3d printing new parts, and possible sourcing larger diameter wheels, but you would also have to replace the kneecaps. I don't think anything larger would fit in the current kneecaps.
