I figure they might just be going pure premium release so as to not compete with themselves, like they ended up doing with the Max&Milia releases. Especially with Bandai now making VF-1 figures as well.

I would hope so.  If 5000~ yen is the cost to have them make the toy right the first time, then so be it.  It's a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things.

  2. So this is something that I have wanted to do for some time now and I finally have the space to set up a work table and put some models together.  I found this thread from 10 years ago and people were recommending the ARII 1/100 and Bandai 1/144 kits because they were inexpensive and beginner friendly.  Are these the kits people were referring to?

    Arii 1/100 VF-1S

    Arii 1/00 VF-1D

I was also wondering if anyone had any newer or additional suggestions.  How are the 1/100 wave kits?  Should I just dive into a 1/72 Hasegawa kit?  Are there any non Macross kits you recommend?

    Thanks for the info.

Possibly yes. Now that I have three of these big beauties I'm liking and finding them quite a bit more exciting toy than the 1:60 v2..

Will give things a little more thought of course..

And while I'm here, here's a photo of my three on display!

Looks great, but you forgot the antenna. :p Definitely the best VF-1 toy so far.  I think things will have to develop more before I start thinking about selling some of my 1/60's but I am excited to see where this goes.

I was playing around with my 1/60 VF-1J Hikaru and this new DX VF-1J comparing them a bit.  I only had two nit picky problems.  One being the the stabilizers on the legs can get bumped to easily.  The Arcadia method locks them in better.  The second being the gap on the backpack when you fold the flap down for gerwalk and batroid mode.  It's just a small detail that the Arcadia toy solves so easily and that Bandai seems to have just over looked.

  4. Mine came today and I got to play around with it for a bit.  It's a really nice toy.  Just like others have said, it's basically a 1/60 V2 Yamato at 1/48 scale with some Bandia flair.

I'm really interested to see what they do with this line and I'm a bit worried for Arcadia.  If Bandia starts pumping out other variations with super strike parts and so on, I'm not sure Arcadia will be able to compete with what is their bread and butter VF-1 toy.

I take it that your waiting for updated news on the SV-51 sometime next month?

Maybe I will be more excited about the SV-51 when more information comes around but at the moment I'm not really interested.

I'm still dreaming about my VF-4 Hikaru...

Anyone else still waiting for NY to ship theirs out?

I paid the extra shipping cost and it’s been “in progress” ever since.

I had the same problem.  Figures after I defended them earlier in this thread... <_<

It had been in "Waiting for Customer Reply" ever since the additional payment was sent out.  I made a ticket and updated it a few times.  Finally today they moved it to "preparation in progress".  Maybe they shipped a bunch out before going on break for the holidays and are now just getting back and catching up.  Make a ticket if you have not yet.

Edit: Well it seems you already have.  I was going to try and call them today if I did not hear from them or if my status did not change.  Thankfully it did so I don't have to deal with international calls.

  7. I have bought many valks through NY, and while they do increase the price after preorders, at least you can still purchase your desired valk most of time if you miss it.  They push their stuff through shipping fast, package things well, and you don't have to deal with any possible shenanigans from ebay sellers.  I think they do a good job and make buying these toys super easy.  Have you all forgotten about the old days already?

Yup.  That's what stopped me and Talos from doing a translation of Macross the First.

I'm a decent-enough translator, but my Photoshop-fu is embarrassingly weak.

You just make a text translation and post it here on the forums.  No need to fill in text bubbles, post it on every shitty manga aggregate website for the whole world to forever pirate and steal.  Text translations are the best thing that you could do for something like this.  It would build a community and encourage people to support the serialization.

    Anyway...

Are they releasing new updated volumes yet?  I cant seem to find anything besides the old 6 volumes.

  9. Well, fudge. Here is something to look out for. It looks like the plastic side of the hip ball joint was glued in place. I couldn't get him to splay his legs in battroid mod. After trying to work the joint, the leg came off. You can see that the square peg hole is worn, meaning that end of the ball wasn't turning. We'll see what AmiAmi says, but it looks like I will be doing surgery.

    DISASTER!

Glad you were able to get it fixed. That hip joint scares me.

    Here's my review of Shin's VF-0A.

Nice video. That ruler you busted out had me cracking up. I think I just tossed two of them recently that I had since I was in elementary school or something.
