Hello all,

the animeigo 3 DVD box set is on special I guess for X-mas for $120. I have had the Robotech DVD for awhile. Is the Macross version worth to get? Is the story that much more clear? Is the quality better compared to the Robotech DVDs? Sorry if this is a re-post.

SDF Macross > Robotech

I suggest you pick them up. If your a fan of the first part of Robotech, you will love the origional SDF Macross.

My favorite mission so far has been the 'party crashers' mission where you help Mr Hunter and save Ms Minmay.  If your a macross/tech fan you will enjoy the game

Which reminds me... the game won't let you assassinate Minmay in the next level(when "Rick Hunter" orders you to fly her to her concert). She's $#@%ing bullet-proof.

Another mission that drove me nuts was the 'deadly stom' one where you have to save the green valk girl. I dont remember her name so im going to call her missy. The bitch you have to fight is hard so much transforming and button pushing for like 20 minutes, only to die and do it again, hurts my hands. Still have not beaten it

Game is ok, still playing it on Xbox

Pros:

-Lots of Valks and color schemes

-graphics look nice, I like the Cartoon look

-Lots of cheats to unlock valks/colors/missions( this way if you get stuck you can play another )

-Lots of missions

Cons:

-Protecting things sucks

-Movement is bad(turning)

-controls(trying to fly, shoot, and select a target may require a 3rd thumb)

-Game is almost TOO DAMN HARD

-even with the 1 shot kill cheat I was still not able to complete the first 'protect the cats eye mission'

-Did I mention this is really hard?

I just got my frist 1/48 VF-1A and its pretty cool. The only thing I dont like about them are the hands, the dont seem to hold the gun pod to well I will probly get a Roy when they come out

Maybe its that they weren't concerned with humanity at all, they were just making sure that they didn't accidentally create another army that would go after them.

Bingo. As far as the PC is concerned, humans can slaughter each other as much as they like, but once they threaten to extend their conflicts into the rest of the galaxy, they need to be stopped. (Rewatch the AFOS's quizzing of Sara, around 17 minutes into the episode.)

I'm not saying that the Macross should have instantly triggered a response, but if APHOS is there to pass judgement on humanity's progress and it's connected to the Wind Priestesses, shouldn't the APHOS have sensed that humanity was going down the tubes quite quickly, thanks to the UN/Anti-UN global conflict, and that the end game was fast approaching?

Somewhere in the OAV, somebody says that the head and the body have been getting closer to each other over the years, whenever there's too much fighting.

It just seems off to me that the barometer for the doomsday machine is on a far flung island in the middle of nowhwere.  To me its like the PC drew a line in the sand and said "you can blow everything up on this planet, but not THIS ISLAND; that would be bad...oh, and don't kill the priestesses' boyfriend."

As others have said, the AFOS isn't programmed to make decisions completely on its own. Responsibility for the ultimate decision and judgment has been passed down in Sara's family through the aeons. Notice that Mao says at one point that the AFOS doesn't really want to kill everyone (and she seems to have some insight due to the blood transfusion and the rebirth ritual). Sara is possessed by the AFOS in the sense that she no longer sees things through human eyes, but it's still her, and her emotions, that are guiding the AFOS's actions.

I agree with all of this and to me it makes sense. It really is a good story because it shows how the people on earth, protoculture, and the zentradi are all related, which they touch on in SDF Macross but never explain it all. I like Zero. But the end when shin flys away just confuses me. It seems they went with the happy ending instead of a more realistic and tragic ending. To me shin would have been a great hero if he did die in the end to save earth.

Thanks. The one thing I didnt like about the pictures( what few I have seen ) is how the arm seemed to cover half the Valk and hide it

Are the Yamato Macross Display Stands worth the money? They look interesting but Im not sure if I want to spend 40$ on a plastic P.O.S.

I got an itch too for one.

eNeS what one did you decide on? The DYRL one looks sweet in those pics on Valk Trader, but I also like the Super VF- 1J because its from the series.

Im a new member to these forums but I have been reading them for a while now. This thread brought me here a few months ago when I was going to buy my SDF Macross DVD's. The SDF Macross boxs are really nice. It was cool to see how you guys put them together, good work. Now I am wondering if you can still buy the SDF Macross boxes. If you dont know I guess I can still e-mail Champagne.

Also this Box looks hot. It would be a shame if it does not get made after all of your work.
