  1. It's a good thing I checked back here! What great news! When I asked about this 10 years ago my wife and I both had a job and it was about $500 then :^) Stupid infaltion! Depending on start time and cost, might just go for it! - MT
  2. I still think big is sexy - at least in this case. I'm looking forward to this. I'll just have to buy it for my son so we can build it together - then keep it in my area ;^) - MT
  3. Looking great guys! Macross - making physics phun again! - MT
  4. Thanks for the feedback! When I get back to civilization, 3D printing is something to consider. I hope all goes well with the casting! - MT
  5. Those look great man!!! The 3D prototyping process is really cool. Your artwork looks great finalized. If yo don't mind me asking, what do they charge for a protoype of the smaller vehicles in 1/100 size? I've thought of doing some 3D prototyping before, but way back then it was really expensive. You know, now you REALLY have to come through! Guys have been waiting years to get these vehicles! Even the Imai ones were unaccurate for 1/100 scale. I wish you the best of success with your project! - MT
  6. I've got decals over twenty years old (and yes I still use them from time to time). Just keep everything sealed, out of the light, and outa sight and you should be fine. I occasionalyl look at my old kits that SOMEDAY I WILL BUILD (really), just not today Some of my kits are also 20+ years old and there are no problems with them either. The stuff I had sitting out on my shelves, some of it you could never tell it was white! Like TSP said, keep it shut. There's nothing like that "new kit smell!" - MT
  7. Grapeape, the Spartan is a nice kit regardless of it's age. I built one and thought it was cool. The whole cannon array popping out of the chest is cool too! I'm looking forward to these releases. If anybody sees some early bird specials or has some intel on when these will be available, please share! - MT
  8. Great work Captain! I don't often get time to pop into MW, but this was worth it! Yuor ship is coming along great! So you're back to Ren board and off MDF? Just curious, what grade of Ren are you using and what putty? When I get back to civilization (and my shop) in a few months, I'm starting back up on building. - MT
  9. Yeah, I think I would build a new room just to decorate it with these and my other goodies. Then I would officially open it up as a museum, seek tax shelter, and charge entry fees (one old Arii kit each ;^) for building up the display cases. An additional fee would be charged for those that drool on the floor! - MT
  10. Nice work everybody! That FMMF is a gem! - MT
  11. Your work looks great so far. That would be cool to be built in a larger scale with valkls on it! Keep up the great work. - MT
  12. That looks great MJ! I believe the lighter color looks better too, really nice detail work! - MT
  13. Wow!!! I haven't been able to get on here lately, but this helps make up for it! Excellent work Ron! I can still se my house from here! - MT
  14. I haven't been able to get here in a while, but good timing to get here and see this great work! Nice job Yeti! Not my scale, but great work all the same! - MT
  15. I'm playing catchup...The mod looks great! Now you just need to find a BIG - good home for it! - MT
  16. I finally was able to stay long enough on line to see this build. Great job and very educational for those just starting! This is big enough to be a lunchbox like I was saying in the buildup for the master. Just put a handle on it Keep up the great work! - MT
  17. My advice is to cut out cross sections in styrene (thin sheet) and then fill them in with clay. The plastic will keep your parts even and when the clay is dry you can easily seperate the pieces. You can then either mold the pieces out of resin or use the clay pieces (if smooth) to directly vacuform your parts from styrene sheet which you can easily do at home. Just my two cents, - MT
  18. Awesome work Ron, you are really getting out of hand man! Hey wait, I think I can see my house in there! - MT
  19. Everyone's work looks great! Lot's of creativity and the usual awesome talent on these boards! I work, go to dinner, go home and shower, then sleep. I squeeze this and Skyping my wife in there some place. It's good to vicariously live out the hobby throught you guys - MT
  20. I saw the title and thought and thought you stuck a sound chip in it or something All the same, ,the kit DOES look great! - MT
  21. Cool idea for a diorama and well executed! Oweeee, right through the temples! - MT
  22. OK, my netbook's monitor is jacked up right now (probably loose cable) and this DIORAMA still looks awesome! So like who's going to mass produce this for us Macross fanatics!? - MT
  23. Thank you very much guys!!! I'm actually home a few days from my training course before I head out to my job site for a while again. My school had internet, but it was so bogged down, I could see this website! Anyhow, you know I am going to finish this project! I'm actually bringing some small parts with me to work on at night when I'm chilling out. Take care guys, and I'll keep up as electronically posssible! - MT
  24. I don't have much time to post right now, but I just had to pop in and say AWESOME job! Oh the thoughts of what might have really been... - MT
  25. Thanks Flak for the compliments, I really appreciate it! UPDATE 14 June 2010 Well everyone, this weekend my employer is sending me off on special assignment for most of a year. That means no work on the Daedalus for a long time. I WILL, however, be bringing my small model building kit and some plastic to make either more vehicles or an aircraft that's Macross related. The good news is I should still I just finished putting together one of the ultimate modeler's tool, a CNC router. Here's some photos: I purchased a blank metal case and the rest is all purchased gear pieced together. The routing table is a K2 CNC #KT-2514 (k2cnc.com) and the electronics are from DMM Electronics http://www.dmm-tech.com/Dyn2-Driver.html They are AC servos so they are quiet, need no belts and have no brushes to replace. Both companies have EXCELLENT customer service by the way. The downside, I just finished it and have to go away for a while! Oh well... When I get back I hope to get on with paneling the hanger sides. Take care everyone and I'll still be on the boards sporadically. - MT
