  1. Those alphaX head looks like a mix of the vf-1s head and the vf-19 kai head, not to be negative about your work but I think it wil looks like ass in fighter/gerwalk mode.  :D

Heh... the "fin" looking thing is actually a large laser gun. I just didnt draw in the details. Hmm... maybe I should draw it from a different angle. Anyways... I was thinking of making the top canon laser moveable like the YF-19 so I dont think it'll look TOO bad. Just lots of pointy things at the bottom of the plane. <_<:p

Keep it up with new heads anyway ;)

I was thinking, if you want inspiration, you should watch in the macross zero direction, kawamori did very cool looking heads and the vf-0 has the same head position of the vf-1.

However if you want to create a Macross 7 fire bomber Vf-1 custom head.... just don't do it :p

  2. Uhm, waterslide decal must be use on on a gloss surface a need a layer of calear coat for protection, I think they just should tampoo print the marks or provide good stickers ala takatoys at least, Yamato stickers are pure trash.

However you can find aftermarket waterslide decals for yamato valks made by the MW member Anasazi or stickers made by takatoys.

  3. Ido,

    Thanks much for the help...

    That puts things into perspective.

Unfortunately, I am not able to get Macross kits here in the US (at least

not Hasegawa, anyway), as there apparently was an "issue" between

Bandai (who actually held licensing for Macross) and Hasegawa, who

apparently did NOT have a license deal with the Macross stuff, so Hasegawa

is not allowed to import their Macross kits to the US.

No big deal, as I just ordered from HLJ, but it's still

    kind of a pain.

    Jim

I think is an Harmony Gold copyright issue, Bandai don't care about Macross anymore.

HG cause a lot of problem when a Macross product must be realesed outside Japan, but there is surely someone who can explain you far better then me here. :p

  4. The magnets (rare-earth magnets to be exact - very strong, its needed since there's a bit of plastic to work through) are in the leg portion, and the steel washers are on the back of the fast pack portion so that they will become removeable after the model is built.

    Wm Cheng,

I have to admit that this is my first foray into the Macross world, so please be gentle...

Do these things "transform" into some kind of techno-robot thing, which is why you folks

refer to "heads" and "legs"? Is that what battroid mode is? Is there a movie based on this,

    maybe with English sub-titles?

Thanks again for any help (and by the way, I still have to procure one of these...tomorrow,

if I can get out of the house).

    Jim

The vf-0S is from Macross zero (5 episodes home video anime).

It can transform in Gerwalk and Battorid modes

Gerwalk is basically a fighter with legs and arms

    This is the battroid

    vf-0_battroid.gif

You can find all the pics here keep in mind that the cg model of the 0S in the site is old, watch the others version too.

  5. I didn't watched robotech when I was a child, but some years ago and I disliked it, i didn't even know about the actual original 3 animes, robotech TMS may have the Macross animations but is really "different"(worse), same thing for robotech NG and Mospeada.

Stay away from the RT DVDs. :p

  6. DYRL works well as a tv series addition, I don't think it says too much to who hasn't watched SDF Macross(not robotech), but as you said you watched it, it's rare that someone who like SDF Macross dislike DYRL, maybe you got wrong Macross and thinked it was just a war a cool mecha anime, love story and songs are very important in each Macross anime, it's an anime about love and against war in the end, not about aliens kicks human butts. Maybe of all Macross you would like better Macross zero.

I appreciate that you told us your thought about dyrl even if negative ;)

  7. DO 1/48 custom canopies  :p

I thought of that, but didn't think people would go fot the idea since you have to unglue part of the 1/48 to get the canopy on and off... if it was just a screw it'd be better.

If the canopy isn't possible, I will suggest aftermarket detailed cockpit, exhaust feets and canon size weapon set. drool...

  8. Who saw the latest episode? Man...they are killing Xenosaga episode I, they cutted some great scene on the vector ship and before, and filled them with a lot of things that have nothing to do to the original story, maybe that scene were too much for a tv series? I loved them, especially when KOSMOS kill Virgil, now Virgil is safe and go on the Elsa instead of cherekov...OMG

    Stupid cheap animation

    ps

the vector ships main cannon.... they remind me of something Macross. :p

  9. Yes low budget, is what come in my mind when i watched it, the quality is real bad, I don't like even the changes in the story, there is only one word for this series: CRAP, the games original movies are 10 times and more better, play the game and stop.

This is my opinion as Xenogears, Xenosaga and general anime fan.

  10. The lack of attention to something as remedial as giving an aircraft landing gear is almost as inane as selling the original YF-21 without gunpods.  I have loved Yamato and their efforts, but this is getting ever so slightly ridiculous...

To my knowledge, the VB-6 does not have landing gear. There's no lineart for it in the Design Works book, and every single instance of it being on the ground has it in Gerwalk or Battroid mode.

Does anyone have any information to the contrary?

Never seen VB-6 landing gears.

  11. I have a question: The Valkys of Robotech masterpiece, what's the diffenence between them and the valkys of Yamato or Bandai?

You can read the review of Bandai and Yamato here

For the "masterpieces" check this in MW http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/gunsight/gs1julaug02.pdf

Now, "mpc" veritechs are robotech american merchandise and they aren't considered Macross toy(so use the topic in other anime and sci-fi),keep in mind that being robotech toys you will not find DYRL variations (so, dyrl color schemes, strike cannon, new fastpacks color and design, new cockpit, dyrl pilot, dyrl hand, UUM-7, new vf-1a head) but only the SDF Macross design that were ripped for robotech.

You should make that who join the community know what Macross and robbotech are, near nobody read the FAQ or rules when join a forum...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we already have this. It's in the Sci-fi and Other Anime section, a pinned topic called "A Newbie's guide to the differences between MACROSS and Robotech by LEBHEAD:)!

There are people who make new topics for newbie questions even if there is a pinned topic and there is people who open topic about MPC even if there is a pinned topic etc..., correct me if I'm wrong.

What i mean is strongly suggest to a the new users who join the community to check the differences between M & r before posting in the forum. But I dubt this will ever happen. :(
