What's the price for soundwave and is it still available?
-
That looks pretty darn good. Especially if those markings are vinyl stickers! I have to say that the head looks a little too big to me though. May be the angle of the picture. I definitely like the fighter mode. Great job on the kit.
You've got to give props though, that 1/72 HCM was about as near perfect as they could've come back in the day! Sure, the nosecone is a bit bulky and the posability is pretty stiff, but it blew the old 1/55 chunky monkeys away in proportion and detailing and still has pretty great durability for a transforming toy from the early 80s. Yours looks spectacular by the way. Looks like it is in fantastic condition. I wish I could find one at a decent price.
Thanks for sharing the pics!

I am missing these threads by the Captain. Don't normally check the Think Tank section. I guess I have to change that.
I would probably be in for one of these, but can't do the NGer at the same time. I signed up for one of the NGer kits, but would love to revisit this idea sometime down the road Cap!

I'm in for one. Would like to know an ETA for payment though. For planning purposes.

Had a great transaction with Coronadlux and just wanted to give him a shout here!

Forget trying to change my mind about the recaster mentioned in this thread. Unless I hear from some original kit creators here that they are selling through that retailer, then I am 100% sure that they are a recaster. Shameless and brazen recasters who should be avoided. In fact I would get behind an effort to actively spread the word about them.
While I would still give cool8or the benefit of the doubt that he bought this kit in good faith, I don't see how you could be an active member of the modelling community here and not be suspicious when you take a look at their website.

I've got Wayne's kit at home, but I don't remember if it has the firing mode option or not. I'm pretty sure (the seller of this kit) does have a bad reputation as a big time recaster though. Anyone feel free to correct me on that if you have evidence to the contrary.
Wayne is a good guy and a talented artist, but I think he can be a bit of a hothead and jump to conclusions very quickly as well. That being said, that sure looks like his kit and I've never heard of another one being made available from another person or company. Unfortunately I believe Wayne is all but out of the kit creation business due to many of his designs being hijacked by recasters and then sold at lower prices and lower quality. This means that his former kits are no longer available from him, and that may actually (inadvertantly) help promote the sales from those recasters because there is no other source to buy from.
I do feel it is important to avoid recast kits as much as possible and to help identify recasters and their inferior products. However, I know it can be confusing and sometimes difficult to know if you are buying from a recaster. I'm pretty sure I have purchased some kits unknowingly that turned out to be recasts. Especially as there was a time when I wasn't aware of the practice and I just grabbed up any interesting anime model subjects whenever I had the chance. I wouldn't purchase those any more, but I'm sure not going to throw out the kits I do have now that I've spent money on them.
On the other tentacle, cool8or is a friendly guy as well and a great contributor to this forum. He is a quality model builder and while unfortunate, I would give him the benefit of the doubt as to whether he knew the provenance of that kit and whether or not (the seller of this kit) is a recaster or not. He just finally found a kit that he had heard of and that he wanted, and now he has produced and beautiful replica.
Maybe the mention of the source that he bought the kit from should be removed from this topic in order to not promote any further business for them. If that is done, I don't see any reason to criticize cool8or unless he were to begin trying to promote a certain recaster or the practice of recasting. Which he has not shown any sign of doing.

Payment sent!

Fantastic job on that kit! I refurb'ed one a while back. The 1/72 (which I agree is really 1/100) is not too bad of a kit. Your work shows what can be accomplished by applying a little work and some skill to that kit. Thanks for showing us your process!

PM sent about Pinky!

I would be very interested in this. 1/700 scale would be a good compromise. Smaller and more manageable than 1/350, but still compatible with a lot of model ship building supplies and accessories.

I need some of the 1/72 photo etch sets. My valks are low on DETAILS!!!!

This is quite awesome! Looks like you've got a good start. I will be watching this thread very closely. Can't wait to see it completed. Keep up the great work!

I got a tube of that GS-Hypo cement and it is a pain. It gets really stringy like the old testors tube glue. It wasn't worth the hassle for me. I just use plain old white "elmer's" glue usually. Sometimes I just brush on a coat of Future and stick the canopy in place while it's still wet. Then I'll come back a little later and brush a couple of more coats on to finish sealing the canopy to the fuselage. I'll admit, this works best on kits built with the canopy closed.

Exciting progress! Can't wait to see those pretty bits all packaged up for shipping.

Just wanted to say that my kit arrived last Thursday. Yea!!!! It looks really cool! The fuselage is one serious piece of resin!
I was hoping to do a little mini review on the boards over the weekend, but just didn't find the time. Anyway, I'll go into more detail later, but just wanted to confirm that my kit arrived.
Thanks to Jason for sticking to it and getting these kits out to us. I am excited about fitting this into my build queue.

The Hyundai toys look like they have pretty decent engineering and quality. If they had a Sonata I would pick one up!

My payment for one kit sent earlier today. I apologize for the delay. Can't wait to see the magic begin!

So sorry to hear about your family's loss. My sympathies to you and your family.
Whoah! The PO lost 10 kits! That has to be nearly a back breaker. I hope you had the packages insured or something so they aren't a complete loss. Definitely sending you good thoughts and hope for a positive change in luck as the year progresses. Like I said, I'm really looking forward to the kit and to continued cool products from your studio.
Take care,
Bill

I PMed him about 12 days ago to see about mine. He said he would be shipping mine out in a few days, but nothing yet. I always get a response when trying to contact him so communication remains OK. It's just been a long wait. I'm really looking forward to getting the kit! I haven't seen a build up yet, so hopefully it gets here quick and maybe I'll be able to do a build thread for it.

Actually I'm waiting on his info so I can send payment. Hyperion are you out there?

I'm going to jump in on this one Cap. Put me down for 1 blue crab!
-
Late reply here, but wow! I have never seen those kits before. Would love to have some of those.
Thanks DKev for sharing that link. It looks like a cool website. (I've bookmarked it for future exploration
)
I wish you best of luck on finding those kits. It might be easier to find the transformable kits and just build them permanently into the soldier mode.

Any updates? I still haven't heard anything. Hoping to get my kit delivered soon.

Hooo! Boy!
I've always been a bit "meh" about this mech. Definitely wasn't one of my favorites. But, seeing all of the kick-assery that the Captain is putting into this model is making me more and more excited to get my grubby mitts on one!
Keep up the great work Cap!
and thanks!
