1. ok so then whats this one?

    post-3216-1147655674_thumb.jpg

Dont know if its a bootleg Mospeada DVD,  but I agree box art is good.

    399494

Thats the Toynami Alpha Super Posable :)

Yes, those are Hong Kong bootelgs of Mospeada. That box art started showing up a couple of years ago so I'm pretty sure its the ADV sub.

    399495

It isn't the adv set. I belive they used the r2;s as masters. It also has the ova which is not included in that set.

  2. You can also get it here, but Ali Sama's CD Japan  site has a better price.

    http://www.animecornerstore.com/macmovdvd.html

However, the shipping costs may make up the difference, so you'll need to do some research.

    415932

    their not in stock...

Btw. I have bought twice from this store. Their very reliable and top notch service and product. First time i got 2 soundtracks, last order i got dyrl, gto(tv drama), summer snow and long vacation and a soundtrack for another drama. it arrived in less ten 3 days(once they shipped) + .

Cross your fingers. It is at 200 dpi.

Please do link save as if you want it on the hdd. Also please please try and pick up the book. In order to get a better scan of this i will need to tear out the page as it;s a thick book. I don't want to do that. lol. Anyhow it looks decent. enjoy.

Thanks for all your efforts, Ali! It is deeply appreciated. You truly are deserving of your honorific.

yw and ty for the complement.

  3. I only have the old HK dvd boot of DYRL, has anyone here purchased the Perfect Edition online somewhere from someone reputable that I can get it from? There has been talk that some eBay stores seeming selling the "Perfect" edition was only the regular version.

    415842

you can get it here. http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/(mint,complex)/de...ml?KEY=BCBA-238

there is only 1 edition to the dvd.

  4. I didn't know you could jettison the GBP. ? I agree with the notion that it would have been nice to have the valk select between stages. Then they could have limited which stages you could use the GBP, yet still let you choose it at least a little bit. They did this with the strike and fast pack on DYRL. BuuuuuuuUT, DYRL doesn't have the GBP option either - but it's okay because there is a mission where you get to wear it already incorporated into the game. DYRL over all though falls short in the aspect that almost every single solitary mission is either in outter space, or far far away from the ground. I liked the ground based missions in robotech. The valks zip around the environments nicely.

I myself, look forward to a macross for PS3. That'll be the day I splurge to buy one of those. (Or if they make Berserk...)

    414806

if your talking about the ps2 game then you need to look at your selections. YOu can go back and play a few of the missions with the GBP.

  5. I don't speak Japanese, so I'm not sure if getting this game would do me any good. I don't wanna' get stuck with a game I can't navigate through at all. I bought the BERSERK import, but that's easy to figure out... you just hack things into bits and most of the menus are in english. So can anybody tell me the scoop on this game? Much appreciated!

    loook at ign's review.

    http://ps2.ign.com/articles/456/456372p1.html

btw. to answer the original poster.

You don;'t need to know japanese to play the game. Especially if you know the story already. Hell even if you only have watched robotech you will undrestand it.

They do use some english words here and there.

i have the game and i love it(got mari's sig on it). A dear friend got this after i told er about it. She used to play battlecry like crazy until she got this and retired bc. lol.

  6. so how is this one? any good? i never saw it while i was in japan, and i dug through every store with games i could find :/

found Mac Plus for PS1 though. :)

but its controls are weak beyond description.. + it was made before analog was standard it seems :/

    415546

It is a side shooter. I liked it. Plus is hard to get used to but it has it's high points. one of which is sound track. Not your typical midi music.

  7. Well I have a HD DVD player so I'm ready for an HD version of DYRL. But knowing there will be no Region 1 DYRL release (At least I dont think so.) I will most likely have to buy a region free HD DVD player.

So put me down for yes.

    415481

we are hoping that it looks good on hd. they might have to reanimate it and add in detail etc. This seems promising though. I hope they keep the plans like this.

    http://www.engadget.com/2005/10/07/no-regi...des-for-hd-dvd/

The "DVD Forum Japan Conference 2005" is being held in Japan today, and because of the time difference, it's already over. The primary topic of the meeting was, as expected, HD DVD. Plenty of information is emerging from the conference, such as the steps towards finalizing standards that we won't bother you with (though they did announce "HD DVD-RR," a sort of HD DVD version of DVD-RAM). But one statement from Toshiba Digital Media Networks' Hisashi Yamada was particularly intriguing: "We've gotten a variety of opinions about region controls. Even in the Steering Committee, they are extremely unpopular; we decided to not put them in. HD DVD probably won't contain any region playback controls." Of course there's still that "probably" in there, but it's nice to see someone up there realizes how ridiculous DVD region codes really are.

To answer the question. I would not buy a hd-dvd player for macross dyrl etc. I already own them and the quality is good enough for what it was.

Anime is not designed for hdtv. YOU will loose alot of the budget which could be used to do additional episodes instead of doing ultra high detail. Your camera i what you draw and that takes more money and time. Do you really want 4-10 episodes of cinamaticly beautifull footage or 26-50 episodes of good story. I would rather have a good story. But that is me.

  8. Cross your fingers. It is at 200 dpi.

    414583

Thanks for the pics - cool!

    :)

    414974

anytime. here are two funny poses i thought to try on it.

    415144

Any pics with fighter mode loaded with all the missles?

    415154

i can do that. give me a few. you want the typical arrangement?

  10. I'd like a scan of the art work less the text as well.

I've got the R2 release, but a textless version of the artwork would be nice to have.

    415089

Now that's what I call hi-res! Thanks again Zinjo! :D

    415152

I'll need to scan in the passport tommarow so i'll scan it in for you. If anyone else wants it. i need emails.

  12. Can anyone that has one of these tell me if they look like they can be taken apart somewhat easily?

The reason I'm asking is that I doubt my chances of getting and exclusive Hikaru 1s for a decent price are pretty slim.

So, if I can get a Roy 1S and  Hikaru 1A, combine them and still have a spare for some type of customizing, that might end up being the better deal.

If it looks easy to do that is.

    414666

The heatshields and canopies are swappable, and I believe the numbers are stickers. So most of your problem is solved. Now if the head is on a ball joint, its just a matter of popping it off and swapping!

    414667

the head is very tight. i think you would need to open the toy more to change it.

  13. Ummm, yeah, thanks for the information guys.  I don't currently have the book so I can't scan it myself.  I was hoping someone out there has the DVD and has a scan available.  But thanks for the help, Ali and Mephisto.

Btw, I do have the Mikimoto Illustrations book but that particular pic isn't in there.  Believe me, I've already scanned all those for wallpapers.

    414598

it;s in memories. i have that book. I even got mari to sign that particular one.

  14. For cheap banpresto replacements they look ok to me. I'll probably end up getting a few.

Now this is what they should have made from the beginning.

    414626

Their pretty good for the price. I didn't have the hikaru 1s so now i have one. I didn't want to get a 1/48 of it. Can't afford it at the moment. It is in scale with the gundams and the monster^__-

  15. Does anyone have a hi-res scan of the DYRL Perfect Edition DVD cover?  I want to make that Mikimoto illustration my wallpaper but I can't find it anywhere (the scans in the DVD section of MW is missing the spine area so I can't photoshop the 2 pics without it looking funky).  Thanks in advance!

    414234

you can get it in the memories book.

    414455

Sweet but if he had that I doubt he'd be asking for a high-res scan of it.

    414491

if he buys it he can scan it.

  16. How do they compare to Banprestos? Tighter joints? Are they are direct or near-direct copy or a completly new design?

Anybody want to write a full review for Macrossworld?

    Graham

    414457

I have not seen any bandeprestos in person. I'd say this is a hybred of a few diffrent valkyries. It ha a few things which reminds me of the 1/60 yamatos. I can do a review if you wish. I'll take comparison pics and have it pose next to the monster. God it really showes how big the koeng monster is when you put this next to it.

    ps.

the shield is red. NOT black as the pics show above.

  17. i wonder if they'll release fastpacks for these little guys..... i may pick up a few for those who want em....

    409238

yeah. I saw the fast packs. Every fast pack addon kit will have a strike cannon. Even the tv ones.

  19. I am talking late 80's early 90's,  all the translation with those games are 'start', 'continue', 'end' etc. from Japanese to English, keywords only.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

What you describe isn't possible TODAY.

Back then in HK all the games were bootlegs, nobody use original cartridge. I got mine used in some street market, and they weren't hacked, just old.

No, they were hacked. It's the only way for there to have been any translation at all.

    ...

Actaully, I lie. It's possible the original games were like that.

A lot of original japanese games have the basic stuff in english. Heck, the FamiCom controls are even labelled in english(actually, all game systems since then have been).

Japan's wierd about that for some reason.

    413530

a lot of mecha games are like that. gundam etc. I have played a good amount of imports. there are a ton of games with english menus etc. macros plus game edition is practiclly english as are others.

  20. ok. that was wierd. Considering, i  have japanese snes games that work fine on my usa system.  if they have the same region chip, then it explains why it would work.

for n64, you  need an adapter to adjust the shape of it to play on a usa n64.

    That's all that's in it?

Sheesh, I'd've thought Nintendo would know better by that point.

the snes was really easy to fix. The usa sytem has 2 pegs in it which block the japanese cartridges due to their shape.

this is what i did to mine.

    http://www.gamesx.com/importmod/snescon.htm

the chip you said, only stops you from plaing pal game on ntsc systems.

I remember seeing the super adapters which allowed, all nintedo cartidges to work on a n64. from the nes onward.

Those cheated. They had NES and SNES clones inside them.

The clones ignore the lockout chip, because they don't have a matching one.

    could you play pal games?

yeah,. i added it afterwards. the ign article i read before lied!!! lol.

    413071

You can't spell ignorant without IGN, as they say. :)

I've got a dim view of the gaming media as a whole.
