I figured out that i can use media player classic to take snapshots and move frame by frame into it. Like virtual dub. pretty nice^_-

As for the Super Robot-isms.... what the 30+ g turns, the 500+kph to 0 in milliseconds stops, the zero damage done after the 25 crashed into enemy/buildings didn't make it clear enough? That's all handwavium mate.

The City ship is the same class as the City 7, however it seems much more urbanly dense than City 7. The Island Ships also have cities, but are more agrarian with forests and lakes, etc... There is a Battlefortress docked at the front as Radd points out, it is harder to see because its colors match that of the City Ship, unlike the bold white and blue of the Battle 7.

I got the same Mac II vibe. However the FAST packs reminded more of Gundam armor packs than Mac II. If you are refering to the Metal Siren, then I agree the Armor Pack is similar.

There seems to be an animation error with the VF-171 that Ozma first flies up next to.

When we first see it shortly before Ozma arrives, it seems to be missing its forearms/vertical tails and instead has some sort of cylindrical object mounted in place of the forearms (see attached screen captures).

Yet later on the forearms reappear!

At first I thought it might be a new variant, but later on after Ozma finishes talking to the pilot, the forearms magically reappear.

It will probably be fixed in the final version.

Hopefully, the missing VF-171 forearms will be added in time for when the 1st episode airs in April 2008.

Another possible mecha animation error is in the asteroid field when Ozma transforms his Armored VF-25 from Gerwalk to battroid mode. You see him transform to battroid, but then the next frame he is back in Gerwalk mode again and transformingto battroid again!

They don't. Look at the original vf1. It has a ton of thrusters all over the place. They could not animated the effects of it due to budget.

Btw. I don't belive that frontier city is any bigger then city 7. It is just that city 7 had high sky scrapers and frontier 7 is more urban and sub urban then tall city structures. Most people think it is big due to the small size of the ship in front of the city. It looks pretty small actualy. It is probably 2-400 meters wide. the docking mechanism is supposed to be 150 or so meters wide on city 7. It also does not look modular. they probably decided to not have the main battle fortress docked with the city when they created it.

I don't know why but the NUNS like NUN5 to me.

None of them. they all need to be improved.

I like the Megahouse posability the best. But the gaps in the armor in the combined mode, as pictured. Makes it seem as if the cylone is smaller then it should be. the Booths also need to expand according to the line art. If they fixed that and had a good price I would get it.

the toynamie looks too stiff. I wouldn't buy it. I like how the cylcone coveres the body like armor but everything else is mediocre,

the cm looks okay. Nothing great.

I wouldn't buy it though.

There are a series of fires in orange county. This is a Prayer/good thoughts/ best wishes for everyone who is in the area.,a big should out to the brave fire fighters who are doing their level best to not only combat the fires but are saving lives. I hope that everyone is safe and well.

I not only live in the area but i have family and friends. We can smell the smoke in our back yard, it is getting thick. I hope to god everyone is okay.

first you blast mac 7 for having fantasy elements and not conforming to your snobby views on sci-fi, babbling on about how macross could have been sci-fi or whatever, now you're babbling on about einstein and relativity? What, did you stay up late last night watching the national geographic channel?

macross 7 takes ideas from macross and runs with it.. explores it further. maybe you don't like it, that's fine. But your pseudo-intellectual ranting about physics and fanboy-ism is just whiny and confusing.. but worst of all, they're tired retreads, endless parroting of other people's more insightful and better thought out comments.

BTW, I'm not a fan of macross 7 either, I just think it sucks less than macross II... which has nearly everything you dislike about macross 7. But then, mac II is a tired retread of macross and so I guess it makes sense why you would feel so strongly about it, since you're unable to have an original thought yourself.

if I may give advice. Let it go. His opion wont' change. Magice can be explained with psionics and other things quiet easily. The base diffrence between science fiction and fantasy fiction is that science ficiton uses science as a plot device and everything is tangable due ot some sort of technobabble. It is speculative science. It does not need to be grouned in what we belive to be science. Hence you have your warp drives etc.

Magic is somthing that is spectatucalr that you cannot explain with normal means. If you take the science out of a science ficiton piece it will fall apart. You can tell alot of the same stories using magic or science. Take terminator. You can tell the entire story in a fantasy setting and still have the sory work. Which is funny.

If you want anime stories with magic there are thousands of it. Why to spoil a medium Sci Fi story which brought many people to like it because of that, with magic and fantasy. The rest of the canon macross stories have a superior grade of plausibility or realism than Macross 7, which made many people to like it because of that, and what they like was taken out from them with Macross 7. The minor thing they should have made it's treating Macross 7 as an alternative universe, if they were going to make a story for a new audience instead of a story for the original fans

high enough science can seem like magic. lol. there are alot of scifi sereis with magic elements in them. Star trek has a few of them. the Q being a primary example. Star wars has the force. etc.

i'm a big fan of macross 7 mecha, particularly the uraga escort-carriers and the battle-7. does anyone have ANY nice screenshots/lineart of them? it would be much appreciated. i'm sick of looking these up and just seeing small lineart, hoping someone has something real awesome to share.

This book has line art of the ships your looking for. Desig ascpects etc. It also has the sdf-1 and the armed ships as well.

I met the mecha designer for macross 2 at a con in los angelos a long time ago. It was when the exosquad robotech toys came out and the macross 2 comic was out in the usa. He seemed really young.

If I'm not mistaken, that's the callsign for the entire squadron, and not individual pilots in the squadron.
