Really nice job!!!
-
They look great! What are the details of the blue you used for the Max -1J?
Greg
Completely out of the box. I use Super Battroid kit, that kit came with the J head so no problems there. The withe no step stencils came from Samuel decals. All white stripes were painted, same with Millia's red Valk.

Great set you have there! I should build myself a TV VF-1A Max sometime.
Max blue is my favorite Valk, looks really nice! TV version Valkyries are nicer than movie editions, you have more types (S,J,A) and different colors. The nice thing from DYRL is the Strike!!!
Awesome job, jocastle! the edges of Millia's SUPER pack missile launchers could use a little touching up (where the gray meets the red) but the rest is clean and smooth. The decals were nicely applied, too.
GU-11 you are right about that, the missile launchers are not glued, so that will be a really fast to solve. Still need to finish some decaling in Millia and Kakizaki's one need a a lot of decaling and a wash and some clear cotes, oohh and some missiles .
The last thing to do is the pilots.
I will try to take some pics at day light tomorrow

Thats a nice build man!!!! really nice!
-
The more of it I see, the more I think of what a good idea it is to swap out bigger burner nozzles on the super parts.
Indeed looks nice, I use kotobukiya, the only problem is you need at lest 2 sets for each valk

I want pics of the Strike/Super !!!!
-
Well, almost 2,5 years later I have the time to update these topic. First of all, these "project" change a lot from the initial idea, I start with 1 model, Miria's Super Valkyrie, and it's almost finish with 3 models kits, Hikaru's Super TV version and Kakizaki's VF-1A. Well finish one model is hard, try to build 3 hasegawa's Valks is just very time consuming je je je, and if you add your first child and the build of your new house, well ...
The pictures are not of a good quality, need to take these pics at night, so the lighting is just bad, sorry and I will try to take better pics soon.
The pics:
The idea is to build the main characters Valkyries, TV version. These are Hikaru's VF-1J Battroid, Hikaru/Roy VF-1S Super Valk, Max VF-1J Super Battroid, Miria's VF-1J Super Valk and Kakizaki VF-1A, these last 2 still need some work.
Hope you like it.

Duymon, I agree with you about the Strike, always in fligt mode, but I never sawa picture a Club-M 1/48 valk is flight mode, all the pics I saw have landing gear , and for my test is to tall, both main and front landing gear, just my opion.
Cool8or: I really can't wait for your step by step build!!!
BTW I alrady pre-order 1 and 1 VF-25 too , will be a very nice XMas!!
I have curious to know how Hasegawa will perform the build of missile launches, it will make such Yamato / Clum-M with full detail or will be to build on the 1/72, I hope it guy like Yamato -
At last!!!!
IMHO the Club-M is a very nice kit (expensive too), but I don't like at all the landing gear
-
If this is just a model kit, then why is Bandai BOLDLY advertised it as VERIABLE VALKYRIE and can be transform into all three modes. This is where you are wrong my friend.
he is not wrong. All the MW modelers told you in these same threat that these bandai release will be bad, but a lot of people brought it and now are complaining.
-
well, indeed the noose looks a little off, lets wait until the final product. Hope Hasegawa don't make the same mistakes than Bandai did with the vf-1 !!!!
-
Simplemente hermoso!! Saludos desde Costa Rica!!!

IT'S AGGRAVATING. this turd should've been a QUANTUM LEAP beyond it's early-1980's predecessor. indeed, while it conveys the vague initial impression of being just that,
the obtusely Beta nature of the product sets right in first thing after assembly is complete.
truly, this is the most crassly Beta Beta-product i've ever had the personal misfortune of getting to know, and a roundly thorough tragedy.
really, Duymon, i myself would honestly like to give my copy a good solid finishing job at least, but last time i looked at the gangly mess to do so,
the first thought immediately to mind was "WHAT. THE HELL. IS THE POINT..."
well ... to many people in these thread saw these shortcomings since 2 months ago or more, since the first cad. First, these is a "model kit" and not a toy, so, a lot of difference between a Yamato and these kit. Next is Bandai treatment to real model kits in general, they almost always fail, bandai cosmo zero alpha are vey good kits, so they can be good when they want, Gundam kits are different than a real model kits so don't count, and all of us need to remember the VF-25, was good only if don't transform, so why these one will be different?
-
So please, keep that in mind when you think we're just ignorant haters. A lot of us have invested thousands of hours into this craft. When you see a lot of the people who are very skilled at this hobby voicing our concerns its because it doesn't fit your views, that's because we are particular about what we look for and need... not because we just throw hate at things irrationally.
Oohhh man you are so right!!!!!!
Best post of the entire thread!!!!
-
I think it is UGLY, it is a TOY, not a model, and is not well proportioned, it is fat as a plane, and it is very thin as battroid, it´s bandai anyway.
I will stay with Hasegawa. I will not buy this.
It's not a toy, its a bad model kit, that's all.
-
You my friend are a politician! ... might I add that most model builders would like the new "deviations" to be erroring on the side of realism. That's why we build models. Otherwise we just buy toys to play with.
Mr. Cheng you are totally right!!!!
These is a model kit NOT a toy, that's why at least for me is not a good representation of any of the 3 modes. I still don't know why so many people compere these Bandai release with Yamato. Compare yamato with the new Arcadia!!
-
The problem with your analysis is that first you claim that there are a bazillion seam lines to fix on Hasegawa, then laud the Bandai kit which has two glaringly obvious un-fillable seam lines in the form of the landing gear doors, and several others for hand hatches, ect. If I want to make a display grade battroid, I'm not going to buy the bandai over the hasegawa kit because I'd just be spending my time covering up all of the parts that don't make it look realistic in order to allow it to transform.
Totally agree with you!!!
-
NOT sold at all!!!
-
I really insist, why most of you compare these to Yamato, these is a "model kit"not a toy. BTW these Bandai looks really bad.
-
YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
-
The other kit that need a Hasegawa treatment is the VF-4, hope some day! I was waiting for the announcement for the VF-25 in the Shizuoka Hobby Show, but just silence...
-
Any news???
-
If this were 6-7 years ago, I'd be with you. However, being a Gundam/Bandai fan (I know, boo) their kits have really come a long way, even since the frontier kits. Hell, MG Delta Plus seems extremely durable and it's transformable as well, and it's transformation is far more complex than a VF1. And if you did compare it to Frontier, I think the durability of the VF1 will be enhanced due to it's simpler design. As far as decal/paint abuse, I wouldn't be surprised if the chest pieces/wing trim were molded in the correct plastic already.
I will concede that I don't like the FP, but I don't see what the big deal about the nose is.
The nose is totally wrong, shape, size (too short for a fighter or gerwalk), etc, etc, etc
About the durability, It's a Model Kit, not a toy, I have like 80 or more model kits, they are dissing for display, toys like Yamato (expensive ones) were dissing to be "playable", so you can manipulate the toy and have some interaction with it.
I know model kits were toys but that's not the case these days, no one, play with model kits, because the small parts, they are fragile, etc.
So you can't ask for durability IMHO
Seriously, I'm not against these new Bandai VF-1, its just I don't get the idea of a new 1/72 VF-1, with Hasegawa having a great line of fighter/battroid VF-1 in the same scale. Gerwalk was so forgiven, why not a new and good non transformable model kit of a VF-1 in gerwalk mode????
-
Why you compare these bandai with yamato,?? these is a model kit, Yamato's are toys IMHO. You can compare these bandai with Hasegawa or ARII but no with Yamato, totally different.
For me these Bandai VF-1 is terrible, the nose is really bad (shape and size), wing size are too big in Battroid and too short in fighter, Gerwalk dosn't look good, so what's the point, the arms and legs are off in fighter mode, etc etc etc... Well is just mi opinion, I know a lot of people don't agree with me.
Bandai: 1/72 Macross VF-1J Max and Millia Ver.

They are a lot better than Bandai ones, real 1/72 scale!!!
