  1. I wouldn't say that at all. Mass Effect 2 is better than probably 95% of the games released during this console generation. It's just not better than the first one. BTW, David, renegade dude-Shep looks badass with the Blood Dragon helmet on. The red eyes and the red lights near the mouth are positively sinister when you get to pull a renegade action.
  2. I'm really not impressed by the iPad. I mean, I like the idea of a scaled-up iPod touch moving in on Kindle territory, but for $200 less you can buy a decent netbook with more storage and a physical keyboard. I can live without the touchscreen for now.
  3. Bah. A common complaint I heard from the Halo frat party crowd was that they didn't like Mass Effect because it was too much RPG and not enough shooter. It's a damn shame Bioware listened to them. Don't get me wrong, Bioware's got some of the best storytellers (Drew Karpyshyn), and I expect that Mass Effect 2 will be an engaging experience that will be remembered as one of 2010's best games. It's just a shame that it plays like Mass Effect Lite.
  4. You don't reformat your Xbox 360 HDD. You format a particular 120GB Western Digital Scorpio (model WDGWD1200BEVS) from a PC that's booted from DOS on a USB drive instead of the PC's hard drive. You use this specially prepared drive to replace the 20GB hard drive that's in there. Unfortunately, the article doesn't offer any suggestions for getting the contents of your original drive onto the new one. Likewise, it fails to mention that it's next to impossible to find the WDGWD1200BEVS drive anymore.
  5. Hundreds? Wow. I think I took 47 total. Thing is (for me at least) shields show up during combat, so they don't look as good as wallpapers. So I got a few shots of the Executor buzzing some "landmarks" like DS9 and Earth, and I made sure to grab some of her just cruising around from a bunch of different angles, but the thing is that after you do that, there's not a lot else to look at. It's more "what color is the space dust in this system?". But yeah, Mass Effect. Finally got time to play it.
  6. I would, but it turns out that friends + alcohol + Rock Band = crazy fun.
  7. I'll see what I can do with my old Gamestop contacts. EDIT: PMed. I just hope you're not too busy playing it to get my message...
  8. There are no Del Tacos in western PA that I know of. Well, I guess the beta is over... and my one regret was that I didn't get more screen caps. Since the game was running at the same resolution as my desktop, I've got some nice wallpapers to remember the USS Executor by. As for playing the game when it's released, I think I'm going to hold off... for now. I still need to finish Darksiders, I picked up Mass Effect 2, and I know there are some other games I'll be wanting. I'll wait until the price for the game itself drops and see if they don't make a Romulan faction (I always liked them better than Klingons anyway).
  9. I wish I had room for one. Rock Band DLC takes up a lot of room once you've imported to Rock Band and Lego Rock Band songs into Rock Band 2 on top of all the songs you already bought...
  10. Well, you might get to have three days off (two of which you can play), but my copy is safely in my possession as I type this. And my buddy canceled on me, so I get to play when I get home from work.
  11. Reserved mine for PC.
  12. Yeah, I mean, no one's really disagreeing that the PSP would have been better off with the Go's digital download model if it'd been that way from day one. The Go's blunder is that they made a PSP that doesn't play most PSP games, including the ones you might already own.
  13. Yeah... I think I'm just going to head over to Gamestop tonight. The one by my place is doing the midnight thing. Not that I'll have time to play it. I have to be at work at 8:30 tomorrow, and after I get off work I'm supposed to go to a friend's place until 9:00 or 10:00. And then I've got errands to run on Wednesday...
  14. I think people tend to play as human because they want to imagine themselves, not necessarily their characters, as captains of their ships. Anyway, here's Lt. Commander Mike "Zero" McAwesome, the Executor's skipper.
  15. More or less. I install most programs to C:/Program Files, but I install all my games do D:/Program Files. That's as deep as most games go for me. The only exceptions is if I have multiple games from a series, then they'll get grouped by series (ex. D:/Program Files/Call of Duty/Modern Warfare 2). Grouping by publisher is just dumb... half the games I own would wind up in D:/Program Files/Activision.
  16. QFT. Late Night with Conan O'Brien was my favorite late night talk show. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno was never as funny as Conan, but it felt... I don't know, comfortable. The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien was never as funny as Late Night, and it just seemed awkward. Like Conan was trying really hard not to be Leno, but not to be Late Night Conan at the same time. Late Night Conan was funnier than Jay, but I liked Jay better than Tonight Show Conan, as I've said above. I agree that both are better than Letterman, but I disagree that Letterman is better than anyone. Seriously, Letterman was never funny in my opinion, and since getting passed over for the Tonight Show he just seemed bitter. Lately, that bitter has morphed into downright nasty. And besides, it may have been short lived, and it may have only been on Saturday nights, but Talkshow with Spike Feresten was funny. That's at least one "goatshit from Fox" that's better than not just Letterman, but Leno.
  17. It's hard to miss. From where you enter the system, it's behind and to the right of DS9. What I'm thinking though is that it might be open or closed at different times. It seemed like it just opened when I entered the system. Here's another one I snagged earlier around Andoria.
  18. On my comp there is no games folder (or any subfolders) in C:/users/public. For me, they're in D:/Program Files/STO/Star Trek Online/Live/screenshots. Change D to C and STO for Cryptic Studios if you used the default installation path.
  19. It's ok, I figured out that when you hit Print Screen, you might have a black wall posted to your clipboard, but a screen shot is saved sans-hub in your installation folder. I managed to snag a good one of my almost-Constitution-class USS Executor buzzing the wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant.
  20. How are you guys getting such nice screens? I can't figure out how to hide my HUD, and even if I don't whenever I hit the "print screen" key, whatever I paste into winds up being a 1680x1050 wall of black.
  21. No, Cruiser. But I could use the quantum torpedoes now that I have an extra aft slot (not sure if the ones I have in the front are MK I or MK II). My phaser banks are all MK II.
  22. I think so. But I'm not sure what the advantage is. Torpedoes do have a lag between firing, but they do crap tons more damage when the enemy shields are down (for me, something like 10x more damage).
  23. What other stuff? I could use a second Engineering console and better torpedoes.
  24. Seriously. We had like two cruisers (out of 36) left to go. I don't know how they expect any beta testing to get done when the server goes down twice a day for 2-3 hours at a time. EDIT: And it'd be nice if they'd give us some kind of warning instead of just dropping everyone. On a side note, I finally got my promotion. My new ship is a Constitution with Excalibur nacelles. Gives it that classic look, but slightly more modernized. I might change the engineering hull to Excalibur as well.
